Nacho in August!
A cafe right out of a the mind of what a writer imagines when he thinks of a cafe, August Cafe is a tranquil abode with outlets in both Khar and Andheri. We visited the Khar cafe and it was worth the time! The vibe of people hanging out or even working on their personal projects is something that is going to be understood only by visiting
Talking about the food, they've got all the sections covered! Vegetarians, non-vegetarians, jains, health conscious people, they have all the types of people covered in their menu. For starters, we tried out their Nachos and Mediterranean platter. They claim it to be the worlds best and it is a rightful claim in my eyes. The cheesy goodness without the overpowering stickiness of the cheese along with the perfect blend of yogurt, salsa and more elements with the crispy nachos made it absolutely YUM! It is their bestseller, their pride and it is is something which is definitely OUR RECCOMENDATION! The Mediterranean platter's combo of Pita bread and sweet sauces along with of course, their meatballs were a treat on the tongue. There was a subtle Lebanese hint to the meatballs that made it so enjoyable to gorge on.
The main course consisted of Mexican Rice with Chicken Skewers and Tandoori Grilled Steak with Makhani Sauce. The balance of the Mexican rice was accentuated by the heat of the chicken skewers well. The Tandoori Grilled Steak's juicy and tender bites were the perfect foil for the Makhani sauce to seep in and enhance the taste.
A scrumptious meal was capped off with the delicious dessert. The Oreo and Nutella milkshake was a relief in the scorching heat. The highlight was the Affagato Ice Cream Sundae, with its creamy caramel exterior covering the coffee well. The sundae will hit you right in the sweet spot and the coffee will kick you into overdrive, ensuring you are in a good mood and ready to complete anything in your way.
For those who prefer the wind and breeze, they have outdoor seating arrangements and the ones who prefer the slight chill in the heat can sit in the air conditioned section. An underrated aspect of the cafe is the easy-to-use and understand menu, where you can flip from one section that fancies you to another in a flurry. A must-visit if you ask us, August Cafe is a great spot for 2 people to hang out and enjoy each...
Read moreIf you are looking for a cute and cosy cafe serving good food, coffee & beverages, look no further. Just a few meters off linking road in Khar you will find August Cafe. They serve a variety of Jain, Vegan and keto dishes which are all of amazing quality & taste. All the breads & sauces and made in-house. We tried a few of the dishes from a vast menu of comfort and healthy foods.
I tried the following dishes -
Hot Chocolate: One of the best hot chocolates weâve come across in the city. Scrumptious, hot and dark are the only words we can use to describe this piece of art in a cup! Be sure to visit just to try the hot chocolate.
Cheese Garlic Bread: Freshly baked bread with amazing mozzarella cheese with a distinct flavour of garlic. The bread had a crusty exterior while being soft and dense on the inside. Fresh mozzarella cheese for the perfect cheese pull. The garlic flavour was fresh & savoury.
Worldâs best nachos: The name is totally justified ;) This might be the only cafe serving baked nacho chips instead of fried ones. The chips were perfectly crunchy and delicious. The toppings were amazing, the salsa was fresh and spicy and the guacamole was one of the best ones I have had in Mumbai.
Oreo Nutella Shake: Felt like a heavenly waterfall of chocolaty bliss. Combining two crowd favourites oreo and Nutella, this shake is perfect for your dessert craving. It is a must try and i highly recommend it.
Jain Caprese Pizza & Spaghetti Pink sauce: Authentic Italian preparation. The flavour of fresh basil is prominent in both dishes. The pizza contained fresh tomato sauce topped with basil and fresh mozzarella cheese. A drizzle of exotic truffle oil completed this amazing pie. Spaghetti was perfectly cooked to al dente...
Read moreVisited August Café recently and had quite a mixed but overall pleasant experience.
Starting with the Pho, this unfortunately missed the mark. It wasnât authentic, used the wrong type of noodles, and the balance of flavours was overwhelmed by an excess of chilli oil and flakes. The Soy Chilli Noodles were also underwhelming; they lacked depth and flavour, and didnât really stand out as a noodle dish.
On the brighter side, the Nachos were, as always, spot on, crisp, generously topped, and satisfying. The Chicken Steak with Peri Peri Sauce was another highlight, perfectly cooked, tender, and flavourful, paired beautifully with fresh, well-seasoned vegetables.
For drinks, the Elderberry Fizz with soda and basil seeds was refreshing and unique, while the Cappuccino was smooth and well-prepared.
Desserts were a strong finish to the meal; thereâs a great variety to choose from. The Tiramisu Waffle was indulgent without being overly sweet, and the Ice Cream Sundae with a brownie base, ice cream, and caramel sauce was rich and satisfying.
The service deserves special mention, the staff are exceptionally polite, attentive, and quick. Thereâs an air-conditioned indoor section for comfort, as well as outdoor seating with a smoking area for those who prefer al fresco dining.
Not every dish hit the right note, but the warm service and pleasant ambience stood out. That said, for the meal we had and the overall experience, the pricing felt steep. While the service and setting are commendable, some dishes need refinement for the cost to...
