Diva Maharashtracha.. a restaurant that truly lives up to its name. Enter this place and you'll actually get a feeling of being in Maharashtra, probably for the very first time. Why? Because Maharashtra is a name restricted to our state only. With diversity in culture, languages, cuisines and cosmopolitan crowd settling in, marathi culture & cuisine are on the verge of losing its sheen. It is difficult and almost impossible to find a restaurant serving typical marathi dishes. It has now become a thing of the past. In the very state of Maharashtra, marathi culture as well as food, now seem to have taken a backseat in our lives. We prefer burger over vadapav, Momos over modak, Belgian chocolate over basundi, Crunchy tacos over karanjis, Fancy parathas over puranpoli, Pizza, fries to munch on, over homemade chakli, chivda and poha.

However, in an era where food culture has undergone a drastic change, here comes Mr. Suhas and Mrs Deepali Awchat's DIVA MAHARASHTRACHA. Here each and every thing has a MARATHI TOUCH to it.. A bright coloured paithani hanging parallel with the wall, photos of some eminent maharashtrians, right from politicians and freedom fighters to actors and singers, who have made a mark in their chosen field, are displayed all over.. Every maharashtrian's chest is sure to swell with pride !!

Diva means light and their restaurant indeed represents a light that is needed to open our eyes and wake us up from the deep slumber of darkness. This diva will ward off the darkness and act as an eye-opener to cherish and nurture the soon-to-be-lost marathi cuisine culture. Mr. Suhas Awchat is truly a multi-talented man. He is an MD from London who has donned the hat of a restaurateur for over 30 years now and also works as a Deputy CM. A man with many hats, hats off to him! There's a woman behind every man's success and Mrs Deepa Awchat, a DIVA herself, is an epitome of this. She worked as Senior Customs officer, conducted various cookery shows with Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, received an award for excellence in culinary from the late Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh, won gold medal in table tennis etc. Both have been successfully running their hotel business since times immemorial. Not just Diva Maharashtracha, they also have Dakshin curry and Goa Portuguesa to their credit. Their elder son has joined hands with them to take the legacy forward. A few buildings away, he runs beer cafe. It's all in the genes, I must say!

Here's a list of the menu items we ordered-

*Mocktails-

Mango fruit punch.

*Cocktail-

Platinum whisky sour

*Starters-

Chicken kolhapuri sukke- Moderate spicy. Cooked in kolhapuri masala. It comes with thick gravy.

Kolimbichi bhaji- dumpling of prawns cooked in cheese base sauce. 3 pieces served with salad.

*Main course-

Chicken shagotti- Cooked in brown gravy of onions, coconut paste and garam masala powder. Highly recommended for all the chicken lovers out there!

Nagpuri saoji mutton- This is something different. A delicacy of the saoji community from Nagpur, this one's a must try. Cooked with onion and saoji garam masala.

*Dessert- You can either have dudhi halwa or puranpoli. Tummy being full, we ordered only one dish- dudhi halwa. It was the bestest I've ever had.

The restaurant also has a valet service. The staff was very courteous and prompt. Mr. Samir played the perfect host. Absolutely no room for complaints. I highly recommend this place to all those looking out for an authentic maharashtrian meal. You now know where to head! This place will never...

If you are a true maharashtrian food fan other than the mumbai's local vada pav then you must visit Diva maharashtracha Mumbai first only and only maharashtrian food specialist Restaurant located at Mahim close to hinduja hospital.

Was very excited to visit this place and had heard a lot about this place as this place is divided in 3 restaurants namely Goa Portuguese, Dakshin curry culture ,and Diva maharashtracha. fully owned by Dr Suhas Awchat (FMR SEM SP, Police Office /DR by profession) and his wife Deepa Awchat (Renowed Master Chef & Author who have won many prestigious Awards) Once you visit this restaurant do read their testimonials where numerous celebrities/ politicians/ news articles) have been written about their overall hospitality. it's not Dr Subhash who visit to them(celebrities/ politicians/ news articles) he have been to our table also explain how this restaurant history came into effect. not coming to the food we started with the draught beer and along with that we order

Kaju Kothimbir Vadi (made of Gram flour, coriander leaves and cashews ) signature dish of MRS Deepa Awchat

Mini Thali Peeth never thought thalipeeth can be in such wonderful presentation (mini pancakes of five flavours mixed with spice, tawa fried & garnished with garlic red and green chutney and tip of tomato sauce) 100% recommended

Aluchi Vadi in Gujarati we call it as Patra which is only steam and sauted with oil but here leaves stuff with batter of chana dal (Bengal gram) flour, coconut and spices are steamed and then deep fried making it a crispy bite

IN Mains Kala watanachi amti black gram (black small chana) cooked in coconut, tamarind and jaggery base gravy flavoured with garam masala (spices) giving a perfect sweet and tangy taste

Vaalache Bhirde I am not to find out wall white pulses but when we ordered the flavour of onion coconut and garlic made me think to taste it after tasting I enjoyed a lot Along with this vegetables we ordered all the three varieties of breads rice bhakri (made up of flour rice) jowar bhakri ( made of jowar) and amboli known as maratha Ghavane (just taste like a uttapam)

Desserts

Puran Poli traditional sweet of maharashtrian (pancake of cooked Bengal gram with jaggery or sugar flavoured with cardamom and elaichi) and served with ghee Kharvas Another traditional sweet of maharashtrians just we can say as pudding made from cow or buffalo milk Everything we tried was Joy dropping to say the least as they use in house freshlyground spices under supervision of Mrs Deepa which enhances & elevates the overall test and make the dish aromatic The service is quick and the staff takes exceptional care of the guest we are glad when we get to know that a certain percentage of the profit earned is reserved for charity which is a applaudable we soon gonna to will visit the other two restaurants which is the Goa Portuguese and the Dakshin curry culture Thank you personally to Mr suhas who gifted a small siddhivinayak carved in betel nut as he came to know no about my next day anniversary Thank you Diva Maharastracha for...

