This restaurant is one of the most reliable restaurants near guruvayoor temple. Here are the things I like and dislike about the resturant
Likes Location: the restaurant is very conveniently located next to the east nada of guruvayoor temple. Devotees can easily access the restaurant
VFM : the menu is priced affordable and feels very value for money.
Cleanliness: Though not very neat and tidy, compared to other restaurants in the region this one is far better.
Menu : a wide variety of vegetarian options to choose from. My fave being their dosa, vada, curd vada.
Pure-vegetarian : this restaurant being pure vegetarian is favored by many devotees
Hotel access : those staying in pachajanyam hotel can have easy and convenient access to the restaurant, as the restaurant is located in the ground floor of the hotel
Scale of cooking: this restaurant caters to thousands of devotees on an average day and hence the scale of production/cooking is humungous. Which means, no matter how crowded the temple is one can always be sure to find a meal here in this restaurant.
Dislike
Overhyped: the restaurant is overly hyped. Many a times I felt that pazhayidom brand is bloated and not upto the billing
Inconsistency in taste. : it's a bitter fact that the restaurant fails to deliver consistency in taste.
Poor sadya : the sadya meal is a big turn down. Will never try that again
Too much oily: I was shocked to see the excessive oil dripping out of the pooris. Just had to keep the dish aside and order dosa.
Crowded. : albeit the crowd management strategies are in place and functional, the restaurant is...
Read moreI had sadyas from many places in Kerala But this one's the worst.
(Mini sadya- It's a ordinary meal btw, they call it as Mini Sadya) was overpriced (Rs 160), you can get a meal with payasam around Rs 120 in Cochin.
Rice was undercooked. Sambar - Sambar dal was low in quality (if you frequently buy groceries from markets, you know what type of dal is good in quality) & was not properly cooked. Pulissery - They used more jaggery/sugar for obtaining taste. Pickles - Very salty except puli inji. Avial - Was full of banana peel waste, didn't got any other veggies from this (I have checked this with other customers too, they also got the same) Rest of the curries was not good, cold & too bland. Payasam - I can't call that as a payasam, there was no ada in that thing & they forgot to put jaggery in that, I assume
Many of the staff don't know how to serve a sadya.
PS: If you are from Trivandrum, Kollam, Alleppey don't try this place, an average kalyana sadya chef is better than this place/ or else you can try the sadya from your own home that will be better.
Atmosphere: Smoke was coming from AC vent (Mitsbushi AC), it's unacceptable.
Breakfast was good, we have tried masala dosa, idlies, plain dosa, ghee roast. Affordable rates too, Chutney was not too much good, it's okay & that's it.
1 Ghee roast was ordered as parcel, but the have forgot to put chutneys, they usually not give any parcels, but we insisted.
Bakery Items
Too much overpriced for idi chammanthi, chutney powder. Murukk was oily.
Cleanliness was there since it's a new building.
Can't believe these guys use to prepare sadya for school kalolsalvam, it's...
Read moreRecently visited here for breakfast with my family on what was supposed to be a pleasant day. Unfortunately, our experience was far from what we expected, given the brand name and reputation of the restaurant.
Upon arrival, I asked if we needed to take a token for breakfast, and the staff informed us it wasn't necessary and directed us to a seat. However, even after waiting for 15-20 minutes, no one came to take our order. Despite checking with multiple staff members, we received uncoordinated and vague responses that someone would come to assist us.
Eventually, I approached the cash counter, only to be told that the breakfast service was closed. At this point, a manager or staff member named Das intervened and offered to serve us. However, only three of us received our food, while the fourth person was left waiting for over half an hour. When we inquired about the delay, Das responded rudely, further compounding our frustration.
The lack of coordination among the staff and the rude treatment we received turned what should have been a happy family outing into a disappointing and upsetting experience. The food itself was mediocre and did little to redeem the poor service.
I hope that they can address these issues to improve customer service and ensure that future patrons have a more positive experience. I share this feedback in the hope that it will lead to better staff training and...
