Situated not far from Hinduja hospital in Mahim, Status has been around for a long time. Yesterday as we were looking for a place not too far to lunch at, we called up Status to ask for a table, and got it right away. Upon our arrival, we were ushered in to what was an airy and roomy space, with large glass doors and windows it was quite bright, overall creating a feel of a spacious eatery. The chairs were comfy and the table was big enough, no cramping of any kind. We were presented with the menu, a diary almost, with an index page, making it very easy to directly jump to the various submenus such as veg starters, Chinese mains, cocktails and so on. I began our meal with the Electric Iced Tea, a variant of the classic Long Island Iced Tea, with the addition of blue curacao and cointreau. Unlike most other places, the glass here was not half filled with ice, only at the top, and that ensured the alcohol wasn't diluted, I highly recommend this one for those who like their drinks strong. Our first starter was Murg Noorani Seekh Kebab. Boneless tandoor chicken stuffed with cheese, it was a tad dry, even for a kebab, but very tasty. My second drink was the Coconut Groove, a rum based concoction, with my favourite Malibu being mixed with coconut water, and it was quite good, just that the quantity was disappointing. Up next was Murg Banjara Kebab, barbequed chicken cubes, flavoured with spices and herbs, I like this even more than the previous kebab. Very tender, though again on the drier side, it was particularly good. Both starters had 8 pieces, as opposed to the usual 6, and the pieces quite big, so the two of us were already feeling a little full. So for the mains we stuck to just one dish, Murg Amritsari with Butter Garlic Naan to go with it. A combination of minced chicken and chicken tikka in a not too spicy gravy, I would rate it above average, but along with that naan, it was more than satisfying the taste buds, as the naan had an excellent garlic flavour to it. By now we were completely stuffed, had no room for dessert at all, and called it a day. To sum up then, Status gets most things right, ambience, service, taste, quantity, there's no major complaint. A bit on the pricier side in my opinion, but that's not to say you will get little value for money. It's definitely worth a visit, especially in a group, so you can finish the large quantities and explore more of the menu, I know I'll be doing that in the...
Read moreVery bad experience of service while ordering. So today I have left your hotel without eating because this happened to me two or three times, if you order any food, the staff suggested that it will take 50 to 55 minutes, that is, due to the Sunday rush, they indirectly refused to take the order, if we want to have our favorite food happily with our family on Sunday, we pay for it as you say, then surely we will be ready to wait for 50 minutes or two hours with our family members, then why do you include the food that takes time to prepare in your menu card, do you not include those dishes in that menu card or do you ask the manager to suggest to the customer that we want to vacate the table quickly, then you should take the food that our staff suggests, so that our staff will not have tension in their heads to take new customers. I hope that in the future, no one will suggest such kind of...
