Review of Baraka, Quest Mall, Kolkata We visited Baraka at Quest Mall for dinner last evening with high expectations, eager to explore new cuisines and experience the vibrant ambiance we had anticipated. However, the overall experience fell short of what we had hoped for. The first noticeable issue was the lack of atmosphere—the restaurant did not feel as lively or inviting as we had imagined. The service was underwhelming, lacking the attentiveness one would expect from a place of this standard. A significant inconvenience was the absence of a dedicated washroom, which was quite disappointing for a restaurant in a premium mall setting. Another surprising aspect was the lack of finger bowls after the meal. Instead, we were provided with wet towels, which, while functional, did not offer the same comfort and convenience. Small details like these contribute to the overall dining experience, and unfortunately, Baraka seemed to overlook them. We refrain from commenting on the food itself, as Mediterranean cuisine was a new experience for us, and we assume the restaurant executed it well. However, a meal is not just about the food—it is about the entire experience, and in that regard, Baraka did not quite meet expectations. A few refinements in service, ambiance, and basic amenities could elevate the restaurant significantly. As it stands, it was a bit...
Read moreWell, the first time experience at Baraka was somewhat mediocre. The overall ambience was good. However, they can play authentic Turkish music (or, Arabic) a little less louder! The menu is definitely confusing, especially, the main course. While, the staff were great - courteous and ever-willing to assist, at times it became a bit embarrassing to continuously check with them what is what. Now, once ordered, there was quiet a time lag before the food was finally delivered. I am guessing it may just be the preparation time. However, 20 mins seems a lot of time to wait for a dish!! Additionally, we had to request the staff to assist in serving some of the dishes - which should not be the case! All that being said, the taste of the food was definitely top notch! I cannot say that for the quantity (for some of them), given the exorbitant price tag. We did not try the drinks menu. Overall, if you are really looking forward to some Turkish/Arabic dishes to try out, and have a fat wallet, Baraka definitely ranks as a...

What a beautiful restaurant this is… classy, elegant ambience with a stylish bar setup right at the entrance.
The space isn’t very large, which actually makes it feel more cozy and intimate—perfect for a relaxed dine-in.
We ordered: • Ya Amar – pomegranate-based drink, refreshing and nice • Baraka Hummus – loved the presentation and taste • Kebab Istanbul • Adana Kebab • Machboos Al Kuzu – a biryani-style dish with a Mediterranean twist: dum-cooked rice, spiced lamb, and barista. Unique in flavor and I liked it a lot, though the portion could have been a bit bigger. The kebabs were excellent—tender, well-spiced, and best enjoyed hot. The condiments served alongside were amazing too.
Service was top-notch: attentive staff, frequent checks, and good suggestions on what to order.
Overall: 4/5 experience
