Tea is the second most widely consumed drink in the world, after water. It is an aromatic beverage, prepared from fresh leaves of the Camellia sinensis, an evergreen shrub native to East Asia. The refreshing flavour immediately works as an antidote to all drowsiness and fatigue. My day starts with a strong cuppa and I daily consume two to three cups of tea without a fail. Tea based on its colour and flavour can be of various types like green tea, herbal tea, Oolong tea, white tea, fermented tea and yellow tea. The flavour highly depends on the size of the leaves and their sources. For the last couple of years, I have been a regular customer of Dhruba Tea Centre, a famous tea shop that has opened its outlet in Entally, CIT Road, near Philips Bus Stop. It takes only five minutes on the bus, from Maula Ali! Alternatively, you can reach the shop from Park Circus within ten minutes on the bus. It is just five minutes walking distance from our place. They offer various types of teas. The price is between rupees 200 and rupees 2000 per kilogram. My personal favourite is the flavoured tea that comes at 1000 rupees per kilogram. If you are a tea lover and live around CIT Road, do visit this shop. I am sure you will like their tea. I will assign them four stars out of five. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Dhruba Tea Centre A very popular store in the area, I even found a little crowd on a scorching Saturday evening. Located opposite to Lal Bazaar Kolkata Police HQ. The billing counter is on the left of the store, where you need to approach first and pay the bill. They will issue you a little token, and on the right, wait for your turn in a queue where you will be served. The minimum amount you can purchase is 100gms. The prices of different items is on the photo section. I bought Darjeeling Green Tea of worth 1200 rupees per kg, and I am dissapointed a bit. I started drinking green tea from Tetley and now this newly brought tea is not upto the standards of Tetley.

Recently I ordered tea from Dhruba Tea centre online (through Zyanna). Due to lock-down I was unable to personally purchase from their Lalbazar shop . My online order for tea was of same specification and price which I had purchased personally about two months prior to start of lock-down. Unfortunately the quality of tea I received this time was so inferior in quality - in fact it is hard to believe that it is tea at all. This is not the first time I have this problem. About one year (or so) ago I had exactly the same experience and I noticed Dhruba received several negative reviews that time for the same issue. On advice from one such reviewer I started buying tea from Makaibari store (also located at Lalbazar) for some time before I returned to Dhruba again. It appears Dhruba is losing consistency in providing good quality tea, as per my experience. I would like to add that following my previous review, Zyanna (Dhruba Tea Center) promptly contacted me, paid attention to the problem I faced and immediately replaced the tea they had delivered. This time I received tea which I was familiar with and expected to get. I appreciate their help with my problem and wish to thank them. I also modify the star...
