The restaurant is situated Inside Hotel Ashoka Egmore, on the corner of Pantheon Road and opposite to Women’s Hospital. Restaurant is open between 7 am to 11 pm and the last orders are accepted at 10.45 pm. It’s a fine dining restaurant and part of the very famous Ballal Group. They have branches in Bangalore, Chennai and Moodbidri. Ample parking space available and the restaurant has about 120 to 200 seating capacity approximately.
This place is one of my favourite place and I have been coming to this place since 1990 and I never get bored of this place. Even to today the standards are maintained and kudos to the management. Introduced this place to my nephews on our recent visit to Chennai. Every item we ordered was awesome. My favourite is madras meals and in that the Vatha Kulambu with ghee and rice is nirvana. Even when I am writing this review my mouth is watering. My nephews ordered Masala Dosa, Rava Dosa, Mini Idly with Ghee & the newly introduced item Fruit Shake served in Musk Melon (Referee image posted) they just freaked out, enjoyed every item ordered. One thing I would like to mentioned here is, when people want order just simple rice sambar or rice rasam its not available on the menu, like the way we order in any of the restaurants in Bangalore. Also, don’t miss the traditional filter coffee, I strongly recommend for the filter coffee lovers. Otherwise it is fantastic, overall awesome experience and strongly recommend this place for the...
Read moreGood Food and Nostalgic ambience !!! This is one of the oldest hotel in chennai. We tried Dosa, chole battura and Starters. All items were really good. The good things about this place : Good food and nice portion. You get a feel of 80's high end restaurant looking at ambience. The ambience is minimalistic and old. No fancy colours. Good service , but you have to call the staff to come to seat. Ample Car parking space. They have Kids chair. Very helpful for parents having kids in age group 1-4 years Things that could improve: I feel that as old hotel they can add some Madras photos or some stories which can give people a old feel. The price little on higher side. Cost around 300-400 per person for dinner.
Overall a good vegetarian restaurant and I would surely recommend for...
Read moreI dont know how is it more than even 2 star because each and everything is so much costly if compare it with the quality, we went 4 people ate fried rice, paneer manchurian, naan, baby corn, alooparatha, masala kulcha, butter panner. Trust me butter paneer was acctually good but the quanity i dont whats the point they are changing more than 200 rs ging 6-8small pieces of paneer, then aloo paratha was the worst paratha i ever ate in my life it was disgusting same masala kulcha, mix fried rice was 220 but not even sufficient for 1, then baby corn was ok gd but taste sucks. Homest review you should reduce the prices or instead work on the quality and quantity of the food. Whatever i have shared is 100% true,...
