Read moreWhat an experience! After a long time an almost perfect experience. But before sharing in detail one point which disappointed. I had originally planned to visit to have their non Vegetarian thali for lunch.Arrived there around quarter past 1 but was told that Thali was not possible at that time, either have to wait half an hour 45 min or can get the thali item in regular plate, the reason they gave that they have limited number of Thali set and all are engaged with a large group of guests. They were all including the manager was were sorry for that.So I skipped the plan for Thali and went ahead with A La Carte menu and didn’t disappointed with the food .Now let’s get back to review.
Location: Situated inside Forum mall at Elgin road, easy to access, also around 10 min walk from Netaji Bhawan metro.
Ambience: Perfect ambience with pleasant lighting and comfortable sitting arrangements, not congested.
Service: Everyone from server to manager were too courteous, specially manager Mr Amit,he was too sorry for not able to serve the Thali. During the meal they were too attentive and asking about food or any new requirements that I had to request them to let me concentrate on food, will certainly call them if anything required or wrong.
Food: Now comes to main part,I ordered Mutton Kosha,Bhetki Paturi with Govindobhog bhog rice. They serves papad,Raita and savory tomato chutney complementary.Among all Bhetki paturi was perfect,Bhetki fish marinated in coriander based marination and steamed in banana leaf. Mutton Kosh was good too and went well with steamed rice, the rice was full of fragrance. Ended the meal with Nolen Gurer IceCream which was a perfect way to end the feast.
For few price may be on little higher side but as per my experience it’s justified, its value for money with the ambience, service and food quality they are providing.
Overall a certainly a recommended place and will certainly visit again,this...
Read moreNever ever go for buffets in Oh Calcutta!!! It's so disappointing to see that such a place of repute could stoop so low with their standards in the name of a Jamai soshti special buffet spread...the food on the spread starting with the mutton, fish, chicken were all too salty n unpalatable...the fish was as skinny as could be...it seemed their only objective was to pull in as much people as possible with an offering of such mediocre food...not expected from a brand name like them...there advertising n marketing for jamai soshti buffet was on point but they completely failed to deliver...we couldn't eat any of the mains n when my mom gave the feedback to a senior staff he tried to make amends but the behaviour of another staff who was in charge I guess was not hospitable at all...he very pointedly said to my mom that we were there for 2 hrs( as if we didn't have the right to stay so long so they can fetch in more customers) why didn't we say before when he had supposedly asked once( i guess before we had even tasted the mains)...as if it was all our fault that their food standard was so low...he asked if he could get something from the dessert that was already there ( as if we cant get it ourselves) My mom asked for ice cream n he acted as if he was doing a big favour by offering an ice cream which was not in buffet...ofcourse only vanilla available..no other flavours..according to him..thats what he said not very politely again when my mom asked for butterscotch...he separately asked me if I wanted also!!!! That was laughable. Nonetheless the senior staff made amends by packing a couple of items for us but truly that's no compensation for the kind of experience we had...we truly wanted to enjoy the food experience n hospitality there but that was not to be...therefore I would strongly advice to avoid buffet in...
