I went to this place on Friday evening for a team dinner. 12 of us were greeted nicely at the front door and taken to a place. The restaurant is very nicely decorated inside. The brick wall, the hanging bronze bells, wooden furniture with bright colored fabrics, big ceiling lights and nice soft music making Copper Chimney a good sit out dining place in Viman Nagar area. Though I found the staff rather absent when we needed them or sometimes interrupting during our chit chats. The manager treated us nice surprisingly and gave us 15% corporate discount for some reason. Well the food, OH YEAH!, is good as well as are the Mocktails. Even though I found the Veg Menu containing less offerings in general the quality of food is good. We ordered for starters Copper Kadak Roomali, Chilli Cheese Naans, Bhuna Lasooni Paneer, Paneer Tikka, Achari Mushroom. The Copper Kadak Roomali comes with chopped tomato and onions marinated with butter, salt and chilli masala, making it very irresistible. Quality of Paneer used in Paneer starters was creamy and soft. Paneer Tikka had a very nice blend of spices while Lasooni Paneer was not very impressive since it lacked that lehsun (garlic) flavor. Achari Mushroom’s mushroom quality was good and it was nicely blended and grilled. Good Quality comes at the cost of Quantity, therefore, quantity of Paneer and Mushrooms in starters is very limited. Along with this we ordered Mocktails such as Virgin Mojito, Khatta Jaljeera, Rusleela, Shikanji, and Lassi and Beverages such as Fresh Lime Soda. Virgin Mojito gave a nice punch of soda and lime and is definitely worth a try. I had a lot of expectations from Khatta Jaljeera since the drink looks amazing on the menu. Well it certainly meets the expectations despite lacking the soda punch one expects from any jaljeera drink. Lassi, Fresh Lime Soda, Rusleela and Shikanji are also worth a try. For main course, we ordered Corn Palak and Amritsari Chowk Ke Chole along with Whole Wheat Roomali Roti, Cheese and Garlic Naan and Garlic Naan. Corn Palak was nice and palak (spinach) was not bitter at all. This dish goes well with Whole Wheat Roomali Roti or Naan. Amritsari Chowk ke Chole is served in a Bronze 3-piece tiffin box. It comes along with 2 stuffed aalo (potato) Kulcha in one box and finely chopped tomato and onion salad in another box. Chole tastes very authentic and melts right into the mouth. The ginger and masala makes this dish very palatable. Finally, we ordered Kulfi, Rasmalai and Gulab Jamun for Dessert. They have a total of 5 desserts and sadly only 3 were available for us to order. The taste of all the dessert was good. Final Verdict, the quality of food is nice and along with nice ambience this place is worth the money. So when you are in Viman Nagar must consider Copper Chimney in your to go list. I would like to rate this restaurant as following: Ambience ** Food...

Read moreThis place should not be called Copper Chimney. This should be called Chambal Chimney because the dacoits from Chambal apparently gave up their arms and took up a franchise of Copper Chimney in Viman Nagar. I've been a Copper Chimney patron from my childhood days in the middle East since the 90s. The food was always served in healthy portions and with great Value for Money. The last time I had from Copper Chimney was from the Worli outlet in Mumbai a few years ago. They served amazing Pepper mutton chops which had ample quantity for 3 people to have to our hearts content. Needless to say when I came across the name, I was too tempted to visit again. However, our experience in terms of food quantity at the Viman Nagar outlet has been disappointing to say the least. Almost 1k for a Mutton Rogan Josh which had 4-5 pieces of size for pidgeons to nibble upon?? The Kadak Roomali (which is the only starter provided quickly) was like a 3 days old chapati which you forgot in your school tiffin on Friday over the weekend which your mother discovered accidentally and then smeared it with some Mother's Recipe Aam Achar and gave it back to you to eat on the following Monday. I asked the server for Masala pappad instead and to my shock, they didn't have one. Instead he told me that this is like Masala Pappad. No, its no where remotely close to a masala Pappad! Further, 225 for a cold drink can? I had ordered thums up and sprite and not titanium flouride. The problem I figured is that the table provided is too small, the menu card seems like a portion from the Srimad Bhagavad Gita was ripped off (Its vast and never ending) to the point that I just gave up and asked my server to get the Rogan Josh because I spotted that amongst all the unnecessary text. The service is extremely poor but I can't blame the waiters for this because there's no management in place to manage a crowd effectively. To make matters worse, I completely over looked the Discretionary service charge which they themselves charged in the bill to honour their ancestors from Chambal. In hindsight, Thank God, I had the presence of mind and the conscience of not giving a tip. Whoever is in-charge of this place, my two cents are as follows: Yes, I'm willing to pay a premium but that's not just for a brand name, it has to be first of all for Good food, fair portion sizes commensurate to the rate being charged and ofcourse good service. The Rogan Josh and Nan were fairly tasty but the portion size of the main course was poor. Anyway I hope the management takes these points seriously and reworks their menu...
