Cafe toons is the most nostalgic place in Pune camp area. Its hidden in plain sight but you can hear the sound of the music when you walk past it on mg road. We used to go there in our college days and that time it was owned by Mahesh who used to manage it very well. Today it is owned by another owner and the name changed from 'Toons' to 'Tunes'. The new owner is doing a good job to keep the place as it was before and the interior and tge set up is kept same.
Coming to the best part about toons.. It is not its food or drinks.. its the music. If you love classic rock and heavy metal then this place is the best for you. The only challenge is that most of the crowd that comes here have little clue about rock music so the DJ plays only the commercial tracks, alternative rock and pop music. If you want him to play the tracks of your choice, you can simply request him.
Probably this is the only place in Pune that is a old school sports bar playing amazing music along with ice cold beer its the perfect unwinding experience for a music lover.
The overall ambience of Tunes is amazing as it is partly underground and gives the vibe of an old English sports bar. Also this place is great for football fans as they play live matches too. They used to have a jukebox but on my recent visit I couldn't find it.
Coming to the food, its pretty much standard. It does the job of satisfying your hunger but anyway this is not a place where you would go for an out of the world culinary experience. We usually go for frech fries and burgers.
This place is jam packed during the weekends so you might want to reach there early (around 7pm) and grab your table. The pricing for food and drinks is also reasonable. Service is prompt and the staff is pretty friendly.
Overall I would definately rate this place 5 stars mostly for the nostalgia attached to it....
Read moreA pretty decent place to hangout with friends and share some drinks. Reminds you of the pubs and bars in Mumbai making the best utilization of the space within constraints.
A very different ambiance dedicated to sketched cartoons (not the familiar ones though)...Can seem a little claustrophobic and if you are looking forward to conversational drinks as the music is a little loud, though awesome..Remember them having played some real good numbers like Paradise, Demons, Carnival of Rust, Rolling in the deep etc..Lol, I just realized I haven't started reviewing their drinks or food..So, jumping onto that.. :P
We had ordered a Toons Tower, it was the same drought beer that you get in any decent pub / bar. In snacks, my non-veggie friends ordered Chicken Steak and Chicken Wings and they seemed to be enjoying it..I had ordered Veg Penne with Napolitan Sauce, it was OK..But nevertheless, you don't visit such places for food / snacks, its an amalgamation of the company you have, the ambiance of the place, the atmosphere, your mood in general and yes THE MUSIC, that play the trick.. :) :)
So, definitely visit this place when all this things are good and you want to have some loud crazy time in...

Recently I visited Cafe Tunes in Camp, Pune, located in the basement of Wonderland on MG Road. This place has been a popular hangout for years, earlier known as Cafe Toons, and now rebranded as Cafe Tunes. The vibe inside still carries that familiar charmâdim lights, music playing in the background, and a mix of people enjoying food, drinks, and conversations.
We went there in the evening, and the atmosphere was lively with sports streaming on the big screens. The menu has a variety of optionsâburgers, pizzas, sandwiches, and continental dishes along with a decent bar menu. I ordered a chicken pizza and a cold coffee, while my friend tried a burger with a mocktail. The flavors were good, and the portion sizes were quite filling.
Service was friendly, though a bit slow at times, especially during peak hours. The prices are reasonable for a Camp-area
Cafe Tunes is a nice spot to relax with friends, enjoy casual food, and listen to some good tunes. Itâs great for catching up over a drink or watching a match. If youâve been to Cafe Toons before, youâll still feel that...
