Ajooba Biryani Centre, Jadavpur — Restaurant in Kolkata

Ajooba Biryani Centre is a very small biryani shop located near Kalibari lane. It doesn't have any elaborate seating area and is essentially a takeaway.

It is a very well known biryani centre here but somehow never really reached out to it though it is just at a stones throw from my home. The other day, was hungry late at night and decided to order 2 Egg Chicken biryani.

Firstly, the service was really fast and hassle free. And secondly, the biryani was really good: 1⃣ Good quantity, enough for one person. 2⃣ Not too oily, not too dry. Very moist biryani 3⃣ The chicken pieces were quite soft and a large leg piece was provided in both the packets. 4⃣ It is very pocket friendly. We paid Rs 75 for one packet of biryani. 5⃣ Most importantly, the fragrance in the biryani wasn't too strong which is a big plus point for me.

To be very honest, had no expectations from a biryani costing 75 rs but to our surprise it was...

This is one of the most unhygienic restaurants I have seen in Kolkata. I have come to understand one thing after coming to Kolkata that people here don't care about hygiene, they don't even think about how the thing is made or where it is made, they just taste the thing and see how it looks and guess everything from that. Eat healthy, stay healthy, feed your child healthy. Stay away from this restaurant, buy at a little price but buy good food. A roadside biryani joint in the absolute sense of the word. Yes they are very moderate on the pocket pinch, and true what more could you expect from a roadside biryani joint.... Now comes the answer... I have had better tasting biryani in the same pocket pinch in baghajatin and garia ( not to mention dalhousie area)where there isn't such a revolting smell from the dish.
