Horrible food and attitude at restaurant, fujiya, in malcha marg. Claims to be a japanese restaurant, very far from it. Ordered food for takeawy, prawn fried rice, and they put some plain rice in a plastic container and dunked some gravy over it, both items must have been pre-made in large batches. They claim it is schezwan rice, and insist i had ordered that. Ditto with the veg noodles i had ordered, they put some plain noodles in the container, dunked some gravy over it with almost raw veggies. Again they claim i had ordered pan fried noodles, and this is how it comes, i have simple tastes and dont even know these terms, again both ingredients were pre cooked and they simply dont want to take the trouble of cooking each item separately for each customer, just dunk stuff in to save time, they advised that we should mix the gravy with the noodles and eat, simple! They triple pack takeaways so tightly in sellotape there is no way my driver could open items and check what you are getting. It is all planned as they know customers in-house can complain if wrong item is served at the table but for takeaways, once it has reached the customer, not much we can do. They even refuse to acknowledge the mistake or apologise, and they think they can satisfy you by packing extra large portions, but if you are dunking a little gravy on top of plain rice or noodles, i guess you can afford to. For the prawn sweet and sour, there were no real prawns in it, there were a lot of veggies and a few dumplings which they claim were prawns, i thought they had sent a chicken dish, as it did not taste of prawn, these dumplings are often ordered from elsewhere or made cheaply in-house with a lot of flour and some waste bits of the prawn and pounded head and tails blitzed in a mixer. But they charge us a hefty price for it. Awful stuff, no taste, it's a shame, the retaurant was once so famous, the restaurant owner mr manpreet singh should take care, should visit the restaurant to see what is going on, he is treasurer of national restaurant association of india. Have heard the service is also terrible now. Reviews are very bad. We expect more from him and an institution...
Read moreWE DON'T CARE ABOUT OUR CUSTOMERS- A story about the devolution of Fujiya, Malcha Marg
Once upon a time, Fujiya used to be decent. But, that was once upon a time. Now, there's nothing left to cherish here. The staff, as far back as I can remember, was nonchalant since the beginning, but they at least pretended to care. Today, they have taken off that garb as well, and have become like your average 40+ underpaid (but comfortable) sarkari babus (not exaggerating, see for yourself). Recently, I went there with family (out of loyalty I suppose, since we have been visiting it for years) and ordered Wasabi Prawns for starters, which were raw. I told the waiter so, and he gave me a (mind you) condescending smile like I was oblivious to how prawns taste. He kept telling me that "prawns anadar se white hote hain" (which translates to- prawns are white from the inside), which was not my point of contesting and not why the wasabi prawns tasted raw. Nevertheless, after 5 minute of this, he came back to take my order. But, before I could order, this one tells me that he tasted the prawns himself and they weren't raw. I asked him if he speculated that I was lying or that I had never tasted prawns before, but he kept saying that they weren't raw. After a point it got pretty exhausting for me and I reflected, what the hell am I doing? So, I just asked him to just get the bill. We left.
I think people know how horrible this place is, but decide to come here out of loyalty, or because the location is great in Malcha Marg. Hopefully, they will realize this soon and not have to go through the trouble I...
Read moreI recently had a delightful Asian feast from Fujiya, ordering a variety of their vegetarian offerings. Here's a quick rundown:
Veg Wonton Soup: A comforting start, the soup had delicately wrapped wontons in a flavorful broth, though I found myself wishing for a touch more seasoning in the wontons themselves.
Veg Talumein Soup: Rich and hearty, this soup was packed with vegetables and noodles, making it quite satisfying. The broth was well-spiced, striking a nice balance of flavors.
Egg Fried Rice: This classic dish was executed beautifully with fluffy rice, vibrant veggies, and just the right amount of egg, providing a simple yet tasty complement to the more complex flavors of the other dishes.
Veg American Chopsuey: An intriguing fusion dish, it had crispy noodles topped with a sweet and tangy sauce. The vegetables were crunchy and fresh, though the sauce might be a bit sweet for some palates.
Vegetable Almonds: This dish was a standout, featuring a variety of fresh vegetables sautéed with crunchy almonds in a light, savory sauce. The almonds added a delightful crunch that contrasted well with the soft veggies.
Veg Pad Thai Noodles: The noodles were well-cooked, and the dish had a good balance of sweet, sour, and umami flavors, though it could have used a bit more heat to elevate it further.
Overall, dining from Fujiya was a pleasant experience, especially notable for their fresh ingredients and vibrant flavors. Each dish brought something unique to the table, making it a worthwhile option for vegetarians seeking variety and quality in...
