Punjab Global Grill - I have been eyeing at this place since a long. So after a hectic outing at Lavasa, while choosing our options on lunch in Phoenix Mall - we went forward with this one, also we were in a mood to eat authentic Punjabi-North Indian cuisine.
From the outside, the place seems quite big, but it isn't in actuality - seemed quite cramped up to me - trying to adjust as many seats as possible. They have regular table-chair setup with the sofa embedded to wall setup too. That small place could accommodate about 50 odd guests. They have a see-through kitchen - where you can see the chefs working their way to prepare the food to be served on your table. They have dimly lighted interiors, but I wouldn't conclude it to be giving an experience of fine dining!
I agree there is a huge rush in the restaurant but that does not mean that even the servers would stir a hurry. Everyone is paying their fair share of money for dining in here - not cool!! 😑 We were seated at one end of the alley, really congested with the guests next to us literally on our table. I usually am quite tolerant to situations like this - but when your charges are high, you have to make sure the ambiance is also right for the guests and so that they must be comfortable.
Anyhow moving forward, we ordered for the starters - BHATTI DA MURGH. Chicken pieces grilled nicely, done in yogurt marination the with the addition of some exotic spices done on a batti. This was served with green chutney. The chicken pieces were juicy and tender albeit there was a slight miss in the blend of spices! Also, all the pieces weren't leg pieces though. 😒 Next in line were the KADAI MURGH - tikka-ed tender chicken chunks cooked with loads of bell peppers in a deliciously rich creamy tomato gravy and garnished with chopped coriander. We paired this with beautifully made soft NAAN. Top notch!!
The staff is courteous, but always in a hurry to clear out your table.😁
Mind you, the place is overpriced for everything they have to...
Read moreI was looking for a fine dining restaurant to celebrate my mom's birthday who were visiting us here in Pune . Finally I zeroed down on this place as I've visited this restaurant in Juhu few times and I really liked it there. Here in Pune , it's located in Phoenix mall and the seating is not very huge. But they tried to maintain the overall ambience which is truly grand. Starting from the cutlery, glasses and especially their logo is really classy. Coming to food , it's authentic North Indian cuisine with some of the dishes are just perfect. Some of them require special mention: Mushroom mint shorba: perfect blend of wild mushrooms pieces and mint leaves which creates the unique taste which I quite liked. Gulouti kabab: very soft and succulent taste which just melts in your mouth.
Dahi kabab: unique kabab made from curd With little sweetness added to it. This one has little sour taste of curd and as per my cousin , he have had better dahi kabab at their another branch in Mumbai .
Paneer lababdar: truly awesome with huge portions.. Good enough for 4 to 5 people. All the breads are very big and compared to other restaurants. However they served us the wrong order for breads and we had to wait some extra minutes to start our main course. They compensated it with complimentary desert : kesar kheer with almond pieces. This was exceptional as I generally don't like kheer much but this one I just loved it.
Overall service was very good as all the staff was well trained and polite in their communication.
Price wise, this VFM considering very few fine dining restaurants in Pune and the portion of the...

The Nadru Galouti Kebab, a delightful starter, was a true revelation. It practically melted in your mouth, and the subtle blend of spices left a lasting impression. The Seekhan Mutton Kebab, bursting with flavor, was another highlight. Its succulent texture and savory taste were irresistible. The Batti Da Murgh, a dish full of vibrant flavors and a hint of spiciness, was a perfect representation of Punjabi cuisine's bold and robust character. The succulence of the chicken was complemented by the rich gravy, making it a delightful choice. The Mutton Dum Biryani, a main course gem, showcased the chef's mastery of the art of biryani-making. The perfectly cooked mutton was enveloped in fragrant rice and an array of spices that made each bite a tantalizing experience.
To end this exceptional dining journey, the Gulab Jamun, a classic Indian dessert, provided the perfect sweet conclusion. Its syrup-soaked softness and aromatic sweetness rounded off the meal on a high note.
In summary, Punjab Grill is a haven for those seeking authentic Punjabi cuisine in a luxurious setting. Each dish is a testament to the culinary excellence that the restaurant upholds, making it an experience...
