Ovenstory Pizza — Restaurant in Mumbai

Pizza is possibly the most sought-after comfort food, the Go-To food option for anyone hungry & looking for a quick meal, the most easily consumed food item.

Any new line of business, food or otherwise, does attract a lot of players. Some are plain mediocre, some are good at somethings but a few remain on top of their game in terms of innovation, offerings & delivery.

There is new kid on the block, Ovenstory & they mean business in terms of competiton. They are currently functional in 10 cities across India. They have given a totally different tangent to the Pizza scene by introducing 4 different types of sauce base to choose from; Peri Peri Cheese, Chipotle Cheese, 4 Pepper Cheese & El Classico Cheese.

The Pizza was delivered exactly 5 minuted before the scheduled time and best part, no calls from the delivery guy asking for directions or landmark.

PICANTE PERIPERI PIZZA [INR 490] I had chosed the Picante Peri Peri Cheese Pizza. The sauce was layered nicely end to end. A generous spread of bell peppers, black olives, onions and Paneer on each slice was very heartening to observe. The Paneer cubes were quite chunky and nicely marinated & grilled with spices. All of this was laid on a fluffy Americano thick crust and baked to crispness. What I really missed was the spice & punch of the Piri Piri spice; for which the spice is renowned. The quantity of the spice powder used should have been more in order to tingle the taste buds.

MOLTEN LAVA CAKE [INR 90] Sent with compliments of the Ovenstory team, this Cake was just as it should be; nicely baked on the outside, soft, moist on the inside.

I am quite eager to check out on the other base sauces offered by Ovenstory. I would also suggest them to introduce a Pizza where one has an option of choosing at least 2 base sauces on each half of tne Pizza base. It will do no harm but give the consumer a chance to sample one extra sauce.

With the ever so increasing options in the space of Pizza's, Oven Story is one of the places which I recently came across. This Pizza chain brand has 25 outlets across the city. I happen to order from the Mahakali outlet, located at Andheri East. Below is the list of what I ordered for.

1)Cheese Garlic Bread: With about 6 square shaped pieces in a box, the quantity seems to be pretty ok. The taste was remarkable as this wasn't like the routine garlic breads. The centre had a burst of cheese, but missed a bit on the flavours of the base ingredient which was Garlic. The quality of the bread was good and was relatively soft than expected.

2)Corn & Olices Bruschetta: Again a dish with 6 medium sized square pieces. Similar to the garlic breads, this one too had a good quantity of cheese in the centre and was topped with sweet corn and black olives.

3)Picante Paneer Pizza: This one is a mix of Paneer Tikka, mix Bell peppers, Black olives, Onion & Tomato. The base was soft and moist with the right proportion of toppings. However, what I felt was that the Pizza sauce could have been more flavoursome, inorder to have a delectable experience.

4)Famous Five: This comes with a mix of diced Paneer, Sweet corn, Black olives, Onion & Jalapenos to add a bit of spice. The blend of toppings was good and in a good proportion, but the Pizza sauce could be made more flavoursome is what I believe.

Recommendation: Cheese Garlic Bread & Famous Five.

Ovenstory Pizza is a new delivery kitchen with many outlets across Mumbai. They have both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options for pizzas. We opted for home delivery on Thursday night.

What we ordered:

9” Roasted Veggies and Paneer Pizza – 9 inch fluffy Americano Crust with Mizzarella Cheese and Veggies

9“ Picante Paneer Pizza – 9 inch fluffy Americano Crust with Mozzarella Cheese, Paneer Tikka, Bellpeppers, Olives, Onion

The order came in proper packed box and once opened, you can see some yummy mouthwatering pizza with a small triangle table at the center to keep the box away from touching the pizza and its toppings. The pizzas were cooked perfectly with the soft but thick base to fill your tummy and the mozzarella cheese as well as taste of paneer was delicious. Delivery was quick and on time; the pizzas were hot when we ate them. Quality of the pizza was nice and quantity is fair as per the price offered.
