Located in Tunga International Hotel in Mahakali, Something’s Fishy as the name suggests is a paradise for seafood lovers! Most of their seafood has a good influence of North-Indian as well as South-Indian masalas, giving you the best of both worlds! However, vegetarians – fret not, as they have a decent number of options in veg for you to enjoy a sumptuous meal!
At Something’s Fishy, you can opt for a buffet or a-la-carte. Having visited on a Sunday afternoon for lunch, both the buffet and the a-la-carte areas were jam-packed to capacity. We decided to go in for the a-la-carte menu.
As you enter the restaurant, they have a huge fish tank with beautiful fishes swimming around. They interiors are modern, cozy and chic. The walls and ceiling is done up in hues of beige and light gold, while the furniture adds a pop of colour to the ambience. They also have a well-stocked bar and beautiful chandeliers handing from the ceiling at various spots. The overall ambience is warm, inviting and just perfect.
The staff, to name a few, Mr. Harish Shetty, Mr. Krishna and Mr. Naresh were extremely hospitable, friendly, helpful and courteous. They helped us with some great seafood suggestions, explained to us about each dish that arrived on the table, ensured that our meal was going great and changed our plates after every dish. We were surely treated like royalty. Kudos to the team for the great service!
We started off our meal with a Red Wine Sangria and Prosieks which paired well with the appetizers. Here’s a gist of our satisfying, wholesome seafood meal.
Paya Soup & Curried Seafood Broth– The paya soup is a rich, creamy delicacy made with lamb trotters which are simmered overnight to extract maximum flavor and achieve tenderness. The soup was topped off with fried onions. The curried seafood broth is a creamy, smooth seafood broth finished off with a coconut milk. It had minced prawns, clams and pomfret pieces. LOVED both the soups. Highly recommended.
Crab Sweet Chilli Basil – A Chinese dish with minced crab meat sautéed in a sweet chilly basil sauce. Yum! Highly recommended.
Lobster Tellicherry – A South-Indian delicacy made with tender lobster pieces marinated in a coconut based gravy with fried curry leaves, garlic and tempered mustard seeds. Highly recommended.
Bhatti Ka Pomfret Tikka – Warm, melt in the mouth pomfret tikka cooked in a tandoor. Highly recommended.
Tiger Prawns Malwani Sukke – Huge tiger prawns marinated in a spicy Malwani masala. Surely a must try for those who love spicy food. Highly recommended.
Karaikhodi Fish – Inspired by spices from Tamil Nadu, this appetizer was pomfret fish stuffed with minced prawns. Surely a seafood lovers delight! Wow. Highly recommended.
Surmai Alleppey Curry with Appams – Hands down, this was one of the BEST fish curries I’ve ever tasted so far. Surmai fish cooked with raw mango, ginger, curry leaves and coconut milk. This would be a CRIME TO MISS. Highly recommended.
To end our meal on a sweet note, we indulged in Gajar Halwa, Rabri and Sizzling Brownie, all of which were rich, heavenly and sinful.
On the whole, we absolutely enjoyed our Sunday lunch here at Something’s Fishy. The service was quick, food was delicious, staff were polite and courteous and their food is surely value for money. If this place isn’t on your bucket list as yet, then you’re surely missing out on something fabulous! Surely...
Read moreVisited Something's Fishy for a Seafood Experience. I'm not fond of seafood but trust me, this place changed my thoughts about seafood and the variety of preparations!
This family resto bar is huge, they also have a private space that can be occupied on reservations. A beautiful fishtank sits on the left of the entrance and there's a full fledged bar serving fantastic cocktails.
Though this place is famous for sea delicacies, they also serve great dishes in chicken & mutton. Not only that, even the veg items are worth a try I've heard.
A set of well bred staff are around the place to help you with food recommendations, the manager also is extremely accommodating and kind.
After being comfortably tucked into our chairs, we went ahead and ordered the first dish that caught my eyes- Crispy Prawns Chilly Butter Garlic (Chinese): this was a great choice, it boosted my appetite. The prawns were tender and fresh. Also the quantity was astounding! The flavour of the chilly and garlic had my heart!
Next, we ordered Stuffed Bombil (Malvani): 4 Bombay Ducks stuffed with a filling made from prawn chilly coated in gram flour and deep fried. Loved this combination of Bombay Ducks and Prawns. The only drawback, there are alot of soft thorns (edible) in the bombil which kind off kills the enjoyment.
