Nestled in the heart of culinary tradition, Malvani Thaat is a gem that brings the soul of Malvani cuisine to life. Renowned for its authentic offerings, including delectable fish and chicken dishes, this establishment captures the essence of homemade flavors with finesse. The ambiance is welcoming and understated, featuring cool, wooden dining tables and chairs that evoke a cozy, rustic charm.
The food at Malvani Thaat is a celebration of simplicity and taste. Prepared with minimal oil and soda, the dishes embody the health-conscious side of Malvani cooking without compromising on flavor. The distinct aroma of Malvani masala weaves through every bite, offering diners an immersive experience of regional spices. We sampled both the vegetarian and chicken thalis. The vegetarian thali impressed with its variety—three flavorful sabjis (methi with matar, paneer, and mixed sprouts), dal, rice, roti, and curd—all perfectly balanced in taste. Meanwhile, the chicken thali is delighted with tender chicken rasa, complemented by rice roti and fluffy, aromatic rice. Every dish felt thoughtfully crafted, reminiscent of home-cooked meals steeped in tradition. Attachment photos: veg thali and...
Read moreWhile it was pouring down heavily in the streets of khandala / lonavala we came across Malwani thaat , it looked like a home made authentic joint in main street
We spoke to the lady owner and took the menu and few of her recommendations
After reaching our room we ordered
Chicken Tandoori Half - it was very well marinated but toooooooo spicy 🥵...just not eatable (240)
Chicken Lollipop - Very well deep fried and good amount of chicken but again tooooooo spicy 🥵 bearly eatable (200)
Chicken Masala Curry - made with authentic masala and fresh good pieces of chicken used but again very very very spicy 🥵 (220)
Plain Chapati was freshly made and sent (15)
Steam Rice - Good (50)
Conclusion - It was not just me but my entire family felt the food was very spicy 🥵
It may be a mistake from the chef or the lady owner who did not see that we had come with kids to instruct make it staple food or maybe they serve spicy and we did not instructed to make it staple
Overall - quantity perfect , quality perfect, taste - no comments ( as everything was over spicy ) packaging - perfect
Hope to edit the review post my next visit to your restaurant till then all...
Read moreIt's a good place to eat for seafood when you're in Lonavala. They serve it as starters, main course and thalis too. For starters, we tried Mandeli Fry, which was crunch, well-cleaned and tasty. (Mandeli is a small fish, a little larger than french fries, and tastes even better). We tried 3 types of Thalis Prawn Thali Pomfret Thali Surmai Thali
The gravy for all the thali is the same. It's okay, could be better if it's turned a little spicier.
Regarding the meat, it wasn't to the utmost satisfaction. Prawns were overcooked sp had turned a little hard than the expectation of them to be softer and juicier. Pomfret tasted weird for some reason. Surmai was well cooked, a little overcooked to be more dense.
Overall, it was a one-time visit for us. Do try, when you're in Lonavala, where everywhere you see is...
