I've always wanted to try out an Iftar spread, especially the Haleem. A couple of weeks ago I did see Eden Restaurant post an Iftar Box menu, but it was @dine_with_daniella_ 's reel a few days back that made me decide to go & try it today.

With me is Erwin who was also excited to try the Haleem. It's been 5years since I last visited this place & it sure looked better than what I remembered. We took a table. We wanted the Eden Special Iftar Gift box. Sadly the boxes are only available if one pre-orders them before 3pm. It was 1:30pm. We were stumped. Fortunately, the à la carte menu was available. We ordered the Mutton Haleem, Murgh Handi Lazeez, Rumali Rotis & Firni. I didn't order the Galauti kebab since I've tried them before & they just didn't match up to the ones in Lucknow.

The Haleem came with a bowl of Birista & lime. The murgh handi had 4 pcs of chicken cooked in a thick rich yoghurt sauce. The rumali rotis were hot & had a consistent thickness. The firni looked very appetizing.

Anyway I added the birista to the haleem & squeezed the lime on top. I tore a piece of the roti & scooped out the haleem. This my first haleem & it just blew my mind. The pounded porridge like meat had such subtle flavors. The murgh handi was also nice & cooked well but didn't match up to the haleem. The firni was the best I've had in Shillong. It had a slight grainy texture, not too sweet, with a balanced saffron flavor. Erwin ordered a second one.

This was a lovely intricate & delicious experience.

The food was good however in terms of cleanliness and hygiene I was utterly disappointed. Immediately upon my entry I got very strong foul smell of the washroom. Washroom was dirty and stinky and the smell was around in the whole restaurant. The issue was conveyed to the staff who sprayed the room freshener which could hardly suppress the awful smell. The staff asked us to change the seat to resolve the problem instead of solving the root cause. My family somehow ate whatever they could, since they had already ordered the food, whereas I took only juice and got impatient to leave the premises. PLEASE GIVE IMPORTANCE TO HYGIENCE AND CLEANLINESS. ...A concerned...

Visited here during our Shillong trip.It is located in the main point of the market in Police Bazar. Environment of the restaurant is good with nice staff behaviour.We had tried mutton roll at first before ordering dinner to check the food quality.Really amazing food quality but price is little bit costly.After that we ordered Chicken tikka masala and butter nan in dinner which was just outstanding and again the price is little bit costly. Interestingly they also serve halal foods.So who are in search of halal food during shillong trip u can take food from here as this restaurant is certified...
