The first thing that struck me about The Pluvian Cafe was how bright the space is. The decor is tasteful, subtle and yet striking. The one issue that makes the space as nice as this somewhat uninviting is the solitary AC struggling to cool a large room. Itâs a semi-self service kind of situation. You place the order at the counter but they bring the food to your table. Given how few tables there are, this is an odd choice for a full menu restaurant. The menu is simple but still innovative with a nice selection of summer specials. We ordered a couple of sandwiches, the Harissa chicken and the fried chicken. The peri peri chicken sandwich was a touch small but fairly tasty. Not much bite. The sweet potato chips were a nice touch. The pesto sandwich and the Harissa chicken were both good. The fried chicken was as advertised⊠very fried but flavourful. Overall, The Pluvian Cafe is a solid addition to the Kothrud Western food scene. Itâs minimal and yet has a couple of surprises in the menu. The service and ambiance are unfussy and efficient. I can recommend the food for certain but they need to do better with the AC if they expect...
Read moreThe food is average for the price. For the amount being paid, a much better experience is expected. The bathroom is extremely small, cramped, and not very clean. Overall, the staff â except for the female owner â were not at all welcoming and came across as extremely rude, especially the man, who was quite arrogant and condescending. In this hot weather, having the AC turned on is expected, but only one fan was running. The fries were extremely average, the most bland and basic fries one could ever try. The fries were a complete 1/10. The skillet cookie and pizza were good but even that doesnât justify the overall experience or the pricing, not worth the price. One can easily get the same dishes in terms of taste at a way cheaper price.Other than the fries none of the dishes were bad,but again for the price you expect something better. The ambiance isnt that great either. Even the way they offer oregano and chili flakes feels unhygienic and quite wasteful. The place is definitely not worth the hype that has been created around it,completely overhyped for sure. Everything about the cafe is average and...
Read moreOne of the best cafés I've visited in ages! Let's dive into why this place is an absolute gem:
Food: Hats off to the chef and ownersâseriously, 100/100! The food was so delicious and tempting that I completely forgot to take photos (yes, it's that good). While everything on the menu is a winner, if I had to pick a few must-tries: the Avocado Toast, Italian Baked Nachos, anything with their out-of-this-world pesto, Butter Beer, and Mandarin Coffee. Pure magic on a plate!
Ambience: Wow! The vibes here are just what you need to unwind. The aesthetics? Perfectly soothing. And the music volume? Nailed it! No annoying loudness, just a chilled-out, cozy space that puts you at ease. Service: The owners are the real MVPs here. They're warm, down-to-earth, and incredibly mindful about minimizing food wastage. Plus, their story is super inspiringâdefinitely try to chat with them if you get the chance!
Verdict: Just go! Trust me, you'll thank...
