LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION: Being heard lot about Hatari at Gariahat and its fascinating food. In the recent times They have made their name spoken from every food loving person for their mind blowing food whether its Indian or its Chinese. I have always a craze for Hatari and this is the Mother outlet of all four outlets in Kolkata. Being already tried the Vip Road outlet my expectation with this outlet was certainly on the top notch. The kind of food i had last time was just above the bar. SO dropped in here at the Gariahat outlet for a birthday lunch with family.

AMBIANCE AND SERVICE : If you are going to hatari don't expect anything with the ambiance or the interiors or exteriors. They dont speak with the kind of interior glitters they talk with the charm of their mouth watering food. Though it was quite a big outlet with lots of tables up for grabs, not happy with the lightings as it was too dim. If i talk about staff then they have some very well mannered and attentive staff. Very courteous and always ready to be in your service. Full Marks for the service.

FOOD AND DRINKS : With the kind of happy experience i had in their previous outlet i decided to stick with the same here also. So ordered the Chicken Reshmi Kabab as the starter followed by Main course:

Chicken Reshmi Kabab : Highly Disappointed! The kind of reputation they have i didn't expected this from them. The chicken was good in shape and size but the kind of softness and juiciness i was expecting really shattered me big time. It was hard and according to me the marinated chicken was too much frozen in the fridge which turned the things wrong. When complained first it was denied but later they accepted and offered for another plate of Kabab but it was main course time till then.

Sweet & sour Chilli Chicken : This was sweet as well as sour too. Perfectly blended. The gravy was thick and good in quantity. Though it also gave me a feeling of Lemon chicken a little. Everything was done well until again i had an issue with the meat which was uncooked inside.

Chicken Prawn Fried Rice : Tremendous with the taste and quantity. Simply you can't beat Hatari's Fried rice in any form. Talking from the quantity so one bowl can easily be consumed by three people. The amount of chicken was done justice, really happy with the prawn as it was fresh and tasting as it should be. The spices were mixed excellently and finally i had something to cheer about.

Chicken Manchurian : This was a Manchurian i can finally say. Had lot of Manchurian over the year but they served the best till now to me. Again the chicken was and gravy was done justice. The quantity has more than enough.

Chicken Prawn Noodles : Like all the other dishes this also dosent left behind to impress us. The kind of preparation and spices they put in just done magic with the taste. Filled with good amount of chicken and prawn. One bowl is enough for 3.

CONCLUSION: There were few ups and down this time but surely their experience can't be challenge. May be one of those days. Coming to the food so i was very impressed with the raw materials they use. Quantity is just unquestionable. They are doing excellent job with the food and i hope they open soon in North as well. All the...

Hatari Restaurant – Review

Hatari is one of Kolkata’s iconic dining destinations, offering a blend of nostalgia, delicious food, and a comfortable ambience. It has remained a favorite for families and food enthusiasts for decades. Here's a comprehensive review:

Ambience & Atmosphere

Hatari exudes an old-school charm with its retro decor, spacious interiors, and cozy seating arrangements. The lighting is warm, making it an inviting place for diners. While not overly modern, its traditional vibe adds to its unique appeal.

Cuisine & Menu

The restaurant specializes in Chinese and Indian cuisines, with a menu that caters to diverse palates.

Chinese Cuisine: The Chinese dishes are the highlight here, with offerings like crispy chilli baby corn, hakka noodles, and chilli chicken that are flavorful and consistently well-prepared.

Indian Cuisine: The Indian menu includes rich curries, buttery naans, and biryanis that are equally popular. Their chicken tikka masala and dal makhani are must-tries.

Portion Size: Generous portion sizes make it ideal for group dining.

Food Quality

The food is fresh, delicious, and made with quality ingredients. Hatari strikes a balance between authentic flavors and Kolkata’s love for a bit of spice and flair.

Service

The staff is courteous and efficient, ensuring timely service even during peak hours. While the restaurant can get crowded on weekends, the service standards remain commendable.

Value for Money

Hatari offers great value for money, with reasonable pricing for the quality and quantity of food served. It’s especially popular among families and groups looking for a hearty meal without overspending.

