When you enter the restaurant, it feels like you walked into some Talk show or Movie set. They even have a special “Photo chair” which resembles a Peacock. Quite tacky looking furniture and colours, but a pretty good ambience overall. Thankfully, the furniture is decently spaced and doesn’t really feel overcrowded. For a completely Vegetarian restaurant, the menu is extensive and contains a combination of different Asian cuisine, largely Thai and Chinese, with a handful dishes from the other places. And like the usual trend by pure veg places, to add another dimension, even the Asian cuisine is being sizzled, by twist of fate and ideas. We were famished after some heavy maintenance work at home and not being able to cook, we decided to treat our taste buds here. Started off with the spicy and delicious Velvet Paneer, on the recommendation of one of the captains (Mr. Om), who was very pleasant and calm throughout; despite the restaurant being full and almost an equal set of people waiting to grab their spot. Supplemented that with the mildly spicy Julian Veg soup, the composition of which had been changed from clear to daal based; for God knows what reason. (This was recommended by one of my family member, who had visited earlier also). Followed it up with a Thai Green curry, which had good chunk of vegetables, but the absence of Sticky Jasmine rice was a definite disappointment. While the curry was well flavoured, the plain steaming basmati rice didn’t seem to do enough justice. Since we were famished with all that work, we were game to finish it off with another interesting Asian fusion variation by the name Barbeque Garlic Fried rice, again thanks to the recommendation of Om. It was definitely an interesting twist, with a nice salad of mayonnised vegetables on the side. The spicyness of the mixed gravy with the rice was nicely being complemented by the slight sweetness of the mayonissed veggies on the side. Overall a very good experience. Almost certain it was because of the good food and not because we were tired and famished. Else wouldn’t have remembered to write such a detailed review of our experience. Hope you enjoy your visit equally as we did.
P.S. There has been enough and more complain about delays and crowd management on weekends and sadly it is true. We had walked out of the restaurant once in the past. In all likeliness, it seems like the kitchen is not fully equipped to handle the seating capacity completely. While the food is good, it could potentially test your patience. Simple suggestion, Go early to beat the crowd. Or choose a...
Read moreChinese & Thai cuisine in vegetarian only option was the only reason for me to try this restaurant. It is located on the 2nd floor. Lift and stairs available. Ambience was attractive mainly because of the furniture. Nothing else than that. We pre booked a table (for 2) and arrived on time. Not much crowed. Wide variety of option to choose from but always keep in mind that they give more quantity than what is offered in other similar restaurants. Don't hurry in ordering too many at one go.
Staff guided us in explaining the dishes and also told whether the dish will be spicy / sweet, the quantity will be enough for 2 ppl and noted our alterations.
We ordered Herbal soup - small (Spicy watery soup with lot of veggies - moderately good) + Broccoli pistachios soup - small which was made with coconut milk Base (tasted very good, slightly thicker with chopped broccoli pieces and coconut milk taste was the highlight - must try). Small soup size itself was more than enough for a person.
Lotus Stem garlic sesame (slightly hard & i couldn't find any unique flavor in it so didn't enjoy eating. Quantity was more even for 2 ppl.. We had to waste some because we got bugged chewing it and it was eating our appetite so stopped 😁)
Bamboo special sizzler with a Steamed rice option. The staff told us that it will be sweet, we said make it moderate sweet. (loads of veggies in sizzler & steamed rice was given in a bowl. Veggies were not hot enough being on sizzler so it wasn't cooked well. Rice was also slightly warm. I couldn't taste any flavor out of that dish. Just a mixture of some sauce and half cooked variety veggies and nothing else. I am a sizzler lover but got disappointed.) Just ate and wrapped up..
Except for the Broccoli Soup, nothing was recommendable or enjoyable from our selected meal. One time visit is fine.
Wish they enhance unique flavor to grab more people and maintain...
Read moreThe food here is good, the portions generous and the ambience nice. I was so happy when Bamboo Kitchen came as a second player into the otherwise single player pure vegetarian chinese market. But this trip the day before yesterday has ensured that I will not be back again.
We were a group of 7 for dinner at 7.30 pm. Soon, another group started gathering in the adjoining area to our right. A large cake from outside was brought in. Some 50 people quickly assembled. They switched on a public address system with mics and a big boombox and started belting out happy birthday tunes in multiple languages, then various film tunes, all at FULL volume. It might have been a karaoke bar for the din generated there.
We called the manager and requested him to lower the volume. To no avail. We did this three times. We told the manager to tell them to sing without a mic and keep it short. No. It was not done. This was perfectly unacceptable. No action was taken. Finally, one in our party noticed that there was a sliding door to that area and went himself and physically shut one section (the other would not shut properly). We wondered why the restaurant did not do that themselves?
We told the manager clearly that we will never be back again. It was only at this point that the manager apologised and said that that party was to have been out of the restaurant by 7.30. And that they had been surprised themselves by the boom box, speakers and mics.
The very fact that the management was unable to put its foot down to look after the comfort of other paying patrons is extremely disconcerting. We had gone to the restaurant to have a nice conversation and eat good food. All of us returned with headaches and possibly split ear drums.
But for the late verbal apology. no other redress was...
