4.5/5 Stars: A Hidden Gem for Indian Food Lovers at Sheetal Family Restaurant!
Sheetal Family Restaurant is an unassuming eatery that serves up some of the most authentic and delicious Indian cuisine in town. Our recent visit was a delightful discovery that left us eager to return and explore more of their extensive menu.
From the outside, Sheetal Family Restaurant may not look like much, but step inside and you'll be greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere that's perfect for families and casual dining. The decor is simple yet elegant, with traditional Indian touches that add to the restaurant's charm.
Our server, [server's name], was friendly and attentive, taking the time to explain the menu and offer recommendations. We began with the Samosas, crispy fried pastries filled with spiced potatoes and peas. These were perfectly cooked and served with a side of tangy chutney.
For our main course, we opted for the Chicken Tikka Masala, a rich and creamy tomato-based curry that's a staple of Indian cuisine. Sheetal Family Restaurant's version did not disappoint, with tender chicken cooked to perfection in a flavorful sauce. We also tried the Palak Paneer, a creamy spinach curry with Indian cheese that was equally delicious.
The Naan Bread and Basmati Rice were both freshly prepared and served hot, perfect for sopping up the flavorful sauces.
Throughout our meal, the service was top-notch, with our server checking in regularly to ensure everything was to our liking.
In short, Sheetal Family Restaurant is a hidden gem that's sure to delight Indian food lovers. With its authentic flavors, generous portions, and welcoming atmosphere, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone craving a taste of India.

Read moreHad a family dinner here. There is very limited car parking on the street here -- which can be a problem in evenings. Ambiance was clean and decent for the level of prices. It becomes really crowded late in the evenings after 8 or 9 pm - So recommend going there slightly early. Service was courteous and efficient. Now for the Food::
STARTER: We ordered Gobi Manchurian. Ok, but not great. They mince the Gobi instead of letting it be in pieces. Hence, it's not crispy the way we like and becomes chewy.
MAIN COURSE: The paneer butter masala and veg kadai were tasty and filling (they will adjust the spiciness as per your request ... I asked for low spice like I do at most restaurants and it ended up being lower than what I prefer ... I guess I should have asked for medium spice here). A single Salad plate was plenty for all of us. What was disappointing however, were the stuffed Naan and Garlic Naan's. They were both much thinner than expected and "Chewy/Rubbery" and the butter on them did not taste of butter (perhaps they use nutralite or some other substitute). The Garlic Naan was basically Roti with Garlic+Butter(?) sprinkled on top. The quantity of vegetables is fairly decent per dish and we probably should have taken only one sabji. But they will pack any left-overs for you in foil bags at no extra charge.
DESSERT: I wanted a Mastani but they only had Mango Mastani which turned out to be just "ok" (and since this is not mango-season, it was obviously made from packaged mango pulp). The hot coffee that my wife had seemed machine made but was decent enough (but definitely can't rank it "great").
Pricing: Expect around 400-500 Rs per person for a full course meal.
Overall experience was very much in middle ... some good, some...
Read moreThis is a popular restaurant near Karve statue, Kothrud, maybe for the last two decades or even more. I have visited it a good number of times during all thes years. It was a great place for breakfast as well as lunch/dinner. The food used to be good, reasonably priced and the ambience was pleasant. It's a value proposition and so you will find the restaurant is occupied most of the times. It's not uncommon to see a waiting list. Few years back (may be 3 to 4), the restaurant was renovated. The attempt was to make it look fresh and contemporary. However, I found the older look was more solid and warm, but then that's individuals outlook about the ambience. The food quality and service has dropped by few points. E.g. the south indian dishes quality and taste has dropped considerably. Few times, I tried giving feedback to the person managing the front counter, but he wasn't too receptive. Besides food, I find the attitude to be very casual (a stapler pin was found in a dish and it hurt my kid). No apologies were provided by the management. As there is no dearth of customers, customer service and satisfaction isn't high on their agenda. If you pay by cash and you are returned some cash, then you may get soiled and damaged currency notes. I have faced it a few times. It's an established and known restaurant. While lot of charm is lost, it still remains a good choice to grab a bite, more so...
