Authentic Yemeni Flavors Amidst Urban Hustle
Last Friday night, we dined at Mehrab Mandi Yemeni Restaurant in Edappally, Kochi. Despite the ongoing roadwork making the drive a bit challenging, the restaurant's proximity to NH66 (Bypass) makes it easily accessible under normal circumstances .
Food & Taste: We ordered the Mutton Mandi, which was flavorful and well-prepared. The dish was accompanied by a complimentary welcome soup, adding a warm touch to the meal . The rice was aromatic, and the mutton tender, reflecting authentic Yemeni culinary traditions .
Ambience & Service: The restaurant boasts spacious interiors with a warm and inviting atmosphere . The staff were attentive and courteous, ensuring a pleasant dining experience . The decor reflects Middle Eastern influences, enhancing the overall ambiance .
Pricing: While the Mutton Mandi was priced at ₹960, the quality and portion size justified the cost . The overall pricing aligns with the authentic ingredients and preparation methods employed .

It's quite sum time I reviewed an authentic Mandi place and luckily my friends (Dubai & Bangalore) suggested having Mandi during their visit to Ernakulam and thus I took them here. I did hear that the chef is from Yemen & they have Haneed that I was craving to have.
Ambiance: The Hotel is very much luxurious in seating and has quite good area to dine with family peacefully. They have Majlis & tables with sofa seats and cushion chairs. The sofas are a bit lower and thus teeny weeny discomfort while eating. The staffs are mainly from Kashmir and good at serving. They also have parking facility.
Food: We ordered Saltha Fahsa & Haneed (Ribs as used to have the same in Dubai) Before the food was served, they enlightened us with soup and salads.
Review: The soup, Saltha & Haneed, all were superb. I mean literally yummy and superb as we expected. The meat was cooked properly and the Mandi rice served with it was also 👌 Saltha Fahsa as the one we used to have from Dubai was different from this, but! But this one too is tasty in its way. We were 5 and Mandi was qood enough for all. Saltha Fahsa was ordered twice and nothing was left over😅 I met the chef and thanked him for the good food. This is a must try place for good authentic Mandi.
I Visited the place again with my family and this time ordered Chicken Mandi & Fahsa. I was not very much impressed with Chicken Mandi as did not find anything different. We ordered Kunafa (mozzarella cheese) and believe me it was worth every penny. It is indeed the best Kunafa we had. Better than Kunafa World & Alibaba Doner Cafe.
Update: Visited again, and this time we tried Mutton Madfoon, Kubidein, Shishtawook. We were not satisfied with the kebab, which was highlighted to the management. They were very much generous to replace the same😊 Madfoon was awesome. The meat was well cooked with great flavor....
Read moreThis is THE place to get Mandi from. The food tastes authentic and is simply delicious. The ambience is also equally amazing, and their service is top notch. I absolutely love the staff, they are all so helpful and so willing to help.
They serve complementary salad, mutton soup and tea, which is simply delicious and refreshing. Their grills are pretty good too. They are on the pricier side, but you simply won't regret eating here. The food is simply that good. The service and the staff are so great and polite, good actually feel like visiting again and again. Must try for those who enjoy arabic food.
Mandi isn't traditionally served with mayo, so Mehrab doesn't either. Their menu clearly calls that out. So if you're used to mayo, please do not go with that expectation. Trust me, mayo would only take the true flavors away anyway, and you'll still enjoy the mandi without it. At least in Mehrab! 😄
We also tried the mixed grill plate, it came with a huge roti, fries and hummus. That was pretty good too, I really liked the mutton koobideh. The fottoush was also amazing, the dressing was just spot on!
In the end, they serve Sulaimani too, which is the perfect ending for an awesome meal. I have visited this place several times, it has thankfully not disappointed us so far and it is one of those places where we can confidently bring family and friends for a great meal. Highly recommend, the food is great, ambience is beautiful and well maintained, and the staff are excellent. What more do you need? And of course, it will come at a price, but it'll...
