Adarsh is some of those places I am in complete awe of as I have been watching it's omnipresent existence for the last fifty years. It could be easily their third generation at the helms now & so will be of their support/service staff. The estate could very well be a monument given the passage of time it has travelled. They have renovated the place nicely with air-conditioning , much needed from the dust & din of the road leading to Dadar station. No fancy clientele, purely functional surroundings, feeding the souls arriving from either travel destinations or in the midst of their household buying frenzy. Adarsh treats everyone equally, without bias & offers menu cards that have hardly changed over the years but for some popular Udupi dishes & some more fancy meal assortments. You are absolutely certain to get consistent, hygienic & authentic Maharashtrian preparations , day in day out. And to my dismay, I pity those who order Udupi dishes at Adarsh , not realising these are some of the last few true blue Maharashtrian estates remaining in Mumbai given the manifestation of the ubiquitous QSRs. My favourites are always the " Puneri Misal" " Bhajneeche Thaalipeet", "Kothimbeer Vadi" & the thick n sweet, Piyush to wash these down. These are some of the quick determinants to prove the authenticity of the preps, and I hardly ever go wrong. Long live...
Read moreConsidering the current Covid situation, we expect atleast basic hygiene to be followed by the food outlets. Very unhygienic place as the food was served in dirty utensils, seems to be just dipped in water without washing. The same was brought in the notice of the owner, who just said sorry. He thought we are just bluffing, we asked the waiter to inform the owner, they both just exchanged words, spoon ganda tha kya, haan ganda tha bola aandar. Owner was not at all bothered to atleast get up his chair, go inside the kitchen to atleast check. Only 1 pav bhaji and 1 sada dosa costs Rs.310/- which was at at all worth paying Rs.50/-. No taste in food. Pav bhaji was Just boiled potatoes and served. Sada dosa was mixed batter yellow colour. Think 100 times before...
Read moreI happened to visit this restaurant today and was surprised to see following excellent points. 1) Very clean 2) Spotless white tables with nice flower pot of Rose flowers on each table. 3) Very good staff 4) The owner also offered nice Pedha being the inaugural day. 5) Food quality is very good 6) Prices are quite reasonable considering location, recent renovation cost & salary of staff. It is definitely cheaper than some Pune restaurants which are not even AC. 7) AC is very comfortable 8) Though so close to Dadar station in crowded market area, this place is noiseless once you are inside. 9) Enough distance between seats and tables and no congested feeling. 10) Recommended to visit as many times as you are near Dadar West. 11) This is now a Prime restaurant...
