City Hut Dhaba is a must visit place during holidays in Shillong. You expect good ambiance, good food, good service, they're top in every category, perfect for lunch or dinner with family or friends. Usual waiting is very long here so the service but it's worth it. While waiting they served a refreshing drink as complimentary also some baked papad. We took their speciality dishes as per the recommendation of their staffs and tried them with butter naan. Smoked Chicken Butter Masala @ Rs.380 (4/5) ------------------------------------------------ It was way different than traditional butter chicken, texture was smooth and creamy, smoky flavours but little on the sweeter side. It definitely tasted good. Chicken Laziz Masala @ Rs.370 (3/5) ----------------------------------------- It was the spicier version of smoked chicken butter masala, richer and hot. Those who don't like the sweet nature of the gravy can go with it. Duck Bhunawala @ Rs.470 (2/5) ------------------------------------- Although this is also their speciality still I'll highly recommend you not to order this if you can't handle heat. By heat I mean the chilli and spices of the mountains are of next level even if you love having spicy food still it will make you sweat. Pricing as per the class of this restaurant is quite reasonable compared to any metro city. Conclusion ----------------- City Hut Dhaba in Shillong need no introduction. Do visit and try their North Indian delicacy. Tip, do try Twisted Scoops ice creams located just beside City Hut.

The place is really classy and had really good ambience. The music is very soothing, you can hear while you eat. I had - 1. Smoked chicken butter masala - The dish literally had that Smoky flavor. Chicken was juicy and had a spicy taste to it. It was full of chicken and creamy spicy taste. With Garlic naan as it is one of my favorites. And this place exactly knows how to make them. Was really impressed with such good garlic naan. 2. Kashmiri pulao - The rice had a sweet taste to it and honestly the taste was so delicious just because they use fruits like pineapple to make the rice sweet and nothing else. Addition of fruits on it and making it natural sweet. Never had such good kashmiri pulao ( Use lemon to balance the taste if you feel too sweet ). 3. Chicken chilli garlic Noodles - To spice it up this dish is just perfect. Perfect flavor of spices. Filled with chicken pieces and veggies.

Had heard a lot about this place. Visited and found it to be a unit of Jiva. The ambience is good. The place is situated with Earle Holiday Home which looks like it's an old establishment. The place has ample parking. The Dhaba has three eating halls and a party hall. The toilets are clean, just like at any other Jiva outlet. However, I found the washbasin dirty in the Men's toilet. My better half told me that the lady's washroom was very neat. We ordered Mutton Bhuna (480), Tawa Subjee(320), Yellow Dal fry (180) & tandoori roti (50 each). The portions were sufficient. The Mutton was largely bones and was disappointing. The dal was the best. The subjee was okay; and was predominantly capsicum and cauliflower. The food is overrated, to be frank. The service was quick though. As for Non-Veg, they only serve Chicken, fish & Mutton. If you want to have some North Indian food at Shillong, City Dhaba is the place. Enjoy the ambience, but don't place much store on the food.

City Hut Family Dhaba is a great place. The food is amazing and so is the service. Truly fine dine service and the items are priced well. We dined here thrice. First day we had vegetarian food which was great and second day and third we had non veg. Their Badhsahi Chicken is a must try, this is a dish which they service half or full as per your requirement which is superb. We ordered half portion and it was good enough for us alongwith the other items. I would say that they have the best chefs and best stewards as well. Special mention of Steward Mr. Digambar who served us twice and was very prompt. The attention they give to their guests is just amazing. Please note that you will have to go a bit early so you don't have to wait since this is a very much busy place and there is usually a waiting here. It's the number 1 restaurant in Shillong.

We have been to City Hut Family Dhaba for first time for dinner on christmas's next day . It’s a family-owned restaurant, with friendly service and fency cooking styles, Their dishes are quite popular at dinner, but In my opinion, they really excel at deserts. The menu has lots of variety, and the specials are interesting. There is a good mix of sweet and savory options and even some healthy choices. Portions are very generous. It’s popular so be prepared to wait if you come later than 4:30 PM. We ordered only veg menu including two type of soups, one appetizer and main course. Service was very late and very disappointing. We have waited for 1hour for the food even after ordering the food. Ambience is so good, we like the vibe of this location but good food is the priority for customer.

Beautiful place but very crowded. We had to wait for 40 mins to a table. I can understand its in the heart of the city and very popular, also being a Sunday it was even more crowded. But being hungry and waiting for 40 mins for a table and then food, also having kids arround, its not recommended though. Anyways, coming to the food and ambience, it was really good.. Food was good and the ambience too..but as mentioned above it was so crowded, full of crazy people who was shouting and laughing their hearts out without thinking of otger people and not having the slightest bit of polite table manners... Maybe going ona week day wpuld have been better. Anyways overall remarks is good. But maybe they can consider expanding the place and having more tables around..