Cleanliness & Hygiene

The restaurant maintains a good standard of cleanliness, with neat tables and hygienic serving practices. However, during peak hours, the washrooms may require more frequent upkeep.

Drawbacks

The restaurant tends to get crowded, which may result in a noisy atmosphere.

Parking near certain branches can be challenging.

Verdict

Hatari remains a beloved institution in Kolkata, offering comfort food that satisfies the soul. Whether you’re craving Chinese or Indian delicacies, it’s a dependable spot for delicious meals. Its nostalgic charm and affordable pricing make it a favorite for families, couples, and food lovers...

I've never been to Hatari but I really wanted to from long time. I've heard good things about them from few. They also had a good rating and prices are quite high than any other similar category restaurant so I thought there might be something special about this place.

Ambiance is warming suitable for family dinner but overall service is very slow. We ordered as per their staff’s recommendation.

Pan Fried Chilli Fish @ Rs.425 (3/5) Very thin fish slices, nice crispy fried but was too tangy and saucy. I've tried far better pan-fried fish than this. This don't justify the price tag.

Egg Fried Rice @ Rs.250 (1/5) It was like the buffet rice at Haka that is unlimited but so bland that no one wants to take it more. No flavours, no veggies, no spices just steamed rice mixed with scrambled eggs. Except the huge quantity the taste was just as bogus as any cheap Chinese buffet main course.

Chicken Noodles @ Rs.290 (2/5) Same like rice huge quantity but taste was way behind than any proper Chinese restaurant. Unlike friend rice ample chicken, egg and veggie were present but overall not impressive.

Green Chili Chicken @ Rs.395 (2/5) Too much vinegar in the gravy made the gravy sour, mediocre chicken pieces that tasted very poor like cheap buffet restaurants. Nowhere their items justified the price.

Conclusion Staffs here were crazy high, obviously we weren't happy with the food so while paying the bill we gradually said the waiter the food wasn't good. He just gave a dirty smile and went away, like get lost we got our money. Very pathetic attitude.

Basically, Hatari is overpriced and overhyped place targeted towards people who don't understand food much, has a lot of money just to show off that they're going to a good restaurant. LOL.

They're so sophisticated fine dine that they don't even understand the difference between napkin and toilet paper. Yes, you'll find toilet paper roll near the basin.

There are thousands of good restaurants all across the city, choose any and I guarantee that will be better...

Just a big NO. Not recommending. Let's come to the details. I saw an amazing rating of Hatari, and people recommended biryani of this place. Since I also found it's name in some sites under chinese restaurants, I decided to try the chinese items. 1. Honey chicken (starter)- Was below average. I donot want to compare. Honey chicken doesnot taste like that. I donot know what they made, some friend chicken in a sticky honey base with an excess sugary taste. 2. Fish in red wine sauce (maincourse)- This tasted good. You can try this one out. I think it would be better with naan/roti or rice. 3. Chicken chowmein- Chowmein was normal. It is good but you frequently eat that chowmein on average stores. Nothing special 4. Tooti frooti sundae- This was finally good, both in taste and amount. ● Food- I donot feel the food is worth the price, at all. My total bill was Rs 1250 and I felt it was a wastage of money . But, the amount is sufficient for two, so this would be good for family dinings too ● Ambience- Ambjence is very good and cosy. Good, soft music plays in background. There are large tabkes for family. Every seat has a curtain adjacent on both sides, so that the people can separate themselves if they wish to and enjoy some privacy. ● Staff service- The staffs were polite. The guard, at the time of entry, checked our temperature and gave us sanitizer spray. Inside, the waiters didnot feel very nice. They kind of directed us towards a seat and dinot let us choose ours. They served food properly but were poor in communication. One of them spoke English only and it was awkward for me to converse. We had pulled our curtains but towards the end, when we were not yet finished, a waiter came and pulled out thr curtains. I donot know why he did that ● Sanitation- There are clean bathrooms. Also, the spoons were given in a glass, dipped in hot water.
