Summary: Excellent food, not perfect but one of the better places I've been to. Impeccable service and atmosphere.

Went for a lunch here. The friend who accompanied me, a localite, has been a regular for years and spared no expense hyping it.

Located at a relatively quiet neighborhood, Barometer is a rather unassuming place from the facade. The moment you step in, you're greeted with a moderately sized place complete with tables for all shapes and sizes of groups. The interiors are dim yet well lit and appear elegant with the dark painted walls. I really prefer this to overly bright lights that burn a hole in your retina. Ceiling is huge and helps since the tables are not spaced quite apart. There was a Charlie Chaplin film playing on one of the walls with western classic rock music playing, good stuff.

The attendant knew my friend and was happy to recommend food and drinks based on my preference. We started with Honey Chili Lotus Stems, very distinctly and mildly spiced leaning more towards a sweet-tangy desi Chinese flavour and packed a nice crunch. I clearly don't remember the names of the cocktails, but the first one was a gin based one with pomegranate juice and loads of ice. Very refreshing. My friend had a gin + guava based cocktail, not as good as mine, but lip-smacking nonetheless.

Main course was railway mutton curry with a maida lachcha paratha. The curry was coconut based with succulent chunks of boneless mutton, perfectly cooked. I would have preferred the curry slightly milder and spicier, this was pretty much a Thai yellow curry with mutton in it. For the drinks I switched to an Old Fashioned while my friend had a Gimlet. The Old Fashioned used regular whiskey and not bourbon (I could be wrong but it was a bit on the sweeter side because of which I couldn't really taste the base). Gimlet was perfect.

The food was delicious and looking at the size of the menu, I'll definitely make repeat visits here.

The service was really good. Very attentive and proactive staff. The place was full and the food was delivered really fast. This place is also inexpensive and offers great VFM when compared to similar places in Mumbai and other cities.

Overall, I'm really happy with the experience. Would love to visit again and try a bunch of...

Over the course of an extensive four-year patronage at Barometer, I have consistently savored an impeccable culinary journey that transcends mere sustenance. The epicurean voyage through this establishment has been marked by an unwavering commitment to excellence in both gastronomic creations and service provision.

Barometer's prowess in curating a sublime dining experience is exemplified by the artistry infused into each dish. Noteworthy selections, such as the Burmese Lemon Coriander soup and the HMT prawns, stand as testament to the establishment's mastery in culinary finesse. The Guntur Kodi Vepudu, a tantalizing chicken dish, showcases a harmonious blend of spices that titillate the palate, while the Burnt Garlic Rice, Thai curry yellow and Kheema Pao unveil a symphony of flavors that linger in the memory.

Particular commendation is due to the meticulous preparation of the Zaitooni Paneer Tikka, Cottage Cheese Pad Kratiem, and Cheesa Wadas with Techa Mayo, despite a recent observation regarding the diminishing size of the wadas. Even in the realm of salads, the Sish Fattoush emerges as a verdant delight that complements the overall diversity of the menu.

Beyond the realm of exotic specialties, Barometer's execution of staple fare, such as roti and subji, alongside the unassuming yet sublime dal and jeera rice, attests to a commitment to consistent excellence. The establishment's ability to balance innovation with traditional flavors elevates it to a zenith of gastronomic distinction.

In conclusion, Barometer has indisputably established itself as a paramount epicurean destination, transcending the mundane to become a culinary sanctuary. Its unwavering pursuit of culinary excellence, coupled with a meticulous attention to detail, renders it an unequivocal choice for discerning patrons, transforming every visit into a celebration of the finest in dining...

