Sante Spa Cuisine Oshiwara – All Style No Substance

Sante Spa Cuisine in Oshiwara is the kind of place that makes you think wow this is going to be good. Gorgeous interiors, health conscious menu, the whole spa dining vibe sets the stage for something special. Unfortunately that is all it does, set the stage. The actual performance is flat, lazy, and not worth the ticket price.

We walked in expecting to be greeted. Instead we got the silent treatment while the staff scrolled through their phones like they were on break at a bus stop, not running a premium restaurant. Eventually we were seated in a corner that felt like a sauna. When we mentioned it was hot, the server shrugged and said the AC works like this only there is no blow here. No offer to move us, no attempt to fix the situation, apparently comfort is not on the menu.

Speaking of menus, asking for recommendations was a mistake. The server’s idea of guiding us was to point at items on the page like a bored tour guide. For the prices they charge you would expect a little passion or at least some knowledge of the food.

Then came the food and the seasoning crime scene. The Chlorophyll Dim Sums were salty. The Whole Wheat Spaghetti was salty. The only thing that was not salty was the Kombucha which was actually quite nice, but then again it is hard to oversalt a drink. When we flagged the issue the server said I have told the chef as if that magically solved the problem. No replacement, no re plate, not even a let me fix that for you. Just nothing.

Sante has the ambience of a place that should wow you. But if you cannot season food correctly, cannot engage with guests, and cannot offer the most basic hospitality, you are not a fine dining experience, you are an Instagram backdrop with a kitchen. Sante Spa opened its newest outlet in Oshiwara area, offering us a lovely alfresco dining area along with a warm indoor seating as well!

Known for their super clean organic cuisine, they now also sport a full-fledged bar offering a variety of cocktails & wines!

We ordered for a Cleaning drink part of their Energetic beverages followed by a glass of Red wine to get started!

The “Passata & Avocado Hummus” came on a toasted bread with fresh slices of Argentinian avocados topped with sundried tomatoes, olives, & crunchy chips – We loved the freshness in each bite!

The “Berry Burrata” was a class apart with a Dollop of fresh Burrata placed atop berries & lettuce with a side of Sourdough bread! Must Try!

The ”Spicy Korean Tofu Bowl” came with a good helping of jasmine rice and sauteed tofu slices with a thick red gravy! Satiating in each bite!

The “Zucchini Zoodles, Sicilian Hemp Pesto” beautifully presented! A stack of zoodles plated at the centre with a gravy of cashew pesto. Fun dish to have!

Lastly ended with “Cacao Forest” beautiful composition of Dark/White/Milk chocolate balls and shredded chocolate cake!

I visited Santé spa, a few weeks back to enjoy an all vegetarian meal and it was delicious. First up, we ordered their Temay satay and it was soft, succulent and well seasoned.

Next, we had their green garden pizza, which was filled with green veggies, paneer, olives and cheese on a ragi base. Needless to say, the pizza was different and tasty. The base was crunchy and well baked

After that, we had their Thukpa which was a bummer. It lacked flavour and the wheat dumpling inside had a thick outer layer.

Then, their Chlorophyll dimsums on red curry absolutely stole the show. The outer layer was thin, the filling delicious and the red sauce tied the entire dish together.

We also tried their Tagliatelle Bolognese. It was good. The sauce was a bit bland, But the pasta was well seasoned in herbs. We had their sweet potato tikka chaat. It was nice. The base of the chaat was chatpata while the tikkis were soft and their chutney was out of this world.

Lastly, their almond and coconut flour brownie was absolutely lip snaking. It was soft and warm.

Their service is quick and the staff is friendly and polite. Would 10/10...
