Recently, I visited this restaurant for dinner with a friend, and the experience was truly memorable. Upon entering, the first thing that caught my attention was the beautiful dessert display near the entrance. The dining area was upstairs, so we headed there, and I was immediately impressed by the ambiance. The restaurant is beautifully designed with elegant frames that seem to tell stories, lovely lighting, and thoughtfully arranged seating, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere.
We started with two mocktails. The first one, with jamun, ice mint, and soda, had a fancy name on the menu, but it turned out to be quite underwhelming, tasting like regular kala khatta. However, the second mocktail—a mix of lemon, milkmaid, and banana—was exceptional. The flavors were well-balanced, creamy, and refreshing. It was a standout drink that I thoroughly enjoyed.
For appetizers, we ordered the pork belly tacos, and they were absolutely mesmerizing. The pork belly was soft, tender, and packed with flavor, perfectly complemented by balanced spices. Each bite was fulfilling and delightful. Next, we had the mutton bheja masala served with pav. The presentation was on point, especially with the vinegar-soaked onions, which added a tangy touch. The bheja was smooth, rich, and seasoned perfectly, making it melt in the mouth.
The star of the evening was the curry leaves chicken. It was juicy, tender, and full of flavor, with the aroma and essence of curry leaves in every bite. The dish came with two Malabar parathas that were soft yet had a crisp crunch, making it a perfect combination.
One unique and fun feature here is the puzzle laid on the tables. While waiting for your order, you can enjoy solving it, either alone, in a group, or with your partner. It’s a fun way to pass the time and adds a quirky touch to the dining experience.
The staff was polite, calm, and very cooperative. Service was quick, and they ensured a smooth and enjoyable experience. The ambiance, with its beautiful frames, lighting, and seating, truly stands out, making it a wonderful place to dine. Plus, valet parking added to the convenience.
While one of the mocktails was a bit disappointing, the outstanding food and overall experience more than made up for it. Dishes like the pork belly tacos, mutton bheja masala, and curry leaves chicken are a must-try. I look forward to visiting again and exploring more...
Read moreFreny’s is this cozy 2 storrey restaurant with a delightful mix of traditional and modern elements. I’ve been here 3 times now since its opening & will be back for sure. It’s a family run restaurant where everyone is warm and inviting. A great reflection of chef Freny’s personality. The food reminds you of a good refined home cooked meal. What we dream of always is her pillowy soft and light fugiyas with that delicious herbed butter. We call it pillows of heaven! I haven’t had this anywhere else and it’s the star of the show in my opinion. My friends and I agree that we could have big baskets of it! Our favorites so far have been the masala tiger prawns, the really spicy bottle masala chicken wings, Monica’s roast chicken(the liver stuffing is heaven) and Parker kheema. Many dish names have some thoughtful reference and if chef Freny is around, she is happy to explain. Peter’s mutton curry named after her dad who we had the honor of being cooked for by, was hearty and homey. The lamb chop was a letdown though because it lacked meat and wasn’t what we were expecting. It had a potato mash & rawa crust on it. The Indyal pork tacos were good but could use more meat. The chicken soup for the soul was nice. We have yet to try the pastas, pizzas and breakfast items. The desserts were amazing and quite evidently chef Freny’s specialty. The Matilda cake was everything it promised to be and then some. A warm and goey rich pull-up cake in the best way possible. The Sunday Sundae was nostalgia in a tall glass. That combination of custard, jelly and fruit is what childhood dreams are made of. She of course refined it with the addition of cake bits and a refreshing sorbet. While leaving you have the option to grab a cotton candy stick and your inner child is happily beyond content. All in all this place is everything it says it is. Homely, warm and serves good food! It is unique and charming and...
