A Timeless Gem: Indian Coffee House in Puducherry Indian Coffee House in Puducherry is an exceptional restaurant that truly stands the test of time. As one of the city's oldest and most renowned establishments, it continues to impress diners with its delicious food and nostalgic ambiance. I recently had the pleasure of dining at this iconic eatery, and I can confidently say that it exceeded all my expectations. Upon entering Indian Coffee House, you are immediately transported to a bygone era, with its classic decor and vintage charm. The restaurant's rich history adds to the overall experience, creating a unique atmosphere that is both inviting and comforting. Now, let's talk about the food! The Pongal I had at Indian Coffee House was simply outstanding. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and each bite was a delightful combination of warmth and spice. Accompanied by the coconut chutney, the Pongal reached new heights of deliciousness. The creamy, coconutty chutney was the ideal complement, enhancing the flavors of the dish. Apart from the delectable Pongal, I highly recommend trying their coffee. It is a must-try for any visitor. The aroma and taste of the freshly brewed coffee are unparalleled, and it truly showcases the expertise and passion of the Indian Coffee House team. It's no wonder they have gained such a loyal following over the years. Another aspect that impressed me about Indian Coffee House is its affordability. Despite offering a remarkable culinary experience and maintaining a sterling reputation, the prices remain reasonable. This makes it an excellent value for money and an accessible option for all food enthusiasts. Finally, I wholeheartedly recommend Indian Coffee House to anyone visiting Puducherry. It is more than just a restaurant; it's a cultural landmark that embodies the essence of the city. Whether you are a local or a tourist, a visit to Indian Coffee House is a must. Immerse yourself in the history, savor the mouthwatering Pongal, and don't forget to indulge in their incredible coffee. Your taste buds will thank you! In conclusion, Indian Coffee House in Puducherry is a true gem that has stood the test of time. Its delicious food, warm ambiance, and rich history make it a must-visit restaurant in the city. So, go ahead and make your way to Indian Coffee House for an unforgettable culinary journey.

April 27 Sunday Salty ice cream! I had lived in Neyveli for 30 years and ICH's ice cream has been one of my favourites. So, when I ordered one, the waiter with a 'quirky sarcastic smile' asked WHAT flavor I needed. I thought ICH had only one flavor! Correct me if i am wrong!! Puzzled, I asked him to bring me the yellow-colored one and asked for its name. I had forgotten the flavor. He then went on and on about how many flavors they have and that there are many flavors and they just add the color and essence and what not!!! DO YOU SERVE ANY FLAVOR OTHER THAN PINEAPPLE!?? He could have just said it was pineapple and just brought it! I kept on interrupting him in his long * speech to just get me the ice cream I wanted! NO!!!! He never heard and so I waited patiently for him to complete his GRAND SPEECH! He bought the ice cream, and clearly the color was sooo bright. And so I enquired him. But cooly said it was the correct color! Look at my picture please! THE ICE CREAM WAS SALTY!!!! SALTY! And when I pointed this out, he simply said how on earth would an ice cream be salty. HE! oh! He never accepted this! And so I told him to try mine, and he said he shouldn't. So I told him to have a try from the kitchen! But that SIR told me that they test the batch and make the ice cream! So I just left it at it cause I dnt want to deal with him anymore! But when we had finished, he walked up to us and told that they had added more essence into to and so the color and saltiness! **** *** *****! 😊

Please do not visit this place. Staffs are rude and service is very poor. Me and my wife went at 11 am by seeing the reviews. The location is highly crowded and very hard to get any parking place. After reaching we were asked to sit at a corner. But till next 15 minutes, nobody cared to come for taking the order. All shows as if they are extremely busy. We called the staff 3 times requesting to take our order but they just responded that will come shortly. Eventually this so hyped and high ranked place was only serving Chapati, puri bhaji, dosas and uttapam. There was no idli or vada on the menu. Finally we had to leave the place with no food as nobody came for taking the order. This place is unnecessarily hyped and filled with false reviews. We then went to Surguru restaurants and had amazing experience with very good food with everything available as per menu.

During my recent visit to Puducherry, I stepped into the Indian Coffee House and was immediately enveloped by a nostalgic charm that spoke volumes of its storied past. The interior exudes a retro vibe with walls adorned by vintage memorabilia, faded photographs, and old newspaper clippings, creating an atmosphere that feels like a delightful time capsule. Despite its modest décor, the space is warm and inviting, with simple wooden furniture that adds to the authentic, no-frills ambiance. I ordered a cup of their strong, aromatic filter coffee, which was brewed to perfection, and paired it with a plate of classic snacks—crispy dosas and spicy samosas—that reflected the culinary heritage this establishment is known for. The flavors were robust and satisfying, a testament to the Coffee House’s reputation for offering hearty, affordable fare. What made the experience even more memorable was the genuine warmth of the staff; their friendly smiles and attentive service made me feel like a cherished guest, inviting me to slow down and savor the moment. Amid the gentle hum of quiet conversations among regulars and locals, I found a comfortable corner to simply sit back, sip my coffee, and let the serene vibe wash over me. In a city celebrated for its eclectic blend of French colonial elegance and modern sophistication, the Indian Coffee House stands out as a refreshing reminder of India’s enduring cultural traditions. It’s not just a place to grab a quick bite, but a cherished landmark where one can relive the simplicity and community spirit of yesteryears. For anyone in Puducherry looking to experience a unique slice of Indian heritage along with great coffee and food, the Indian Coffee House is an absolute must-visit...

There's always this one restaurant or cafe in every city that's been there for generations and it's supposed to be the most iconic spot in the city for the great food and affordable price. I love visiting such places and experience their food. Indian coffee house was supposed to be that place for Pondicherry but unfortunately everything about this place was mediocre at best.

The food wasn't bad but it wasn't any good either. Everything tasted bland and it seemed like they put in the least amount of effort to make it.

I was in Pondicherry for 5 days and I visited the Indian coffee house for both breakfast and lunch on two separate days and was disappointed both times. I'm going to be honest, during my 5 days stay in Pondicherry this place ranks at the last place out of all the restaurants and cafes I've visited when it comes to taste and service. The affordable price is the only good thing they have to offer

The waiters/servers seemed pretty rude as well. They all had this annoyed look on their face and a very unfriendly attitude, like they are doing us a favor. Even saw a waiter talking rudely to another customer just because they asked something about a particular dish. They know they've been there for years now and because of that its basically like a government job where they won't get fired or have any consequences.

Not sure if this place has always been this way or there's been this recent downwards shift in overall quality of this place. They seriously need to improve their services and their food.

If you want to you could visit this place once but i wouldn't really...