'Diva Maharashtracha' is an absolute delight for every aesthete with a discerning taste palate. The ambience is characterized by a meld of traditional and voguish décor with the atmosphere having an aura of chic yet relaxing vibe. The menu features oodles of Maharashtrian delicacies. So whether you're looking to give your taste buds a spark of fiery maratha spices or looking for a milder dining affair, you will relish the dining experience and it's memories that follow.

The customer service is unblemished, absolutely impeccable with the order time being 10 to 15 minutes per dish. The crew led by Mr. Subhash C Sharma, collude together to make the customer feel at home with their geniality and hospitality, as they take them to a dining maneuver of complete gastronomic pleasure. Our table was hosted by Mr. Subhash himself and Mr. Kashi Mukhiya, who certainly made our dining experience enthralling.

Appetizers & Main Course From the wide spread of dishes that the menu features, we ordered "Kolambichi Karanji" and "Chicken Malvani Sukke" for appetizers and "Jungli Chicken" and "Chicken Shagotti" with chapatis and ambolis for main course.

"Kolambichi Karanjee" : With a generous portion size, these are karanjis or gujiyas (deep fried dumplings) stuffed with an exquisite filling of prawns cooked in a cheese based sauce. It is very appetizing and loaded with a spectrum of flavours. "Chicken Malvani Sukke" : Being a Malvani delish, this elegant dish is very flavorous. The chicken glazed with a malvani based masala is delectable and very pleasing to the taste buds.

"Jungli Chicken" : A dish with a mouth-watering gravy rich in flavour, aroma and consistency, it goes well with literally every thing from the 'Breads' subsection, we had it with chapati and amboli. The chicken pieces submerged, were so tender and tasty. It's a konkan speciality that you will savour! "Chicken Shagotti" : This is another chicken dish with a delectable gravy that goes well with chapati, amboli or steamed rice. It has a very satisfying flavour.

Drinks - "Platinum Whiskey Sour" and "The Royal cream" The former, is a variation of the classic whiskey sour with a twist of spices that bring in a dimension of flavours to cherish, amazing stuff. The latter, has a semi thickish consistency and a good aftertaste.

They serve a variety of sweet dishes ranging from the goodness of "Kharwas" to dishes like "Bibinca" and "Payassan" expanding their gastronomic-territory of speciality to Goa and southern states. We ordered "Doodhi Halwa" which had a mind blowing taste and a burst of flavours. The dish prides itself with diverse flavours, it has a rare sapor that makes it an absolute delight.

When you talk about authenticity and value for money, Diva Maharashtracha is one of the first-rate places in Mahim without any doubt, it's truly a...

If you are a true maharashtrian food fan other than the mumbai's local vada pav then you must visit Diva maharashtracha Mumbai first only and only maharashtrian food specialist Restaurant located at Mahim close to hinduja hospital. Was very excited to visit this place and had heard a lot about this place as this place is divided in 3 restaurants namely Goa Portuguese, Dakshin curry culture ,and Diva maharashtracha. fully owned by Dr Suhas Awchat (FMR SEM SP, Police Office /DR by profession) and his wife Deepa Awchat (Renowed Master Chef & Author who have won many prestigious Awards) Once you visit this restaurant do read their testimonials where numerous celebrities/ politicians/ news articles) have been written about their overall hospitality. it's not Dr Subhash who visit to them(celebrities/ politicians/ news articles) he have been to our table also explain how this restaurant history came into effect. not coming to the food we started with the draught beer and along with that we order Kaju Kothimbir Vadi (made of Gram flour, coriander leaves and cashews ) signature dish of MRS Deepa Awchat Mini Thali Peeth never thought thalipeeth can be in such wonderful presentation (mini pancakes of five flavours mixed with spice, tawa fried & garnished with garlic red and green chutney and tip of tomato sauce) 100% recommended Aluchi Vadi in Gujarati we call it as Patra which is only steam and sauted with oil but here leaves stuff with batter of chana dal (Bengal gram) flour, coconut and spices are steamed and then deep fried making it a crispy bite IN Mains Kala watanachi amti black gram (black small chana) cooked in coconut, tamarind and jaggery base gravy flavoured with garam masala (spices) giving a perfect sweet and tangy taste Vaalache Bhirde I am not to find out wall white pulses but when we ordered the flavour of onion coconut and garlic made me think to taste it after tasting I enjoyed a lot Along with this vegetables we ordered all the three varieties of breads rice bhakri (made up of flour rice) jowar bhakri ( made of jowar) and amboli known as maratha Ghavane (just taste like a uttapam) Desserts Puran Poli traditional sweet of maharashtrian (pancake of cooked Bengal gram with jaggery or sugar flavoured with cardamom and elaichi) and served with ghee Kharvas Another traditional sweet of maharashtrians just we can say as pudding made from cow or buffalo milk Everything we tried was Joy dropping to say the least as they use in house freshlyground spices under supervision of Mrs Deepa which enhances & elevates the overall test and make the dish aromatic The service is quick and the staff takes exceptional care of the guest we are glad when we get to know that a certain percentage of the profit earned is reserved for charity which is a applaudable we soon gonna to will visit the other two restaurants which is the Goa Portuguese and the Dakshin curry culture Thank you personally to Mr suhas who gifted a small siddhivinayak carved in betel nut as he came to know no about my next day anniversary Thank you Diva Maharastracha for wonderful evening

When you talk about authenticity and value for money, Diva Maharashtracha is one of the first-rate places in Mahim without any doubt, it's truly a gastronome's delight.
