Nestled opposite the Ramada Inn Hotel at Juhu Beach, Shiv Sagar stands as a testament to diverse and delightful cuisine. Its extensive menu spans from authentic South Indian and Punjabi dishes to Chinese and Mexican flavors, catering to a wide array of palates. A highlight of this place is its famous falooda, milkshakes, and fresh juices, which are a treat for any dessert lover.
The ambiance is reminiscent of a classic Udipi restaurant – nothing over the top, but comfortably decent. The service quality is impressive, with fast and friendly staff adding to the pleasant dining experience.
As for the food, it's simply delectable. Being a well-established fast-food chain in Mumbai, Shiv Sagar has garnered popularity among locals who crave a quick yet satisfying meal. The dosas, especially the spring dosa and rava dosa, are a must-try. Additionally, their North Indian cuisine is noteworthy, and their adaptation of Mexican and Italian dishes to suit the Indian palate is commendable.
The pricing is reasonable, averaging around 600 Rs per person, making it an excellent choice for a mid-range dining experience. The restaurant's special features like the refreshing filter coffee and delightful sundaes further enhance the culinary journey.
Overall, Shiv Sagar is more than just a restaurant; it's a place where families can come together to enjoy a medley of flavors and dishes. While it might not be a fine dining establishment, its charm lies in the quality and variety of food it offers. Highly recommended for anyone looking to indulge in the rich flavors of Indian...
Read moreIn the early 1980s, this space was occupied by a restaurant called “Kitchen”. It was a trendy place with a menu that would be considered “modern” by the standards those days. Initially it was quite successful, but as time passed the business did not justify the rent or the opportunity cost of running it in such a prime location.
The owners of Shiv Sagar bought the space and converted it into a typical Udipi restaurant with a mostly South Indian menu. As Udipi restaurants all over Mumbai embraced North Indian dishes and Mumbai staples like paav bhaaji and chaat, so did Shiv Sagar. Of course Shiv Sagar itself started in Vile Parle East and the owners copied its successful modus operandi to this Juhu location.
The service is courteous and efficient. The prices are very reasonable. I’ve dined here many times at lunch time. The restaurant is always packed but the turnover is quick. I’ve never waited more than 5 minutes to be seated. There is always a good number of college students. Also familes. And occasionally even office goers.
The South Indian dishes are all excellent of the Udipi style. The North Indian and the other dishes have a somewhat generic taste. For instance, the last time I dined here, I ordered their Chhole-bhature. It took them a good 20 minutes to servi this dish to me but it was hot and fresh! However, the chhole had a very generic taste to them. If you visited Amritsar or Chandigarh, this isn’t how the chhole will taste there…if you understand what I mean.
Overall, a good experience, but understand that their strength is in their South...
Read moreThis place is pretty expensive than their other restaurants. I have logged a complaint as well on the Fssai and restaurant complaint email IDs. The manager said the prices of the items are almost double then their restaurant in Vile Parle or other locations because the rent of their Juhu restaurant is more... I mean seriously!!! They are operating under one owner, one brand, one GST jurisdiction and One Name still the pricing policy is not Uniform. I think their Juhu place is not even rented it's owned years back... This is really not right and is just looting Consumers like us. They can't charge me more for a dosa because they have to cover their rent!!! I mean the plain dosa at their Vile Parle outlet is around Rs.100-110 and the same dosa is for Rs. 200-210 at Juhu. Parle outlet is also equally expensive rent wise as it is also in the prime area. Secondly do they sell dosa for Rs. 50 or a price lesser than Rs. 100 at their other outlets where they pay much less rent than Juhu and Parle???? The dosa at Santacruz or other outlets where the rent is low??? I don't think so.. This is sheer looting and cheating. Details can be verified by visiting/calling their branches as rates on Zomato menu card are not updated. Pls STOP CHEATING CUSTOMERS LIKE US WHO SPEND THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY AT YOUR PLACE AS WE TRUST IN YOUR FOOD. DO NOT MIS-USE OUR...
