My First Visit to CAARA at OGAAN: A Culinary Adventure in Delhi's Malcha Marg
As a seasoned food writer and influencer, the prospect of visiting CAARA at OGAAN, nestled in the heart of Malcha Marg, Delhi, had me buzzing with excitement. Founded by the dynamic duo, Ambika Seth and Alice Helme, CAARA is renowned for its classic European fare crafted with love and attention to detail.
Walking into the modern and intimate space of CAARA at OGAAN, I was immediately struck by the inviting ambiance and the aroma of freshly prepared dishes wafting through the air. The menu, boasting a selection of simple yet tantalizing European delicacies, promised a culinary journey like no other.
Eager to dive into the offerings, I wasted no time in exploring the menu. From classic egg brunch plates to healthier breakfast options, and from delectable pasta dishes to mouthwatering desserts, CAARA had something to tantalize every palate.
I kicked off my culinary adventure with small plates, opting for the brandy bisque grilled prawns and rye sourdough. The combination of flavors, including roasted garlic, red chili pepper, and lime, left me craving for more.
Next up was the artisanal Burrata salad, a delightful blend of flavors featuring marinated tomato carpaccio, basil pesto, and rocket leaves, accompanied by a side of sourdough baguette.
Moving on to the mains, the Classic Pepperoni pizza stole the show with its perfectly crisp Napoletana dough and flavorful toppings. The Chorizo, Prawns, and Curly Parsley Spaghetti was another highlight, boasting a symphony of spices and fresh ingredients.
For the main course, I indulged in the Grilled Cream Dory Fish with Vanilla Beurre Blanc, a dish that epitomized culinary perfection. The delicate flavors of the fish, coupled with the rich vanilla butter sauce, were a match made in gastronomic heaven.
No meal would be complete without a sweet ending, and CAARA did not disappoint. The Hazelnut, Chocolate, and Salted Caramel Tart was a divine finale to my culinary extravaganza, leaving me in a state of blissful contentment.
To wash it all down, I sampled the refreshing Berry Kombucha, a delightful blend of gooseberry, mulberry, and strawberry, which provided the perfect balance to the rich flavors of meal.
In addition to the impeccable food, what truly stood out was CAARA's commitment to sourcing quality produce and supporting local artisans. Their dedication to creating memorable dining experiences shone through in every dish, leaving a lasting impression on me.
As I bid farewell to CAARA at OGAAN, I couldn't help but reflect on the culinary journey I had just experienced. From the first bite to the last, it was a feast for the senses, and one that I would gladly embark on...
Read moreThe menu offers a good variety and selection. However, if you value your time and can’t stand people having little to no respect for it, avoid Caara at Ogaan completely. This was once a top-tier restaurant but the level of service (or lack thereof) has severely deteriorated. The past two consecutive occasions I was here, we had the slowest service. Half of the ordered items were cold as they had been sitting in the kitchen waiting for the rest to be prepared. Twice the crew said they were having kitchen issues but any professional establishment would know then to be upfront about this to customers to manage expectations or to just limit seating. Today was no exception. A commitment of what was a fifteen-minute wait has turned to just about an hour…for pasta. I could have stayed home and prepped the meal myself. I ended up not getting any food at all because the wait time is unreasonable and the service is...
Read moreFood was a really good quality, it really hit the spot. Service wasn't the best though, waiter misunderstood I was ordering drinks thought I wanted to think about what drink but didn't come to check on me for at least 15 minutes. It wasn't until I gestured to him that he came back and we were given our beverages. When we received the food we weren't checked on once to see how the food tasted or if we wanted anything else, I was disappointed with mt service. They give a survey card when done and I mentioned attentiveness to customers being an issue giving the same three stars. Afterwards he didn't give me the full amount of change even though there was already a tip calculated into my check. Its not about the money, its the fact he thought he deserved more after I expressed my dissatisfaction with...
