Soy Affair Chinese Bistro — Restaurant in Pune

Recently visited a hidden gem in Aundh, Soy Affair! As the name suggests, oriental food is their forte.

It's a very small restaurant yet happening with simple and attractive interiors! One of the best things about this restaurant is the outside seating! Basically it's a perfect restaurant for a quick bite, to chill with your friends over some good oriental food and to mention a heaven for dimsum lovers!

Now turning to the delicious food I tried:

🔘 Soup

🍵Tom Yum Soup

Tom Yum is basically a hot and sour Thai soup. It was a well balanced and flavorful combination of tangy, spicy and many boiled vegetables along with chicken.Broccoli, lettuce, mushroom and spinach together with all the soaked flavors left a heavenly after taste.

🔘Dimsum

I was told that this place is well know for it's dimsums and trust me, they were not just appealing but divine. I wouldn't mind visiting this place every now and then for dimsums!

🍽Chicken Thai Style

Lucious. Vibrant. Sweet and Spicy. Thick and Juicy with all the flavors very much in place. The dimsums very heavy with a light coating, full of minced chicken cooked in Thai style with appropriate spices resulting a blast of flavors in my mouth. Not only the taste, but the dish was garnished and presented beautifully. A perfect delight for both my eyes and my tummy.

🍽Chicken Sui Mai

Another perfectly cooked chicken delight with a bit of spice and seasoning Good aftertaste. Although these ones were having a thick coating and were a bit dry compared to the previous one. Overall great taste. Totally loved it.

🔘Appetizers

Soy Affair is a place with a wide menu of mouthwatering appetizers. We tried a few.

🍽Pepper Garlic Prawns

The only dish without a wow moment. This dish was not up to the mark. Then prawns were hard to chew and looked like they were not fresh. The spice kick was missing.

🍽Fish in Chilly Mustard Sauce.

The dish was perfect and the fish was soft and tender. Well cooked and vibrant. The cooked fish was tossed in mustard sauce. It was a bit sweet with a spicy hint at the end.

🍽Prawns wrapped in Teriyaki Chicken

This was the best dish on the table. Hands down. Very innovative and constructive. I am a huge fan of Teriyaki. Perfectly cooked prawns were wrapped in chicken slices and later tossed in sweet and spicy teriyaki sauce. Amazing taste and the wrapping was done very well. This out of the box combination of chicken and prawns was totally saporous and scrumptious. It was a total party in my mouth. Masterpiece. Highly recommended.

The other appetizers we tried were Veg Basil Dumplings, Veg Cristal Dumplings, Giant Chilly Cottage, Stir Fries Oriental Greens. All were tasty and were up to the mark.

🔘Main Course

Turning towards the main course, it was tasty, yummy, flavorful and highly satisfying. A delicious end to our dinner.

🍽Chicken Thai Red Curry with Butter Rice.

This Thai coconut based curry was thick and had a perfect consistency. It was full of flavors and spices were well balanced. It was a bit sweet with hint if spice in the end. Chicken was well cooked and was tender and juicy, blasting with flavors. A perfect main course dish.

🔘Dessert

For a sweet lover like me, no meal is complete without a sweet dessert deal.

🍧Fried Noodles with Ice Cream Frankly Speaking, I felt a bit wierd about the combination, but trust me, it really went well. Noodles and ice cream does make a good combination. Fried crispy noodles topped with chilled ice cream, a great way to end the deal.

Who doesn't love dimsums ! Soy affair this new place on the block has a vast menu with and dimsums are their speciality ♥️ This place has walls painted with blossom trees & lamps at each table & the whole setup is really relaxing.

Tom Yum Soup : This soup had big chicken chunks which has a very blant taste & needs to be had along with the soup broth. The broth has broccoli, spinach & cabbage which has this soup a healthy option here ♥️ Personally I loved my soup this way with not much spices & keeping the authentic oriental taste intact.

Dimsums : Chicken suimai : These beautifully made suimais had an even amazing filling of minced chicken ♥️ These were steamed to perfection with the spices topped on it taking it one notch up !😋

Vegetable Crystal Dumplings: These vegetable dumplings tasted amazing as the mustard dips given along with it complimented them really well 😋 The dumplings were well designed & also I loved the presentation ♥️

Thai Style Chicken Dimsums : Spicy, streamed minced chicken & great dips ! This was my favourite among others & I'm definitely coming back for these 😋 I highly recommend these for people who like their dimsums spicy 😍

Starters : Jiang Chilli Cottage Cheese : I personally found them too blant as the sauce did not blend properly with the cottage cheese & other vegetables.

Fish in Chilli Mustard Sauce : Took me back to Kolkata ! The authenticity & flavours were on point ! Soft fish chunks made in mustard sauce with balanced taste & texture♥️

Prawn pepper garlic : Absolutely loved this dish ! It had a strong garlicy flavour with the prawns well cooked & the pepper giving it that extra kick ! Enjoyed having this.

Mains : Exotic Vegetable in Spicy Basil Sauce : This did not have much flavour & could have been better if vegetable broth was cooked for a longer time as that would add more flavour to the dish.

Fragnant Butter Rice : Best butter rice I have ever had ! The rice grains were well separated & appropriately cooked 😋 #HIGHLYRECOMMENDED

Hakka noddles : These were average taste wise & were not cooked properly. The quantity was great but the quality could be better.

Desserts : Honey Glazed Flat Noddles with ice cream : These crisp flat noddles had the perfect amount of honey & it was a delight to have it with vanilla...

Visited this place on 3rd June after seeing lot of positive review on Google and Instagram reel which was posted by one of Pune food blogger.

Initial impression was really good when we entered in the restaurant, and ambiance was lovely. Staff has greeted with warm welcome as well. We have ordered Corn & Spinach Dumpling and Honey Chilli Potato as started along with Fresh Lime Soda and Mint Mojito as drink. In mains we have ordered Veg Black Pepper Noodles.

Started came quickly and service was really good till this time. Dim sum was really good and Honey Chilli Potato as well.

Drinks were just like a water, there was no Soda power at all, it was tasting like pure just syrup water. We were about to complaint on this meanwhile another tragedy happen. Waiter came with one dish on our table and before we ask what it is - he started serving on plate. We have ordered Noodle and it was rice.. when we ask what is that, he was also clueless what he has came to serve as he was not knowing name of dish. Unfortunately it was Chicken Rice which was clearly visible. This was the most pathetic moment for us as our order was entire veg dishes and waiter has served non-veg in dish. We have called supervisor on this issue and there was just simple sorry - Galti ho gai type attitude. Later meet main manager who has apologized on this mistake multiple time and gave reason that person was new so not aware about veg and non-veg orders. We just left the restaurant without having main course with spoiled mood and evening :( I think even though restaurant serves both veg and non-veg food, they should take care about the basic level of service, such blunders can't be accepted with just simple sorry :(
