Shree G Bhagat Tarachand - A Vegetarian Delight in Crowded Kalbadevi!
If you're looking for authentic Punjabi vegetarian food in South Mumbai, look no further than Shree G Bhagat Tarachand! Tucked away in the bustling lanes of Kalbadevi, this place serves up delicious dishes with a generous "desi ghee ka tadka".
I highly recommend the Dal Lasoony - it's rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. The ghee chapatis were perfectly soft and fluffy.
The portions are generous (enough for two with average appetites).
While it's a bit pricey (₹₹₹), the quality and taste definitely make it worth it.
Be aware that the restaurant is small with limited seating and gets quite crowded. Thankfully, they have AC to keep things comfortable.
The staff are super efficient and friendly, providing quick service even when busy.
Important Note: There are other restaurants with similar names, so make sure you find the one with "Shree G" in the name to get the authentic experience. Overall: Delicious food, great service, and a must-try for...
Read moreWe visited Mumbadevi on a Sunday evening and decided to have dinner in a Bhagat Tarachand. There are 4 of them - in order of distance from the Temple B Bhagat Tarachand R Bhagat Tarachand G Bhagat Tarachand K Bhaga Tarachand (opp side)
We picked the third one on a hunch. The menu is similar to the other places but there is no daal baati here. Couldn't even order a tea or coffee here. We tried the following things Papad Chura - seems to be their signature dish but was pretted ordinary Masala Papad - Khichiya Masala Papad - Not crispy enough. You find better stuff at Roadside stalls Baingan Bharta - Good and spicy Sev Tamatar Sabji - Not fresh, too spicy Roti
The service, despite being a small place, was very slow. The waiters were rude and untrained. They operated like a traditional udipi restaraunt in Mumbai but without the requisite taste or service.
Overall we regretted the decision of choosing this particular outlet. The first two outlets seem to be better...

Their food is rich (on taste as well as calories) but almost finger-licking good and almost all dishes are made well, especially sev tomato, alu methi, palak masala and all paneer dishes. The thali is one of their highlights, being available in the Jain version, as are most of their other dishes. Of course, the meal at G Bhagat Tarachand is incomplete without having their signature lassi and/or chaas - both are equally good. Frequented by local traders and office goers, as also the devotees visiting the close by...
