Goa Portuguesa in Mahim located near Hinduja Hospital is now 30 years young restaurant. They believe in authenticity and try to bring out the best authentic food and ambience from Goa. The ambience was lovely more like a Happy and Positive ambience. The staff was quick and polite and very knowledgeable. Coming to the food, food here literally reminded me of Goa and and I think even Goa did not have such delicious food. . What we had:
Beverages:
The Royal Cream: Milk Based Cocktail with a punch of Chocolate and love known as White Rum. This was my favourite and should definitely try!
Alphonso Delight: Okay, let me put it this way, it was like you're literally drinking Mango instead of eating. Same typical taste with the thickness. A mocktail you might not get everywhere.
Starters:
Prawns Rissois: It is a Portuguese delicacy of Prawns. The Prawns is cooked in the Cheese based sauce which is then stuffed and then fried. This was the best one! The best of the best and I am in love with it.
Chicken Cafreal: Chicken and Potato chunks in an authentic Green Goan gravy giving an amazing taste and a blast of flavours giving your tastebuds a ride.
Main Course:
Tender Coconut Cashew nut Sukke: This one is Chef's Special here. And they have a Money Back Guarantee on this one and I am pretty sure you won't ask for it! Being a Non Vegetarian, I loved this dish and it's presentation. Julienns of Coconut and Cashew nuts sauted with some veggies and Goan Spices.
Chicken Vindalho: This is a traditional Goan Delicacy and trust me when I say that. I haven't had found anything close to Goan Delicacy in Mumbai. Goa Portuguesa most certainly changed my mind. The taste was tangy die to the mixture of Vinegar and Spicy because of the Goan gravy Vindalho. I needed water after every bite. And trust me, they have won Awards for their Vindalho. And I personally loved it too.
Desert:
Bebinca: Bebinca is THE Goan dessert and is a MUST HAVE! Itâs a layered cake/pudding hybrid made from coconut milk, eggs, sugar and ghee. It takes hours to prepare and requires patience and dedication. Bebinca here does not disappoint and really lives up to its reputation. The Bebinca has neat uniform layers and you can taste the ghee in every bite. . I would most certainly recommend this place as this was one of the best places I've visited till date and was very appealing and not very costly too! And if you visit on certain nights like Wednesday or Friday night for dinner, you find a musician who will serenade you on your table. Which adds to the feels of Goa! Their staff is polite, knowledgeable, welcoming and the service is quite fast. Overall one of the best experiences of Goa in Mumbai when it comes to food.

What helps always is good food & blessed I am to be residing at a place where I have to just walk down the street & there are a plethora of restaurants serving different cuisines to choose from.
With more proximity to home this time we narrowed down to #GoaPortuguesa - a classic place in Mahim which needs no introduction!
Although It was my maiden visit, my family members have been regular patrons here. Since this place specialises in Goan delicacies we chose our meal from that section itself
Rose Wine Sangria - just perfect & refreshing for the lazy lunch Bombay duck fry - it was deep fried bombil (initially we were skeptical) , but it was yummm. Fresh bombay duck slathered in a thin coating of flour & deep fried ( was done well & not too oily) - a fab starter to go with any of the drinks *Chicken Roulade - oh, this one has my heart, I loved it to the core & will surely be visiting again to savour this. Fresh chicken breast stuffed with a mixture of spinach, mushroom, cheese & seasoning, then this is rolled in an elongated ball & cooked in a lip smacking creamy flavourful white sauce. I ended up having all the sauce from the serving plate as well đ. #MyPersonalRecommendation Chicken Xacuti - an authentic goan delicacy with distinct flavours of khada masalas & coconut was a treat to savour with Vade's & soft appams. The gravy was apt & with no overpowering flavours. Goan Prawn Curry - I did not taste this one, as I do not eat prawns ( sadly yes!! ) , but those who ate it, loved it.
The ambience & set up is cozy. Tastefully done interiors which gives a good vibe & feel when we relish the food. Nice goan music in low volume is played in the background & on Sundays one would witness a live performance by a guitarist too.
Soft spoken, attentive & knowledgeable servers & bar tender.
Personal attention by the owners is commendable. One of our family members had asked for Tomato Saar which was a lil more spicy than his spice tolerance. Mr sudip noticed that we were bringing this issue to the notice of one of his servers, Mr sudip came up & mentioned that the entire soup can be changed to a different one to adjust to the spice level. * Thank You * đ .
Prices are a little steep however the quality of food & service makes up for it & why worry when we have our own #HaqKa #SeabuzzDiscount !
Yes, I availed my #SeabuzzDiscount here & enjoyed a hearty...

In this restaurant you will get veg as well as non veg food along with drinks. Starting with veg starters, mix veg cashew croquette is crunchy and filled with cashews, they give six in pieces. Another veg starter paneer rissois is highly recommended dish as the dish is filled with soft paneer and it will make you feel like itâs cheese. It is very good in taste. In non-veg starters, if you want to order some fish then rawas mandovi is very good and is recommended. Big pieces boneless fish will be served. Next non veg starters is Prawns risoise is very much recommended as it comes with good prawns filling and very good in taste. For mocktails, melon cooler is recommended as it also have pieces of melons in the drink along with the juice. Another mocktail can be virgin Mojito. For veg main course tender coconutcash sukke is very much recommended as this comes in actual tender coconut shell and the malai part of the coconut is made into pieces along with beans and peanuts. This is the first time I have had the tender coconut sukke and it cannot be found anywhere else as itâs their signature dish. As it is dry and does not have gravy it can be had with amboli which is a type of bread. For non veg main course Mutton Vindalho is recommended as it comes in good gravy, there are good amount of pieces of mutton all boneless. It can be eaten with the red rice also known as Goan rice. Since it is a gravy dish it can also be had with pav. In desserts, dodol was ordered and it comes with lots of kajus inside the sweet topped with another kaju. Itâs an Goan dessert. It is made of coconut and jaggery. The service is amazing and the staff knows their dishes very well. My overall experience for Goa Portuguesa was very good and I highly recommend this restaurant for all non veg lovers as well as veg lovers and those who want to try authentic Goan food.
