Peter Cat, located on the iconic Park Street in Kolkata, is a legendary dining spot that beautifully combines nostalgia with culinary excellence. Stepping into Peter Cat is like taking a trip back in time, thanks to its charming vintage decor, cozy booths, and soft, ambient lighting that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant's menu is a delightful mix of Continental, Mughlai, and North Indian cuisines, ensuring there is something for everyone. One of the standout features of Peter Cat is its dedication to maintaining high-quality food and service over the years. Famous Dishes: 1. Chelo Kebab Platter: This is undoubtedly the star of the menu. The platter features succulent chicken and mutton kebabs served with buttered rice, a perfectly poached egg, and grilled vegetables. The kebabs are juicy and flavorful, making it a dish that keeps patrons coming back for more. 2. Mutton Rezala: This dish is a beautiful blend of tender mutton cooked in a rich, creamy white gravy. The delicate balance of spices and the melt-in-your-mouth texture of the mutton make it a must-try. 3. Fish Meunière: For those who prefer continental flavors, the Fish Meunière is a fantastic choice. The fish is fresh and perfectly cooked, served with a tangy lemon butter sauce that enhances its flavors wonderfully. 4. Sizzlers: Peter Cat is also renowned for its sizzlers. The Mixed Grill Sizzler is particularly popular, featuring a variety of meats served on a sizzling hot plate with vegetables and fries. 5. Biryani: Their rendition of the classic Kolkata Biryani is fragrant, flavorful, and generously portioned, making it a favorite among rice lovers. Ambiance and Service: The ambiance at Peter Cat is both nostalgic and elegant, with elements that hark back to its long history. The wooden furniture, retro-style decor, and attentive waitstaff contribute to a dining experience that feels both special and comfortable. The service is another highlight. The staff is knowledgeable, courteous, and always ready to provide recommendations or cater to specific dietary preferences. Despite its popularity, the restaurant manages to maintain efficient service, ensuring that the wait for a table or meal is never too long. In summary, Peter Cat is more than just a restaurant, it's a culinary institution in Kolkata. Whether you're a local looking to revisit childhood memories or a tourist wanting to experience the best of Kolkata's dining scene, Peter Cat offers an unforgettable experience with its timeless charm and delicious food. Highly recommended!

A perfect 5 on 5!!! Walked in on a hot Thursday afternoon before having to catch a 5pm flight and having walked around nearby attractions to see the hype about this place. Had called up 30minutes prior to check if reservations were needed to which they responded that it is first come, first serve. Walked in to the door and announced we were two and the message relayed from the reception staff, via the staff at the door and the waiter upstairs via swift communication and in no time we were seated in a cool comfortable corner welcoming as if we were in a 5 star restaurant. This kind of a service was something astonishing for my South Indian perception at Kochi, Chennai or Bangalore for even 2x, 3x of the cost. Ordered a couple of beers, a chelo Kebab and at last a banana split. Food came super quick and was served just right. The beer mugs were made of a brassy material which was unique. Did see some fancy looking dishes being served at other tables- so the presentation of food here is top class. The food is good as well. Add to that a dimly lit warm ambiance, it’s an excellent spot to relax despite it not being the most spaced apart tables. The cost of the food though is high, is well justified paying for. The bill does not include a service charge on top it! If I were to nitpick- the washrooms could’ve been a few more. And also, I had found a wall socket and had asked my waiter if I could charge my phone to which he told that charging was prohibited after an incident where a customer’s phone caught fire. I’m not sure of how long should we hold onto the tale of flaming galaxy phones, but this was probably the only downside of my visit. I had to anyway charge my phone so had to use my power bank instead. So if the management can please look to rule out irrelevant rules, it’d be great.

