Extremely Disappointing Experience
For lunch yesterday I visited ampm Cafe Bar and I must say, my experience was extremely disappointing. While the place boasted a posh decor and a great music vibe, the overall experience fell far short of expectations.
Let's start with the positives. The mushrooms on a skewer, pizza, and tiramisu were actually quite good. However, that's where the happiness ended. The cons heavily outweighed any positive aspects of the meal.
To begin with, the pesto pasta was served cold, completely ruining the flavors and texture. It was a major letdown. Adding to the disappointment, the server seemed to have a knack for dropping food while serving. When we asked for assistance from another server, we were told that he was new and couldn't help. This lack of coordination and training was evident throughout our visit.
The lotus stem, which was the first item we ordered, inexplicably arrived at the end, just before the desserts. It was a baffling delay that disrupted the flow of the meal. The hakka combo was average at best, nowhere near the quality you would expect even from a roadside stall.
To make matters worse, the Thai curry, which was supposed to be served with Jasmine rice, was accompanied by old, lumpy rice that was cold on the sides and warm in the middle. It felt like we were served microwaved leftovers. The carelessness in food preparation was evident and deeply disappointing.
As if the subpar food weren't enough, the server went ahead and cleared the suntory whiskey glass without even asking, despite it being more than half full. It was the final blow to an already dreadful dining experience. Throughout our meal, the servers seemed like headless chickens, running around without any clue or attentiveness.
In conclusion, I strongly advise against wasting your hard-earned money at ampm Cafe Bar. Despite its fancy appearance, the overall experience was nothing short of pathetic. From the cold pesto pasta to the poorly timed and mishandled service, this establishment failed to meet even the most basic expectations. Save yourself the disappointment and seek out a better...
Read moreThoroughly impressed by this place on park street. While the path leading upto the place on the 5th floor wasn't aesthetically pleasing, littered with cartons, once you made way, the decor was terrific and just the vibe that I particularly seek out.
White, clean lines themed around erstwhile Calcutta, you would find yourself transported to a social/sports club in the colonial era, complete with a well curated assortment of vintage artifacts. Having been to Calcutta after five years, this was somewhat a surprise, having been accustomed to either garish or non existential decor, this wouldn't be out of place in Brooklyn.
The place was packed as it should be, with a cover band belting out old school rock (which was a large reason you should visit the place) fitting with the vibe (Thank God!).
We found a place at the bar which was a cool wrap around rectangle. The cocktails looked exciting each with an unique Calcutta twist. Can say for certain that the Old Fashioned with nolen gur is worth trying with the nolen gur dampening the bitterness. The Park Street negroni I personally loved but could be a tad bit too strong for non coffe drinkers. The espresso martini was also a standout.
We tried a few small plates and while the food was nothing to write home about, they were all top notch. Particularly the shittake mushroom dumplings were melt in your mouth. Would like to sit down for a bigger meal when I have the chance!
Must visit if you are...
Read moreRecently our experience of ampm has become very disappointing. With the introduction of a new menu.. Was very excited to try the food, especially since the photos looked really inviting. We ordered a tomato cheese salad that came with a bread basket. When we requested for some balsamic vinegar we were told its an extra charge of 75rs. On a dish you pay upwards of 700rs you either expect it to be tasting really good or nt to be charged extra for condiments. It was a shocking dampener to our evening. Luckily the salt was not extra charge! We thought twice before asking for ketchup for the sliders! We ordered a noodle bowl with dumplings where you have to mix in the sauce to make ur dish. It was literally a teaspoon each of the 3 regular dimsum sauce that you get. Very bland and not exciting at all. The noodle bowl itself had no flavour or salt.. And after adding the 3 dimsum sauces.. It lacked Taste! I don't know what ampm is hoping for.. Or aiming for.. But i hope they can improve their standard especially after charging 2500 rs cover charge per person! As we keep going there it seems emptier and emptier! The crowd is definitely saying something.. Hopefully they are observing...