Step into Barometer, a charming restaurant in Pune, where delicious food and delightful ambiance come together for an unforgettable dining experience. The restaurant instantly captivates with its creative décor, including artistic cutlery displays on the walls and nostalgic black-and-white Charlie Chaplin movies playing in the background. The elegantly designed bar at the center enhances the overall inviting vibe. The food at Barometer is undoubtedly impressive. The Lakhnawi Chicken Biryani, rich with aromatic spices, flavorful rice, and tender chicken, truly stands out. For vegetarians, the Zaitooni Paneer Tikka offers a delightful blend of soft paneer and herbs, making it a tasty appetizer. Service at Barometer is exceptional, with the attentive and courteous staff ensuring that guests feel valued. Small but thoughtful gestures, such as neatly arranging plates and placing coasters under drinks, highlight their attention to detail. It's also noticeable that the restaurant has improved its service speed, resulting in a smoother dining experience. Among beverages, the Virgin Sangria deserves special mention. Its refreshing mix of fruits perfectly complements the meal. While Barometer offers an overall remarkable experience, diners should be aware it's priced on the higher side. However, the cost is justified considering the top-notch service, generous portions, and excellent food quality. One minor area for improvement would be to introduce more variety and spice in their vegetarian curries, especially paneer dishes, to appeal to guests who prefer bolder, spicier flavors. In conclusion, Barometer is an excellent choice in Pune for those looking to enjoy great food in an inviting setting. Its tasteful ambiance, commendable service, and flavorful dishes combine to create an experience worth savoring.

Zama Khan’s Mandi and Dumpukht meal box. 📍Barometer, City Pride, Kothrud A winter special edition by Barometer Restaurant, bringing culinary specialist Zama Khan from Aurangabad to give Punekar a taste of rare/ age old recipes that one can relish. Zama Khan, with 30yrs experience, is passionate about making these specialities and brings his magic alive! So what is… #Mandi – A 1000yr old recipe originally from Yemen, somewhere down ages was introduced in the kitchens of the Royal families of India by their khansamas. In mandi, mutton raan is rubbed with exotic spices, marinated and slow cooked in a 6-8 feet underground pit cooking slowly in its own juices. I tasted it, meat easily comes off the bone, still pink, is evenly textured & dry. Meat has incredible taste of intense spices and so delicious. One can also try eating with – Barometer sent 2 mayonnaise dips (spicy Beetroot Garlic and Labneh )along with crunchy salad. One will get the Mediterranean taste. Since the meat was a lot, next day I made roti wraps with boneless meat, salad and dips. #Dumpukht_mutton_biryani. Dum means to breath and phukht means cook Age old Mughal traditional methods where rice, meat, dry fruits, saffron and other spices are sealed together in a vessel and slow cooked, no water is added. Zama Khan has added his own touch and this biryani was something I have never tasted before. Extremely aromatic flavourful, hints of pepper, cardamom, dry fruits and just Wow. Totally awesome Mango Rabadi and Khubani were desserts in this box, taste totally new to me. What I loved is that both dishes are culinary delights, not oily and healthy Mandi (roasted raan) is still on my mind. Those who love non veg swear that meat always tastes even better the next day. This is one experience, me as a foodie was overjoyed.

#ankzfoodreviews @BAROMETERPUNE, Kothrud Near City Pride (google for exact location) This review is for another favorite place of many including mine. I'm a big fan of their breakfast menu will be writing about it soon. It's very difficult to find a table here post 7.30 pm, so we decided to reach early and have a quick dinner last week. Though, their dinner menu starts from 7 onwards but Italian and a few things are available throughout the day! Glad I was craving for pasta that day and that ultimately saved my trip around the city 😁 I started with a fresh *Watermelon juice without ice & sugar. I totally enjoy freshly made juices and I enjoy each one from their menu. Best part is they actually make it in front of you without any adulteration 😉 I was determined to have a good cheese garlic bread and pasta over the dinner so next came the most cheesiest, yummiest & longest *Cheese Garlic Bread. Had such an amazing one after a very very long time. Loved the combination & balance of fresh & dried herbs over the bread. Yum yum yum! Then came the hero *Mixed Sauce Pasta. Trust me, we have visited so many Italian restaurants lately in the city, and yet none could make upto what I was craving for so badly. This pasta was creamy, not very tangy nor very sweet, it was perfect with balanced flavour, texture and toppings. Pasta was cooked well(may be a lil undercooked for some) but it was fine as the rich sauce covered it up. Looking forward for many such early dinners here 😊
