Jai Hind Lunch Home, Pali Naka, Bandra (west)
Jai Hind is a brightest shining star of the galaxy of coastal cuisine restaurants in Mumbai. With the few branches spread across the city, this branch at Bandra, Pali Naka is their first branch. The other one is on the Linking Road, which seems to be rather spacious and well furnished. But as a foodie, my hunt is always for a 'Value for money' restaurants with excellent quality and quantity and this desire of mime gets fulfilled only in humble homely restaurants. This branch at Pali Naka has been renovated recently and has only five tables in all. I recommend to reserve a table in the evening as its a very old and famous restaurant in the area and gets filled quite soon.
The list of dishes we ordered :
Patra Ni Macchi (Basa) Bombil Thali Chicken Sukka Thali
Let me begin with the most yummiest first. The chicken sukka was simply top quality stuff made with supreme perfection. It was creamy with great blend of masalas and literally made us lick our fingers till the end. The chicken pieces were one of the softest and well marinated ones I ever had. The Bombil was crispy and crunchy on the outside and soft juicy within. The soul kadi (pink broth) was thick and made with actual coconut milk. The texture of the chapatis were homely and rice was soft, fresh and well cooked.
Patra Ni Macchi was steamed to ultimate perfection, which retained the original flavour of the soft melting Basa fish. The green stuffing on it was blend of spicy and sour.
Over all, A must visit restaurant.. Staff is helpful

Read moreSo I called Jai Hind, Pali as soon as they opened, around 1145am and enquired if they had crabs.. I told him we would be traveling almost 2hrs to get there, The guy confirmed there were medium crabs available. We got there the guy waiting out asked if I had called earlier that morning, i said YES very happily and smiled.. We then placed our order, soon after he came up to us saying, sorry they didn't have crabs. His explanation didn't make sense whatsoever but we didn't want to ruin our lunch. Anyways we had squid sukha which was the only good dish, surmai curry was okay like what we make at home, bombil fry was salty n just with turmeric pwdr and wasn't de boned, when I asked about it he said you didn't tell us else we would have. I told the waiter we even do it at home so I thought a restaurant would definitely do it. All in all it was a disappointing experience at Jai...

Taste - The taste of the food is fantastic. The fish is fresh, served hot and tastes delicious. We ordered the following dishes:
a. Pomfret Fry Thali: The thalis of Jai Hind is always good. The thali included one big fried Pomfret, 3 chapatis/rotis, rice, fish curry, papad and solkadhi. The fish was delicious. It was fresh and hot. The curry was also perfect and the solkadhi tasted amazing.
b. Surmai Fry Thali: The Surmai fry piece was big. It was tender and soft. It also tastes delicious.
Service - The service is quick. The staff was friendly with us.
Location - It is located quite far from the Bandra station. If you visit the Pali Hill area of Bandra West, then you must visit this place.
Overall, a small but great place to have seafood.
