Today had an unpleasant experience, which speaks more abt the staff attitude and behaviour than the property itself.
Visited the place today with a friend, the waiter Junaid (name as informed later), had offered us a table for 2, instead we chose to occupy a table for 4 as the other was in the corner with mosquitoes and others for 2 were occupied. He offered to place coil but since the rest of the place was empty we took the table for 4.
About 15 mins into our drinks and snacks we were approached by Capt Santanu Sen to vacate the table. He said there is another party ON THE WAY. As there was another table for 6 occupied by a single lady who they did not ask to move, i too politely refused to move to another table.
Is this the hospitality etiquette that you ask a sitting guest selectively to vacate a table for a group who is expected in sometime. Does it not make more sense and is proper to ask a another sitting without any order on table table of 6 to vacate before asking us to move half way into the order?
It was done out of vengeance as we overrode the request of the waiter?
Have also shared the incidence with the management of The Astor, which i know will not head to any response.
Sorry for the management who does not train their staff to be more respectful.
** Immediately after my review, i am happy to admit that the management took time to respond and assured me to look into it.
Thank you for reassuring me that the place i visit...