We then ordered Basa Fish Fingers (Continental): The Basa Fingers were served with a Mayo dip and salad dressing. On it's own, the fish fingers were bland but along with the dip, it tastes great!
In mocktails, we ordered a Mint Cooler: This is a perfect summer drink! Fresh, chilled and refreshing. Highly recommended.
Passion Champagne: Passion, Pineapple, Cranberry and lime put together to make this mellow drink. It's a little too sweet but I totally devoured it.
Sea food with the famous SOL KADI is incomplete! Hence, I had to order a glass of it. The flavor was AMAZING. i loved the way the kokum blended so well with the spices. Please do ask for a glass when you visit, it's worth it!
Moving on to Cocktails, we ordered a Bellini: Champagne infused with the goodness of Peach and Cherry. A smooth elegant drink, with a lovely flavor of peach
Hurricane: Roundel rum, brandy, Grenadine, Orange, Pineapple, Lime blended to become this fancy mix. This one isn't strong and goes well with food.
In Main course, we ordered a portion of Gosht Dum Biryani: Piping hot Authentic Mutton Biryani topped with caramelized onions and served with pickle, raita, lemon and onions. Again, a very pleasing dish! Sufficient for 3 people.
After all the food, dessert was a necessity! We called for a portion of Caramel Custard. This definitely had to be one of the best custards I had! The caramel was perfect and the texture and consistency of the custard was upto the mark! A fantastic end to our sumptuous meal :)
Captin Sunil & Bhaskar along with Steward Satish & Ramesh made us feel at home. Their hospitality and service was commendable. Definately making another visit to this restaurant real soon!

Read moreSomething's Fishy was on my wishlist since a long time. One day, I made an impromptu plan and decided to take my best friend for a meal here.
Something's Fishy is located inside the Tunga Hotel. On the 1st floor they have the a la carte and on the 2nd floor, they have the buffet. We chose the a la carte dining.
It's the perfect ambiance for a dinner date, fine dine with cocktails and food.
On entering you see a beautiful Aquarium with a variety of cute fish. Their seating is very nicely arranged which makes it the perfect romantic ambiance.
They are known for their innovative cocktails and we had a few to start our meal.
Pina Colada - The Classic Pina Colada, I asked to be made strong and they made it very well. Loved it.
Bellini - A champagne based cocktail with peach flavor and a cherry. It's the tipsiest bellini I have had.
Mimosa - One more champagne based cocktail with orange juice and triple sec. The best for those who love orange juice and need a kick.
I am very selective for seafood and on our visit, we had a mixture of seafood and chicken dishes.
Bombil Fry :
Bombil is one of the type of fish I eat and Bombil Fry is my favorite. They have 4 pieces of decent sized bombil in one portion. The fish is fried to crispness, tasted really fresh and just just delicious. I just wanted to keep eating it.
Alishan Kebab :
Chicken Kebab marinated in red tandoor spices, stuffed with cheese amd chicken keema. The marination was done very well, the kebabs were cooked in tandoor. Chicken was cooked perfectly, not at all chewy. It was a tad bit spicy. If you are a kebab fan, do try this.
Kombdi Tambda Rassa :
Tambda Rassa is the specialty of Kolhapur and I always try this rassa wherever it's available. It had chicken pieces in it along with thin rassa. The rassa was not at all spicy for my taste, on asking they said its the spiciest here. But maybe I eat more spicy that's why I didn't find it much hot. We ate it with neer dosa which was made fresh and very soft.
Masala Rice :
They didn't have this on the menu. As this is a malvani special dish, we asked if they have it, they said they can make it for us. A different version of the vegetable pulao, it had malvani masala in it. Not too spicy, very light on the stomach. I loved it.
They don't have desserts in the menu of a la carte but they give us options from the menu of the buffet.
They had a variety of western and Indian desserts but we chose indian only.
Rasmalai : Very very soft rasmalai, melt in the mouth. The milk was not too sweet, and it didn't feel heavy too.
Jalebi Rabdi : Classic combination of jalebi and rabdi. Freshly fried in desi ghee, crispy jalebi with hot rabdi. Just delicious.
I reccomend both the desserts.
The restaurant overall has a very positive vibe amd you feel like sitting here for hours. The staff is very very attentive, hospitality is par excellence. Special mention to Mr. Ahmed, Mr. Prashant and Mr. Krishna for making our visit memorable.
I would definitely keep coming here, specially for...
