This has been one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a business. Cakes and Bakes has not only been unresponsive and careless, but shockingly rude and disrespectful. I placed two orders with them, supported their business, and even recommended them to others — only to be treated with complete disregard. Even when I appreciated them, they were cold and unresponsive. And when I politely pointed it out, they had the audacity to shout at me and speak with shocking disrespect. No professionalism, no gratitude — just entitlement. If this is how they treat a loyal customer who supported them, I can only imagine how they treat others. Never ordering from them again. Completely unacceptable behavior. When I tried to communicate how unprofessional their behavior was, they had the audacity to shout at me and speak in an extremely demeaning tone. There was zero basic courtesy, let alone gratitude for a returning customer. It honestly felt like they thought they were doing me a favor by taking my money. No customer deserves to be spoken to like that — ever. If this is how they treat loyal customers, I can’t imagine how they’d treat anyone else. I will never order from them again, and I strongly urge others to think twice before supporting a business that has no respect for the people keeping it running.
REPLY TO YOUR ARROGANT CHEAP BAKERY
Let’s get the facts straight — you cut the call the moment I mentioned writing a review, and even told me to “go ahead and post one” instead of hearing me out. And now suddenly you have the time to write this long, defensive essay — but you never had the time to respond to a genuine message where I shared what felt wrong as a customer. That says everything. Not once have you apologized. Not for the dismissive tone, not for the call-cutting, not for how rude and ungrateful you were. I gave you business, supported your brand, and promoted you sincerely — and all I got back was arrogance. And it’s not just me anymore — my friends and family are shocked at your behavior. They’ve seen the way you treated a loyal customer and how instead of taking accountability, you’re just playing the victim and writing excuses. You call this professionalism? It’s not. It’s ego, plain and simple. Own your behavior instead of hiding behind fake politeness and long explanations. If you had spent half this energy replying with basic respect when it actually mattered, this wouldn’t even be happening. Here’s proof of how completely ignorant and dismissive they were when I tried to communicate respectfully. No responses when I pointed out what felt wrong as a customer — but suddenly they have all the time in the world to write long, defensive replies online to save face. I don’t have the call recording, but if I did, you’d hear exactly how rude and arrogant they were. Now they’re twisting the story, accusing me of being wrong just because I said they should have someone handling basic communication — instead of understanding my point, they’re just playing the victim. This is not how a professional business behaves. This...
Read moreWe have ordered the cake for our daughter's fourth birthday from Cakes and Bakes. As we do not stay in India, we did not have a first-hand experience with any bakers in Kolkata. On top of that, we have been advised other bakers by our relatives. Nevertheless, we are used to some cake design abroad which were challenging to find in Kolkata until we came across Cakes and Bakes. We also did not want to jeopardize the taste for the sake of the design. Hence, we first ordered a smaller cake for our anniversary which preceded our daughter's birthday, where we really like the texture of the cake but I think we ordered the wrong flavour (it was good but not something everyone would appreciate). I must point out here that the order was very last minute and hence, there was not much time for the discussion about our expectations. Nevertheless, it was good enough to convince us to go with them for our daughter's birthday. Then, we took an appointment and visited them to discuss our expectations of the cake. Without being too ambition, we went with common flavours this time, i.e., butterscotch and chocolate, respectively, in different storeys of the cake. Our daughter wanted a unicorn on the cake and we zeroed on the design based on their suggestion and exhibition.
Now came the most important cake which our daughter was excited about for almost 3 months. I must say that the design of the cake was perfect without any flaws (they also promptly repaired all damaged caused in the transport). We were confident of the texture of the cake and we were not disappointed to say the least. Nevertheless, the highlight of the cake was its taste which was awesome and yet different from other bakers I would say. As the upper layers had butterscotch, many guests were served that in the beginning and they liked it. When they wanted a second piece, they got chocolate and then they could not decide which one was better. Both were incredibly good.
In summary, we loved the cake made and delivered by Cakes and Bakes and we would definitely recommend them to our friends and relatives. Nevertheless, I would suggest to make an appointment with them and discuss your expectations, which...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars, I would. I’m writing this because I witnessed how disgustingly Cakes and Bakes treated my friend someone who genuinely supported their business, appreciated their work, and spoke highly of them. And what did she get in return? Rude, arrogant, ungrateful behavior that no customer should ever have to tolerate. Even when she complimented them, they acted like they were too important to respond and when she pointed it out, they disrespected and shouted at her. Shouted. Like they’re some five-star brand and not a basic bakery with a big ego and zero manners. It’s honestly laughable how they think they’re above basic decency. If this is how they treat the people who uplift them, it’s only a matter of time before word spreads and their inflated ego comes crashing down. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Terrible attitude, no professionalism, and absolutely no idea how to handle customers. Arrogance doesn’t bake cakes humility does. And they’ve got none of it. Replying to this traffy business- Yes, I’m her friend — and I watched you treat someone who genuinely supported your basic little bakery like trash. She placed huge orders, appreciated your work, and promoted you out of kindness — and you couldn’t even respond with decency. Now you’re calling real reviews “spam” to escape accountability? That’s laughable. You’re not some elite patisserie — you’re a mediocre setup with zero gratitude, zero professionalism, and clearly zero guts to own up to your rude behavior. Don’t worry, people are seeing you for what...
