Buckwheat Restaurant, located in the heart of Leh's main market near Jama Masjid, is a culinary treasure for anyone eager to experience authentic Balti cuisine. The restaurant offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal amidst the bustling market.

The menu is a testament to the rich culinary heritage of Baltistan, featuring a variety of traditional dishes that are both flavorful and meticulously prepared. The standout item is the buckwheat bread , a local delicacy that pairs wonderfully with many of the main courses. The flavors are bold and vibrant, showcasing the fresh, local ingredients used in every dish.

Notable dishes include the Tsamik kisieer, which masterfully balances sweet and savory elements, and the chanbalay, known for its tenderness and depth of flavor. The use of local spices and herbs infuses each dish with an authentic taste that truly captures the essence of Balti cuisine.

Service at Buckwheat Restaurant is exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff who are knowledgeable about the menu and eager to provide recommendations. Their warm hospitality enhances the overall dining experience, making you feel right at home.

In summary, Buckwheat Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone in Leh looking to savor the unique and delicious flavors of Baltistan. With its amazing food, authentic taste, and excellent service, it stands out as a top dining destination...

Totally worst experienced restaurant ever seen in Ladakh.

Taking too much time For short simple and light items they took nearly 40 to 50 minutes. And after that what we got. A cold food not such tasty and rice are totally one day earlier made .

Bad service ever seen. Service is totally worst. Waiters cannot talk in manners. Seems like that they can see us in an enemy eye. I don't know why.

Extra service totally NO. In every restaurants if you ask for some extra rice they will give you. But in here if you ask for extra rice they will ask money. And in your first plate they give you only a short handful of rice which is of only 3 to 4 bites. And in extra rice it is only 4 to 5 bites.

During...

Very good food and nice people! The owner is passionate about the food and ingredients. You can really tell from the taste, such rich flavours. They have authentic Balti cuisine, which is from the area of Turtuk. That's why there is a lot of buckwheat. But they also have Ladakhi food. You can even have all the Ladakhi dishes with buckwheat instead of wheat. For me that was great, since I can't eat a lot of wheat flour and in my opinion it tastes even better and its also more healthy. Everything my friend and I tried was tasty. The Veg buckwheat Balay (soup with buckwheat noodles), Veg Chantuk, Veg Thentuck, Veg...

I am always up for trying new cuisines and when I came across this unique one in Leh, I had to try it. I started with a Spicy Keyser with Tsamik. Keysers are buckwheat pancakes and they went really well with this chutney called Tsamik. It had main ingredient as curd. Then I tried Faymar which was made of barley. It had a thick texture and was slightly sweet in taste. The taste was absolutely nice for both dishes. Prices are slightly high but I would recommend trying out this unique cuisine. It cost me roughly 400 for these dishes.

I wanted to try some local Ladakhi food. I ordered a veg Thenthuk and veg Skyu . The Thenthuk was great, just had to spice it up a little bit. They also told that, they make their dishes using “Buckwheat” a multigrain great for health, hence the name buckwheat. The soupy broth of the Thenthuk was really warming. Thenthuk can be somewhat described as boiled wheat in soup and Skyu is basically sort of a pasta in thick tomato soup.
