Nice restaurant in Vile Parle (E) on Subhash Road near Ram Mandir.
Easy to access from Western Express Highway and both Vile Parle and Andheri Railway station.
Had Chicken Thali (Rs. 290) and Mutton Thali (Rs. 350).
Price was reasonable and quality of food was good. Quantity was also decent. Each Thali is more than enough for 1 person.
Both Chicken and Mutton were freshly cooked and soft , tender and juicy. A bit spicy, but good. The Tambada rassa, White rassa & sol kadi given with the thali was also good.
They had a choice of Chappati or Bhakri for Thali. I took Jowar bhakri.
Food was authentic Kolhapuri food. It was a bit spicy. So if you don't like spicy food, tell them beforehand and they will try to accommodate you and try to make it less spicy.
They specialise in Kolhapuri cuisine. But they also have other food available like Punjabi, Chinese, Mughlai etc.
They specialise in non-veg food, but even for vegetarian food, they have lots of options available.
The service was courteous and professional. The ambiance inside and decor was also good.
They have enough space and tables both inside (AC room) and outside patio seating.
They cook food from scratch, so it took about 15-20 minutes for the food to arrive after we ordered. Fresh is good 😊.
If you live in Vile Parle and Andheri area , definitely visit this restaurant at least once & try it out.
Parking is not really available, so you might have to park your car on some side street.
Considering they just opened they are doing quite well. I give it 4 out of 5 star.
Will probably visit again to try some of their...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Lai Bhari Restaurant and I must say, it's hands-down the best restaurant in town for Kolhapuri seafood!
From the moment we walked in, the ambiance and hospitality were top-notch. The decor was elegant and sophisticated, with a touch of traditional Kolhapuri flair. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations.
Now, onto the main event – the food! Oh, the glorious food! We ordered the Special Kolhapuri Mutton Thali, Chicken Lollipop, Butter Garlic Prawns, Surmai Thali & Prawns Fry. Each dish was expertly prepared, presented, and packed with flavor.
The Kolhapuri Fish Curry was a masterclass in balancing spices, with a perfect harmony of heat, sweetness, and tanginess. The fish was cooked to perfection, flaking apart effortlessly. The Prawns Fry was superb & Butter Garlic Prawns was another standout, with succulent prawns smothered in a rich, velvety sauce.
The Solkadi was the perfect accompaniment to our meal, providing a cooling contrast to the spicy dishes. We also tried the Basundi & Matka Kulfi which was delicate, and paired beautifully with the Taste.
In short, Lai Bhari is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Kolhapuri seafood. The quality of food, service, and ambiance is unparalleled in town.
Price: Moderate to upscale (but worth every penny!) Recommended for: Seafood lovers, Kolhapuri cuisine enthusiasts, special occasions, and business dinners. Will I return?: Absolutely, and with...
Read moreI have never had such a disastrous experience at a restaurant, and I’ve certainly never felt compelled to write a negative review, even when the food and service were mediocre. But this place was so shockingly bad that I cannot stay silent. If my experience can save even one person from making the mistake of dining here, it will be worth it.
Let me start with the food. The so-called “authentic Maharashtrian” cuisine they boast about is nothing short of an insult to the rich culinary tradition of the region. The prices they charge are premium, yet the quality and taste are nothing like the real thing. The bhakris and rotis were clearly pre-cooked, and when the jawar bhakri was served, it was soggy, undercooked, and downright unpleasant. We raised our concerns with the waiter, the chef, and even the manager, and they all responded with an air of indifference, as if to say, “Take it or leave it.” Absolutely no care or professionalism.
As for the dishes themselves—two types of chicken and mutton—don’t expect any variety. Every single one tasted the same. Bland, lifeless, and lacking any real flavor. It was as though they had taken shortcuts with every step of the preparation.
I can’t stress this enough: if you value your time, money, and taste buds, stay far away from this place. The lack of respect for both the cuisine and the customer...
