It was time for a pure authentic maharashtrian non-veg food and i was so excited to eat just by imagination . So I searched on zomato to try something new place this time , Although i had heard regarding this place earlier as it got TIMES FOOD AWARD . With much eagerness and excitement i reached at this place . As soon as i entered the staff showed me the way to restaurant . I thought it might be a big one as the name seems to be a ROYAL . But , there were only four tables . I sat at one of the corner table of the room . The chicken ‘aroma’ was around the room which was making me more excited .
I had a glimpse over a menu card and as decided i ordered for Egg Thali , the staff very kindly asked me for chapati or bhakari . And as it was egg thali i preffered for Chapati . Meanwhile i saw the shape of glasses that were pure maharashtrian type glasses which we get to see in rural area of maharashtra .
Spending some time they kept in front of me the delecious looking EGG THALI .
It had a Tambda Rassa on the middle of the plate with a reddish tarri on it A PANDHRA RASSA and a EggBhurji served in a little bowl . Egg bhurji qlong with this has balanced the thali so well it tasted like a heaven . Also there was DAHI KANDA which means curd mixed with ONION . It is also a unique way to serve . And I had a piece of chapati with the EGG CURRY .. beleive me It made the day !! The masala in the curry were so well mixed and the gravy jjat rook the thalicto an another level . I ate 2 chapatis back to back , they served hot chapatis . But , when i ordered the third chapati it was not part of thali it wad extra . That seemed to be quite sad part as considering the cost of thali the cost ia high so they should be atleast offering 3 chapatis . But never the part , i moved to the second section of my lunch that was my favourite rice dish . They asked me 2 options one was INDRAYANI RICE OR PULAO and i preffered pulao .
Pulao’s rice was of a high quality and very delicious .
I had just a feeling after eating it that .. “AGAR DUNIYA MAI NONVEG KHANE KI JANNAT KAHA HAI TO WO YAHA HAI ..YAHA HAI...”
I hope you guys have the same experience. . I would not prefer to give any points here but only one thing is that it is a bit costly , but worth having . Table are only 4 so incase of weekend there might be too rush , ambience is good and service is also very good .
GOOD FOOD is then a GOOD...
Read moreMaratha Samrat at Kothrud is the latest addition to the group. Our visit was to check the replication of authenticity of the Samrat group. It met all the quality parameters and exceeded on few points. Our introduction to the quality started with the maitre'd Mark and he leaves a mark on your evening. He is well versed with all the preparations and if you explain your preferences and the depth of your appetite, he will lead you correctly. Our appetite is small and within that he ensured we tasted maximum fare. It was mutton all the way with thick and fluid gravies a dark masala preparation, bhakari, a Maharastrian bajari bread and rice. Zest was added with pandhara (white) and tambada (keshari red) rassas (fundamentally a gravy, and soup is not the right word, but is used here to explain). I as a principle do not dwell on the ingredients and will follow it here. For the first time I was tasting the dark mutton outside my trusted joints. The chef had the right combination of the masala and it was perfect. The mutton was marinated right to the bone and cooking brought out the tenderness of the meat. Probably the zing in the pandhara rassa fell short by two grains, (is my taste on the spicy side?) otherwise the preparations were excellent. The amount of salt gives the final taste to the food and it was just right. In the quest to meet some customers requirements, some chef reduce the amount, which compromises the quality extensively. The customer is not eating outside food everyday, so let him enjoy the outing. The bhakari was smooth as silk, it is difficult to get this correct combination of soft and crunchy. The dark spot, the splintered pieces of bone in the preparation. If the butcher does not have sharp knife or proper cleaving techniques, it results in bone pieces in the meat. Something we desired ~ solkadi. It has tremendous digestive power and is good with...
Read moreMaratha Samrat Restaurant Kothrud. After an important work the ritual has been to have something which will take care of late lunch and possibly evenings. Lengthy discussion ensued , post which idea to visit fast food joint was vetoed by me and my poor young son followed my suit and entered Maratha Samrat. Previous visit we had tried out Mutton, Chicken and Veg Thali. Which was good. Little bit high on wallet but the food was delicious. So today we limited ourselves to Chicken Handi. Reasonably priced at 450/- rs. As Indian breads we chose chapatti and Jowar Bhakari. I was initially sceptical about Bhakari with Handi. But waiter who took order assured me it would do just fine. Thankfully there were no Tandoor Rotis which I simple love to devour. Handi arrived with couple of leg pieces and several chunks. Usually they serve 8. And the gravy looked medium spicy. And or was. The preparation was distinctly Marathi. I could see well ground Masalas and extremely well done chicken. After long time I had a chicken which after a bite felt like a chicken. Not some rubbery substitute bred on antibiotics . Nice plumpy leg but soft . The gravy wasn't very spicey. Neither or had excessive oil floating as a Tarrri. Looked more like Khada Masala in it. Curry was delicious. Bhakari was good sized . Sufficient for average eater. I need one and had it as one. I like to scoop curry with a spoon once in a while and standalone curry was extremely good. The nice umami flavour or chicken stock perfectly blended with the spices which didn't overshadow the original meaty taste. That's how curries should be. One of the best I had in recent times. My bettter half is the1 master in non veg curries and gravies. Apart from what she makes this one would probably rank in top 5. Good meal. And even better service. Quick courteous and professional. Mutton...
