The Runway Project by Pizza Express - New Opening at Phoenix Lowe Parel. Menu Curated by Chef Vicky Ratnani, done a great job. Salads/Bar Nibbles/Small Plates/Pizzas/Pastas/Sandwiches/Burgers and more. Personally feel a bit of Higher side (prices) after comparing it to Market Project (Kurla) Coming to the ambiance - top class. Bar fully stocked - amazing cocktails. Vibe - fantastic. Overall a great feel once you walk-in.
Tried some of the Cocktails and Food pre opening and here is my take -
Nibbles - House Marinated Olives (Loved it) Gerignola (Olive Cultivator) from Italy. Marinated well with Fried Garlic extra Virgin Oil. Goes well with the cocktails. Do try.
Stuffed Pepper - This was just amazing. Picante peppers stuffed with Cream cheese (oozing) and chives. Both the Nibbles are worth a try.
Salad - Size 0, Cream Cheese Nibbles and ask for the healthy salad. Great Combination. But this was balanced well. House Cured watermelon at the bottom, topped with Roasted Broccoli/Charred leeks/Goji Berries/Pumpkin seeds feta crumble. Sweet and a bit of tangy taste. Presented well, worth trying.
Mushroom Arancini - Simple let classy. This is all about Mushroom and mozzarella fritters fried till golden brown served with tomato Fondue (loved the Tangy Taste of the Tomato fondue) rusty texture - went well with the Arancini. Nice balance.
Limon cello Gamberi - Prawns it was. Lava stone grilled (fresh medium sized catch) Lemony. Garnish of Radish and micro green. Loved the Beurre Blanc (So French) Vinegar/Butter sauce with wine balanced the dish. Delicately presented.
Smile for the Camera - a must have if you like Egg Plant. Vegetarians would love this dish. It's all about Stuffing eggplant with fresh warm ricotta/Jalapeno, Olive powder and Medjool dates. Jalapeno is a wakeup call. Use of Tomato Fondue again was welcomed. Had a rusty look. Balance was good. Overall nice.
Chicken Parmigiano - somehow it was a miss. Could have been batter. Reason could be it was served cold. My Bad. This is breaded chicken fingers with basil pesto/Parmesan.
Margarita with Bufala (Pizza) The signature dish from Pizza Express. Here they serve different. It's hollow in the middle where they dress it with salad. Crust was Thin/Crispy. Fresh Tomato sauce with Buffalo Mozzarella and Olive oil.
Mushroom Risotto - a must try. Shitake mushroom and truffle oil. Great combination. Sharp and aromatic. Here the chef has made Shitake mushroom Ragu added oyster mushrooms sprinkled parmesan and truffle oil. Delight for the vegetarians if one loves mushrooms.
Dessert - Winter 17 (we enter 18 tomorrow) Its Dark chocolate mousse (nice) Berries, hazelnut Ganache. Simple yet good.
Coming to the cocktails -
POM POM - This is Brazilian with a twist of Cachaca and spiced Pumpkin with red chilli as a garnish. TWISTER - if one loves Campari this is the drink to have. It's Negroni with Arabica Beans and Tequila (could not get the tequila) but Coffee yes. Amazing. VELVET - must have. It's Bourbon all the way.
Overall - Loved the place. Still feel pricing will be the key. Its Bright and Welcoming feel with a Good...
Read moreWe all look for recommendations where the customer is treated like a royal , where the service is prompt , convenient location , where the food is simply fantastic & you dont mind paying that extra buck because you get value for money , that place which is comforting where you can sit undisturbed for hours with your loved ones .
Not just this , there are minute aspects like serene spacious ambiance , sufficient portion size , plush seating , vast variety to choose from , private area & yes the most important - something different !
This package is not easy to find but what if I tel you I recently visited a restaurant in the heart of Mumbai which ticked all these requirements .
The entry is designed like the ballroom of a castle . Dripping with all things that define luxury in bold capital with velvet couches , vintage porcelain artifacts , chandeliers , dull gold photo frames , floor carpets & wall tapestries .With the current self addict generation , the entry itself which is nothing less than a museum is definitely a selfie spot & a photobooth of sorts where you would like to enter the restaurant only after clicking a few photos here .
A vast bar greets you right at the entry . The high ceilings give the place a majestic feel with bold abstract art wall murals . The entire feel of the property is ritzy , swanky , classy & splendid .
I tried the following items . Amore , Boutique , Mocha , Wardrobe Malfunction , Size O , Tom Baker , Cigar Club , Mille Jardin , Bocconcini di pollo , Imitation , Make over , Fungi , Coco Chanel & Lemon curd Tart .
I have to comment that each & every item served on our table resembled a masterpiece made of edible items which could actually be auctioned off ! I dint have the heart to cut them wit my knife & bite into . My camera refused to take a breather as I wanted to click the jaw dropping plated dishes in every angle possible . Yes this restaurant is a pleaser not only to the pallette but to all the senses . Highly recommended for a romantic date , a propose Italian fine dine place specially when you want to impress your guests with top notch hospitality . Full marks to the Fresh ingredients which added a burst of myriad colours to the dainty bone china crockery . Perfection in every respect is served with elan at The Runaway Project .
The service is prompt with a special mention - Server Sonali took par excellence care of us .
Definitely coming back for sure to celebrate my...
Read moreThe Bandra Project by Pizza Express is simply a heaven for all Pizza Lovers. The prices of the dishes absolutely justifies the quantity as well as the quality. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The ambience of the place was soothing and comfortable.
Starting with beverages, I ordered a Super Sun Moctail and Me & Oreo Milkshake. The super sun mocktail was merrily a fusion between pineapple and watermelon poured over honey with a hint of mint. It was delicious and the juiciness of the pineapple and watermelon could be felt in every sip. The flavour of mint added for a little delightful surprise. Me & Oreo, was all about oreo. In simple words, it was the best thing an oreo lover would ever come across. It was not too sweet and the relish of oreo was divine. I, to be honest, fell in love with it.
Coming to the pizzas, I tried the Coriander Pesto Chicken and the Pollo Forza. The pizzas looked absolutely stunning and tasted even better. Coriander Pesto Chicken was topped with creamy chicken tikka, onion, green chillies, olive oil and mozzarella that will give you an exquisite cheesy experience . The pesto sauce was fused with rich spices giving the pizza an Indian twist. It was finished with a drizzle of coriander pesto. Pollo Forza, on the other hand, was simply a classic. It was topped with succulent grilled chicken, mixed peppers, jalapeños, mozzarella, finished with emilgrana cheese, parsley and olive oil. The pizza had a spicy edge to it and was one of the finest pizza’s that I have ever had. The base’s of the pizza were thin and cripsy, just the way it is done in Rome.
To end on a sweet note, I had Shea’s Favourite Cheesecake and Snow Balls with Nutella. The vanilla cheesecake was baked to perfection and served with mascarpone on the side. It was flavoursome and highly alluring. Snow Balls with Nutella are mini dough balls coated in sugar served with a nutella dip. The balls were soft and rich and the nutella dip contrasted beautifully. It is a must try for all nutella lovers. It was just the perfect end to a satisfying and filling beginning.
Overall, my experience was highly pleasurable and worthwhile. This is also a re-edit to my previous review and a lesson that we should not judge anything at the first instance. The place corresponds to the saying, “good food is good mood” amazingly. Food-5/5 Service-5/5 Ambience-5/5 Will I visit...