Today 27th Aug 2021, This is the first time I ever gone to have the experience of the famous PETER CAT... And it's Chello Kebbab....!!! One liner expresison is awwwkkkk... I never been tasted such a worst and tasteless food. The only catchy is the ambiance and low price model. We ordered for my all time favorite dish Sizzler ( mixed non veg ) and Peter Cat special Chello Kebbab. I'm not sure if the chef and preparation has been changed otherwise how come the rating of this restaurant is so high and this is been well renowned for its Chello Kebbab for quite sometime. However, coming to our experience.. I have posted app food item and the drink I ordered here today. Sizzler dish was absolutely feeling with its full fumes and sounds but the appearance you all can feel I think looks like spicey chicken item. Sizzler and that too tossed with greavy was a real baad idea, we beleive every dish has its unique look and preparation atleast ( taste may differ ), this was disaster for us with the starting. Now, with eagerly and with a huge expectations started for the chello kebbab... my good ness, a kebbab of Chicken stick with onion and capsicum along with 2nos of mutton boti kebbab along with full plate stickey rice tossed with butter and am egg poch... This was not the expectations by looking the Chello Kebbab dish., However taste of the Kebbabs.. I don't know how to describe you can say such stiff and juiceless boneless kebbab with slight sweetish .... THIS IS ALL ABOUT CHELLO KEBBABS....!!!! The snapnfor the dish is also attached I completely forgot to mention... The drink was served with drinking water glass with road side mixure..😆😆😆... We couldn't eat the food fully due to such bad taste and may be that was expected by the waiters they simply took away the plates without much hesitation..🤣🤣🤣🤣 I really look forward for the advises for good taste food over here, cause I wish go once again atleast to prove if I had a real bad luck today or this is what about Peter Cat's so called Chello Kebbab

We visited here on 17th August 2024. Occasion was his birthday. It was a very nice experience to dine in a legendary place. The thematic ambience is so nice and reminds you of the 90s era. The low light and the Aroma of well cooked foods will leave you high! What we ordered - Starters Nalli gosht dry- Absolutely, Highly recommended! Peter cat is well known for its continental or signature dishes. People often look over this type of selection. I would highly recommend this if anyone wants to start with an absolute BANG! Two enormous nalli pieces are served with lots of salads and achari onions. The Aroma was superb and the spices were well mixed. Just out of the world. Mains Chelo kabab original - a platter of mixed meats served with rice and lots of butter. There was chicken kabab, seekh kabab, boiled tomato and all. It was good. Peter cat is well known for its chelo kabab, but I felt nothing special. Specially after trying the royal starter. But yes, you have to try it at least once, as it's a signature dish. Beckty Meunier - Again, out of the world! Two pieces of fillet served with cheesy creamy sauce and four pieces of chilli potato lots of boiled beans, carrots, cucumbers and tomatoes. This is also a highly recommended dish. The service was very warm. Every one was so welcoming and the all foods were properly served on our table. All over a very very nice experience. I would like to come here again to try the other dishes.

Peter cat is a heritage restaurant situated in Central Kolkata. It is situated at Park Street beside flury's. You can reach in here by availing metro railway, the nearest metro station is Park Street. It is a continental restaurant serving all sorts of continental dishes. Sit and dine is allowed. I tried to enter the restaurant many times when I visit park Street but was not possible as there will be a long queue whenever I visit. The signature dish of Peter Cat is Chelo Kebab. It is a complete dish. It will cost you around 450. I would like to tell that the hype regarding the Chelo kebab makes your expectation higher. You make the dish if you like a buttery taste because the dish is full of butter. The kebabs given were not that soft as expected. The ambiance is just amazing and you will definitely love it. Another dish we took was fish makhmali which was really soft. Even the fish haters will love it. In desert, we had brownie with ice cream and melted chocolate which was great in taste and quantity. The service is fast. One thing which I didn't like is that the restaurant is not taking reservations of tables through Zomato pro or dine-in app . We cant book a table even by calling. Hated the part because of the long queue. The restaurant should take booking through app. It is also a family bar cum restaurant hence one can also drink in here.

Starting with the ambience, the ambience inside was good, though the lighting was a bit low but not too low to make the surroundings less visible. We got a seat at the upper half. The table was big enough to accommodate 5 to 6 people easily. Now coming to the food, me and my friends ordered, chicken irani kebab and finger chips for starters, taste wise they were good, the finger chips were no different than usual french fries except the density of the potato was more in this one. The irani kebab tasted really good but the size of each piece was a bit small. Coming to the main course, we ordered two chelo kebab(the original) and one grilled chicken steak sizzler and one roasted chicken steak sizzler. One had barbecue sauce and the other had butter lemon sauce. Both the sizzlers with their respective sauce mixtures tasted good but there were some portions which were a bit chewy. The chelo kebab was fulfilling and worth all the hype, apart from the kebabs on the plate and the egg poach, what made the overall taste good was the mix of the butter and the rice. Overall it was a 4.8 out of 5 experience. And it is obviously a great place for friends and family get together. Also there can be a bit of waiting period if you're going on weekends so make your plans accordingly.
