A Tale of Two Cuisines: South Indian Excellence vs. Chinese Letdown

I’ve been a regular at High Point Veg Restaurant, having enjoyed their South Indian specialties like masala dosa, idli vada sambhar, tomato onion uttapam, and rava masala dosa on several past visits. These dishes have consistently delivered the rich flavors and textures one expects from a well-established South Indian eatery. However, my recent foray into their Chinese cuisine left much to be desired, warranting a cautious 2-star rating overall.

A Disappointing Dive into Chinese Cuisine

Lured by multiple glowing reviews on Zomato and Swiggy, I decided to explore the restaurant’s Chinese menu. I ordered three dishes—a rice option, a noodles dish, and a main gravy—to get a comprehensive taste: • Burnt Garlic Noodles: Despite the intriguing name, these noodles turned out to be bland, with a stale texture that did not live up to the promise of aromatic garlic notes. • Veg Fried Rice: Expected to be a flavorful accompaniment, the fried rice was devoid of any significant seasoning or spice, leaving it tasting flat and uninspired. • Mushroom Chilly in Schezwan Sauce: Perhaps the most disappointing of all, the mushroom in this dish was undercooked, and the overall preparation lacked the bold flavors characteristic of a well-executed Schezwan sauce.

Each dish suffered from one glaring issue: a profound lack of taste. It felt as if the Chinese menu was added merely for the sake of variety, rather than as a thoughtfully curated culinary experience.

Overpriced for the Outcome

To add to the disappointment, the final bill was steep relative to both the quality and quantity of the food served. When paying a premium, diners expect a memorable, flavor-rich meal—a standard the Chinese offerings at High Point simply did not meet.

Final Thoughts

While I would have preferred to give zero stars for the Chinese experience, my past positive encounters with their South Indian dishes have compelled me to settle on a 2-star rating overall. High Point Veg Restaurant remains a go-to for South Indian cuisine enthusiasts, but I would advise potential customers to think twice before trying their...

Early Dinner @ High Point Lokhandwala We were 6 of us & we ordered a bit of everything.

Must Have :- Pav Bhajji , Tawa Pulao , Gini Dosa , Dahi Batata Puri , Paneer Schezwan Dry , Hara Bhara Kebab, Veg Pizza & Juices

Our Order was as follows :- Hara Bhara Kebab - Tasty 😋 Hakka Noodles - Bland . Let down 👎 Paneer Schezwan dry - Spicy & Tasty Tawa Pulao w/ raita - Yummy Gini Dosa - Hot & Spicy 👍 Chopsuey Dosa - Let down 👎 Sp Pav Bhajji with extra Pav - 👍 Dahi Batata Puri - Superb 👍 Veg Pizza 🍕 - Nice 👍

Drinks Sweet Lassi - Too thick & too sweet Mara Mari Or Munna Munni juice depending whether you want mosambi or pineapple as your mix with orange . Watermelon Juice - Very Nice with water melon pieces @ the end . Please don’t add glucose ( sugar ) or ice to your juice . It’s much healthier

Note :- I would recommend to skip the sandwiches here & opt for other tasty items to choose from .

Overall Summary HP is a famous restaurant in Lokhandwala which serves fast food, south & North Indian dishes @ reasonable prices. HP has two sections ( open area & inside - a/c area ) HP is a pocket friendly place for a quick bite or a full meal where you actually pay for good food quality , decent quantity, polite staff , quick service with minimum ambience & decor thereby providing full customer satisfaction in terms of VFM.

Hi Friends, I have been to this restaurant many times. Its location is very convenient and its a good option for eating veg food at any time of the day. It have a good menu of chinese, indian italian, panjabi food, breakfast and lunch dinner options. They also have sweet shop outside the restaurant that serve tasty Indian sweets and kulfi. I tried their kulfi and kala janum and found it tasty. Their paav bhaji, dosas, parathas, pulao are tatsy. Must try is Ginni dosa. Ginni dosa is quite tasty here. I am posting my favorite Ginni dosa photo here. I want to give them 3.5 rating, but In am giving them 4 rating for their ginni dosa, easy location, good service, good sweets and many good dishes, and verity in menu. On a flip side, I had a bad experience of eating stale sambhar in a summer day. I suggest them to always serve fresh sambhar and they must always use all fresh ingredients, food and chatanis and serve fresh to customers. They must take more care of it during summer time. I hope they take care of freshness every time.
