I have seen the Japanese dish Sushi, it looks very attractive but being vegetarian, I never could taste it. So when I heard "The Sushi Company" offering a vegetarian version of Sushi, I went there out of curiosity to taste Sushi. The eating joint is at a central location (Sardar Patel Marg, C-Scheme) and very convenient to reach. Not much space for car parking as it is a busy main road outside. The sitting place is decent with natural surroundings (given a garden set-up). There is a small covered place if you don't want to sit outside. We preferred to sit outside. Within the campus, there is a kind of old unattended house, wherein they sell a variety of plants. We were three people and first ordered Cream of mushroom soup and Avocado Roll Sushi (4 pcs). The soup was good, but I was disappointed with Sushi, as it was bland. It is supposed to be eaten with Soya sauce, but even then it was tasteless. They provide chopsticks to eat it but we preferred to use our hands. Perhaps we don't know how to enjoy the Sushi! 4 pcs were totally inadequate, so for the main course we had the options of noodles or Pizza or Thai rice . We settled for Farmer Pick large Pizza. It was not as crisp as expected but the taste was okay. Overall one can visit this place if somebody wants to try vegetarian Sushi atleast once in his/her lifetime (and get disappointed like me 😀 ). We went there at 8.30 PM and till we finished we were the only customers! On being asked, the server informed us that people come there late at night and it is normally full on Saturday and Sunday. We found dishes over priced. Service was okay. Be ready to spend atleast Rs 750 per head if you want to fill your belly with...
Read moreBeware! It's a 'vegetarian sushi' joint. Well what were you expecting in the pink city? Anyway jokes aside, I am a vegetarian and I absolutely loooove this tiny snack and I compulsively sample it whenever I spot it on a menu anywhere. And you can't imagine my excitement when I got to know of a dedicated sushi place in my own city.
Disappointing and underwhelming are the two words I would use for my first (& last) trip to The Sushi Company. And I won't be talking about the sushi itself here. Because you see, having sushi is not about the sushi alone but the whole experience of it- an exotic oriental (read:Japanese) setting, a counter top, calming environment and a dude making it right there and serving you. Throw in some Japaneasy muse-ic, some oriental plants maybe and slick, minimal wooden furniture with gloss finish. Sorry I haven't been to Japan. Vague recollection of Jiro Dreams of Sushi are my only reference point. You have to see the docu, o' fellow-foodie!
But anyway, the point being (as you can guess) it was none of that, but a bleh! setting, reminiscent of government office canteens and railway waiting rooms. And it's not for the lack of space, mind you. And sushi's never cheap! Anyway don't heed me. Just go for it. And if sushi's not your thing, they even have a panda that makes pizzas! About that? Ummm...
Read moreThere is no inside seating so it was uneasy in the cold month to eat outside. We ordered Paneer sizzler - tastes awesome but quantity was very less and very expensive Ornagr mojito - awesome Paneer tikka pizza - awesome but again very expensive. Sushi -PATHETIC. LITERALLY WASTED 360 RUPEES.
bill for two persons - 2000. Very very very expensive when no inside seating available. Potion is tooo less comparative to price.
So overall experience , not at all a value for money. Highly overpriced . The restaurant was almost empty even on weekend so this may be the reason.
Please don't try any sushi dish. The potion is so less that serving size is not even 50 grams for rs 360. And taste was so pathetic that I felt like vimoting.
The over all value for money is around 750 rs so I feel that I paid...
