BEWARE!!! BEWARE!!! BEWARE!!! BEWARE!!!
This establishment is unscrupulous and cheating all customers without most of us realising it!!! Avoid them at all costs, esp., regular customers you have been overpaying for your every meal. Next time you are here please check your bill thoroughly. If any of you also have been cheated, please report them to the Consumer Tribunal at the earliest. So this what happened. We went for a dinner at this place with friends. When the bill came, as usually we do, I checked the name and no of the items charged. I never checked the rest of the calculation and how the total was arrived at. I paid off the bill in full, but a bit later realised the following were not right, and how I got cheated.
Item 1: They quietly inserted a 5% service charge. On pointing out it’s not compulsory and I would prefer paying a cash tip instead, they refused to even hear me. They constantly mentioned that it’s written on the Menu. As you can see from the attached pictures, it’s purposely written in Yellow in very small font, so that it can be barely seen, esp., not at all in the evenings in low light conditions. On asking to show where it’s written their own manager took close to 5 mins staring at the menu to even find it, as even after knowing that its there, they could not find it!!
Item 2: They illegally charged 2.5% CGST and 2.5% SGST on the service charge as well (Charged GST on Rs 1,522/-) instead of the base bill amount (of Rs. 1,450/-) (attached is the bill as a proof). As it’s a minor amount (Overall 0.25% extra on the total amount), none of us would even realise the cheating. As per Govt. of India regulations, GST is to be charged only on the Base Bill amount and not the Service Charge Portion, which is even optional. So, I am very sure the establishment is illegally collecting GST on the service charge from us, but doesnt pay to the Govt. This is how they are making a little more money from all of us by cheating their customers. Considering the daily high turnover they have, imagine the Total R. they are cheating their customers as well as Govt of India.
Item 3: For a total of Rs. 1,598.10/-, the bill is rounded up to 1599 instead of rounding down to 1598 as per the usual practice.
Incredible amount of hard work has gone into cheat people by few Rs here and there, and considering the volume this will easily add up soon and run into lakhs of un accounted for money, if you understand what I mean :) ..
Please be aware of this and let others also know by posting your feedback here in reply to mine or independently, so that people can avoid the cheating which goes on at this place.
Also average food. You can get for cheaper much better, fresher, food nearby like...
Read moreI usually visit Mumbai for music concerts and every time I go for one, despite it ending over the weekend, I book my flights a day later just so I can visit Soul Fry on a Monday night for the karaoke. This place was suggested by my Goan friend who stumbled upon it for it’s authentic Goan cuisine and great vibe. And for the past couple of years I’ve made it a ritual to go here with my friends every time we visit Mumbai.
Every visit I had here has been nothing short of a fantastic experience. From the excellent service by the waiters, the yummy taste of well-made Goan food to the fun vibe the place and it’s people exuberate, it’s become my goto place in Mumbai for a fun night of singing. Even the hosts of the karaoke are very gracious and friendly and made each of our visit a memorable one, thus urging me to drop a 5-star rating which this venue has earned. The only disappointment I had was I end up getting just one song to sing every time and it feels a little disappointing considering the overall effort I put to come here but I wouldn’t hold this against the venue or it’s event hosts because the place has always been packed with people who came to sing—and I imagine that the regulars would get a more preferred treatment, as they should. I am very happy to recommend this place to any group of people who love good music, yum goan food and are craving for a well-balanced karaoke experience esp. on a...
Read moreIf you don't care for the razmatazz of the restaurant ans just need good soul satisfying Goan food in the heart of Mumbai , this would be the place. While I am no expert on Goan cuisine , I have tasted at a few places and this place surely reminds me of the small authentic Goan village restaurants. Was glad that I read about them opening in Goa and learnt about they having started in Bandra ( yes it's the other way around here 😀) ... The Calamari Green Chilly Garlic was good in starters but the Prawns Richada was awesome. We also had a paneer green chily garlic and we're not disappointed by the quality of the paneer ( yes, yes ...some of us are vegetarian 😀) The Prawns Balchao and the Goan Sausage Chilly Fry for main course was amazing too. While we didn't have the Mutton or Chicken Xacuti, my wife liked the mixed veg Xacuti so I presume you won't go wrong with the non veg version as well.
The cocktails were also nice but a bit heavy on the ice than necessary I felt.
The only thing stopping me from giving it a perfect 5 star was the portion or quantity of each serving. But definitely would visit here once again !
Oh and as usual for Bandra, don't think of finding parking anywhere close so better leave for gas...
