A Horrible Dining Experience – Never Again!
I had one of the worst dining experiences at Veg bhavan, and I strongly advise others to stay away. What was supposed to be a simple meal turned into a nightmare. The food was stale, cold, and lacked any real flavor. Worse, it was unhygienic—I found hair in my dish, and the cutlery didn’t even seem properly washed.
Shortly after eating, I experienced severe stomach pain, nausea, and food poisoning, which completely ruined my day. It’s clear that hygiene is not a priority here, and I shudder to think about the state of their kitchen if the food being served is this bad.
The service was equally disappointing. The staff were rude, inattentive, and took forever to bring our food. When I tried to address my concerns, they brushed it off with no apology or attempt to fix the issue.
For a place that claims to be a good vegetarian restaurant, this was a total disaster. I would never return and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who cares about their health or good service. There are plenty of better options out there—do yourself a favor and avoid this place...

Stopped by Veg Bhavan on a calm Saturday morning, and the place was pleasantly quiet with no crowd – a refreshing change from the usual rush you find in city restaurants. The ambience was typical of classic vegetarian joints, reminiscent of places like Arya Bhavan or Saravana Bhavan – clean, simple, and comfortable.
I ordered their Ghee Roast and Tea, and both were quite satisfying. The real highlight, though, was the coconut chutney – easily one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The tea was also well-made, rounding off a wholesome South Indian breakfast.
One of the biggest plus points of Veg Bhavan is its location – just a 2-minute walk from Ernakulam Junction/South Railway Station, making it an incredibly convenient stop for travelers looking for a clean, quick, and tasty vegetarian meal.
Overall, Veg Bhavan is a great option for anyone near Ernakulam Junction, especially if you’re in the mood for a peaceful meal with quality food...
Read moreVisited this iconic eatery for classic Kerala vegetarian Dishes. The place has a great, no frills, old-school charm that you expect. We ordered a variety of dishes to get a proper taste.
Here’s the breakdown of what we tried:
Masala Dosa: The dosa itself was crisp and well-made. However, the potato masala filling was just okay it lacked a bit of the punchy flavor I was hoping for.
Onion Uttapam: This was decent. Good texture and the onions were fresh.
Parotta & Paneer Butter Masala: This combo was the highlight! The parotta was flaky, soft, and tasted excellent. The Paneer Butter Masala was rich and creamy, pairing perfectly with the parotta.
Vada: Unfortunately, the vada was a letdown. It was served a little bit cold and had lost its crispness, which was disappointing.
Coffee: The perfect traditional end to the meal. It was strong, sweet, and exactly what you want from a South...
