Went there with family with high hopes however it turned out to be a disappointing experience.
The place is dedicated for "Misal" known as mixture of different tasteful ingredients like farsan, moong sprouts, Pohe, cut onion, Lemon, curd(plain yogurt) and a thin curry called 'Tarri". This is originally belongs to Southern Maharashtra City, Kolhapur. Lately due to getting indulged as a fast-food item it's being served as Misal with a fluffy bun called 'Pav' or Bread.
At this place you get all these items as a private buffet arrangement on your table below which they place ignited smoky coal pieces and that's what they call it "Barbeque" LOL!!
They have 4 types of Tarri flavours belonging to popular Misal specialities from Nashik, Pune, Kolhapur cities and a Jain flavor (no onion and garlic).
To my group's experience none of the ingredients were tasteful and do not give you satisfaction of eating a Misal. Pav are grilled before served, is best part. Also, at ₹99/- it's unlimited servings offered. So, if you like the taste, it's nothing like that.
Place is small and very hot to be in. No air conditioning done, no plain and cool drinking water available. You must pay ₹20 per liter of room temperature drinking water bottle of local brand which is again not tastes good.
Cons: The ambiences is certainly not convenient and comfortable as it's very hot and narrow, taste is good. Nothing exists something like barbeque No dedicated parking, you need to find roadside parking No toilet or washroom
Pros: Presentation style i.e. Private buffet Eat all you can in ₹99/- is great deal Staff is...
Read moreI heard a lot of mixed reviews about Thorat's Barbeque Misal but never got a chance to visit any of the branches. So when I was invited to try the Misal at their new Viman Nagar branch, I said yes with no second thoughts. About the restaurant, the place is not that huge but with an ample amount of seating indoor and outdoor. The ambience is simple yet nice. Also, the smoke of the Barbeque and its aroma is very appealing. So basically Thorat's Barbeque Misal offers unlimited misal at INR 99 per person. So basically its MAKE YOUR MISAL. The twist is that they offer 4 types of Rassa served on live Barbeque settings with burning charcoal and all. Talking about types of Rassa they provide Jain, Puneri, Kolhapuri and Nashik. Kolhapuri Misal as the name suggests is the spiciest of all. It gives the perfect kick of the spices. Next one is the Puneri one, a little bit less spicy than the firey red Kolhapuri one. Perfect for a person like me. The third one is Nashik one. This one was mild but delicious. Tried for the first time and I liked it. And the fourth one is Jain Rassa. Jain Rassa was a little bit on a sweeter note. Also, there were sides like pohe, batata bhaji, sprouts, curd, onions and lemon. Along with there were pav and bread served with Farsan. Everything was served unlimited. Just for INR 99 per person. Also tasted Solkadi, Lassi and Buttermilk. All are flavour-some and perfect. Overall a nice place to experiment with your taste buds. Read moreLast visit to the other outlet was disappointed one and had read the alot of critics about barbeque misal place. But the visit to this outlet has changed my point of view.
The same thing but with maintain in quality and taste. This place have an outdoor and indoor sitting area.
Now coming to the food, accompaniments like pohe which taste good and cooked to perfection. Batata bhaji was cooked with glossy yellow, mashable potatoes chunks. Moth beans have that crunchy note but need little more sprouted.
All four types of rassa had the amazing taste with touch of mild smokey flavor, specially love there Kolhapuri rassa the firey red, spicy with tarri floating on top. The jain one was on litte sweeter which I don't find appealing to my palate but taste good. Puneri have that the zanzanit level of spice, which I feel comfort level. Farsan was crunchy and taste fresh.
Pav/breads served along with have that grill mark and was fresh.
Solkadi was way too good, with appealing pink color balance in flavor of chillies and coconut. Will visit only for Solkadi for sure. Lassi taste good with creamy texture and balance of the sweetness.
They do serve the gulab jamun as well, for me it was the best. The size, quality and taste all are on the mark. Kinda gulab jamun which just melt in mouth.
For me this is the best place and true value for money. Overall my experience was good and mindset had changed after visiting tis...
