Plush, velvet chairs and sofas fill up the space with tiny tables on which electric lamps sit, offering enough light to look at what you're eating but not enough to get a great photo for the 'gram. The walls are mostly covered in glass with either gold accents or are cut and panelled. The bar is elegant, as is the DJ booth. Simply put, red, black, gold, and glass dominate the decor which is quite lounge-like (and also a little intimidating) making you wonder if you're adequately dressed. We recommend wearing a trendy outfit with heels (hey, you're in Bandra after all!), or a crisp shirt and dress shoes, but that's also because Akina's dress code is semi-elegant, as they're calling themselves a fine-dine restaurant.

The chefs at Akina are bringing forth a new form of Japanese. Everything is contemporary! And, there are several Latin American influences, which give the food an interesting mix of presentation and flavours. A unique offering is the Nori Taquitos, which takes the concept of taquitos (fried tacos) from Latin American food but is made with Japanese ingredients. The Chilli Garlic Chicken Taquito is a tempura-batter-fried seaweed wrapper (nori) shaped like a taco, and packs in what would normally make a sushi roll. Sushi rice, subtly spiced chilli garlic chicken, Japanese mayo, topped with pineapple salsa, and garnished with spring onions, which makes an excellent bar bite.

The 5000-sqft restaurant is inspired by the Japanese spring flowers. One can kick back and enjoy a selection of contemporary Japanese tapas or sip on their signature cocktails at the bar. They also have a special area for private gatherings called the Akina...

DONT FALL FOR THE PHOTOS AND REVIEWS. YOU HAVENT SEEN THE KITCHEN. EVEN PIGS MIGHT PUKE SEEING THE KITCHEN . Had booked Prive by Akina for NYE as a couple . Reached the venue only to be escorted by a staff member via a “ Back entrance “ saying the Main area was booked for a private event. This back entrance was the most disastrous and unhygienic place I have ever seen . We were made to walk through 30 workers and cleaners which was very inappropriate and we had to walk through area - kitchen and garbage area and staff eating area , the most unpleasant place in front of many men in our party attire , which was extremely uncomfortable considering we had prepaid and Pre booked. When I addressed the issue with the manager he vanished for 15 mins just to return and hand me my booking amount without an apology and asked me to find another place . After being completely disappointed we started walking out, and the manager commented tauntingly, “please do come again”. I just want to say that, this is the most unprofessional staff and ugly place I have ever been to. To whoever decides to read this, just be careful of the food you’re eating. I was given a great forced tour of the kitchen and it’s the most unhygienic setup I have ever seen.

Also, thanks Akina for ruining my NYE. I did find a better place though, you fall way behind most of these...

So came across this place when a friend had recommended. We did go there and the experience was really very bad. After having a tired work day, we thought to go to a new place and just relax but one of the most bad experiences. The staff was very rude. The bald manager literally checks you out for a very weird reason. Found the staff to be rude and food isn’t that great. The only decent thing about the place is the ambience. They have made the place look really good and pretty but when you go to a place like this, you expect the staff to be sweet but it was the opposite. I would just say that if people are going there is because they can afford the place as it’s a fine dining and an expensive place. Also they seem to have a dress code thing. It is always better to mention that on the website or on Zomato or wherever they promote cuz it is very important as sometimes plans are very much sudden and made on the spot or just hang a board outside the place because it is really not cool when people enter and they are not allowed just because they are wearing shorts or flip flops. I think a board regarding rules & stuff should be outside like how they have in clubs AND AGAIN THE...

I've heard about this place for a while, so i was definitely excited to be here. The outside facade is beautifully decorated that brings that energy and spirit of Christmas. It's definitely a place to go for date night, or with a group of friends. The interiors are all shiny and just mirror work. The bar is also a good place to sit while waiting for a table. We didn't make reservations but they were able to accommodate us. So we got a table for 2 upstairs. We'd ordered the salmon sashimi, the lobster roll, the salmon & green apple tartare with a yuzu dressing. I thought the lobster rolls could be a tad better and fresh. The salmon was fresh and lovely. I would have loved to sample more dishes however it was a quick bite and we got there pretty late. Our server was Sunny, very sweet and personable. Thank you Sunny for being warm and friendly. I also ordered a glass of my favourite Asti Martini - Prosecco, and it was crisp, light and refreshing. Love that they serve it by the glass. I would definitely wanna visit Akina. I do recommend making reservations...

We arrived before our dinner slot and were able get a table. Firstly, the ambiance is brilliant. The staff was kind and attentive which was nice. We proceeded to order our food which arrived in a decent amount of time and was very delicious. The nori taquitos would seem delicious after the second bite. We got prawn and nori crackers as small sides while we waited for our food. The Korean fried chicken had a good crunch. The prawn and chive dim sums were served really hot which I loved!!! It’s rare to find restaurants that serve food this hot which was extremely delicious. The maki was really fresh and tasty. We ordered the black cod miso fish for our main which was pretty decent too. For drinks we tried a mocktail which amiable too.
