Adarsh Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Mumbai

I wanted to have some good food in the restaurant. I had not taken my mother out since March. So we planned for a nice Wednesday dinner at oceanic in chembur. I was Visiting it for the first time. The reviews and photographs looked promising, it seemed good for seafood (as the name too suggests). once we reached there the people greeted us saying it's oceanic. But name oceanic was not lit. Menu did not seem much of fish variety too. We asked for help and order 2 starters and 1 fish biryani. Bombay duck fry was gone bad. We did not complained thinking it must have been an accident. The next dish was bigger surmai Tikka. That too had some bad fishes in it. Last was adarsh special biryani, (confusing due to the name being oceanic). The masala mix was good, it had prawns and fish boneless. Prawns was fine but fish was stale. Totally gone bad. And being a fish lover and have tasted fish at all places I hated the quality that they served. It was a Wednesday. Usually fishes are freshly served on Wednesday Friday Saturday and Sunday in a good restaurant. Inspite of being a Wednesday it was pathetic fish and we felt our evening was spoilt. We did not complain being a modest family. But we did inform the person attending us and he had no reaction. Pathetic place I would have wanted to give 0star but I don't have an option for this. I don't know the history if this place existed earlier or no but not in Dec 2020 this is the worst place one can vist to have a good time with family, no where close...

Adarsh is one of the oldest restaurant cum bars in Chembur. It is also one of the only manglorean style food joints. But it is as a bar that Adarsh really shines. Over drinks try the mandeli fry or bambil fry, squid sukka, and the egg bhajiya. The veg bhajiya platter is also crazy good, but watch out for the chilli bhajiya; unforgiving Another alltime favourite side while drinking is chakli and schezwan sauce.

If you are going to eat then the kori roti is a must have. The kori roti is a chicken curry with crisp rice roti. You pour the curry on top of the rice roti , wait till it soaks in and then eat it. The chicken is normally a village chicken, but you can ask for "English chicken" to get broiler. Another to try dish is the fish curry and rice. Adarsh is excellent for 2 or for a large group. The service is excellent and one has to be careful not to "repeat"...

Oceanic Restaurant is what we visited but now its all Adarsh R and B.. its lost its charm, prices are up 35 to 40% and was empty of guests on a Wednesday for lunch.. just 10 covers, that is it.. perhaps its the prices... We ordered our fav, Oceanic special murg mussalam and thankfully it tastes the same ... Just 400 bucks more than in 2020.. mnow its 1200 per plate (from 900 )which is sufficient for 3 folk with a hearty appetite. Earlier it was sufficient for 4 so... Perhaps the qty was marginally less.... Whatever it may be, Oceanic is over... Now its Adarsh Bar and Restaurant (AC).. visit downstairs and have a hearty meal... Why spend 80% more to enjoy...
