Ente Keralam means "My Keralam". They are the restaurant chain which took the experience of eating Kerala food to the next level. The best part of this restaurant is the peaceful, laid back attitude. Earlier Malayali food was always available in all parts of Chennai and the food was always good in many places but Ente Keralam brought class into the Kerala food scene in Chennai. The place is not cheap and it is on the lower side of 5 star hotels or restaurants.
We took out clients from abroad to this restaurant. We ordered Non Veg meals, Prawns Theeyal (a dark curry with pepper and tamarind), Alleppey Fish Curry, Fish Fry and Squids. The meals with all the little veg and non vegetarian add ons were excellent and I could not point out to a dish and say it was bad. The meal is a true belly filler.
My best preference in terms of quality was the outstanding Alleppey Fish Curry. The fish was Seer fish and it was very fresh and the curry was a perfect amalgamation of spice and coconut. One will simple not get enough of this curry with rice. The Prawns Theeyal was another spicy curry dish which again went well with the rice. The Squid fry and the fish fry was very very fit combination for the meal. By the time I finished the meals I was so full that all I wanted was a nice soft bed 🤩.
The staffs are very service oriented and very very well trained. The kitchen staffs will help us if we need any special inclusion in the curry they make. The service staffs are always welcoming and very friendly.
I truly recommend Ente Keralam for all readers who want a special experience with Kerala cuisine.
Well Done Ente Keralam!!!!!...
Read moreFirst time visit to Ente keralam in Anna Nagar… the restaurant is quite spacious with a traditional Keralite look It was free when we went and soon got filled… The staff were very polite and friendly and explained everything we asked them Coming to the food Thalassery briyani - would say not the best I’ve had but it was decent.. could’ve had more flavour.. it was a little bland but was served with all accompaniments Appam and puttu- both were amazing in taste and served hot… soft and the puttu was flaky and steamy Mutton stew - again amazing.. the flavour the taste and the cooking of the mutton.. very tender n succulent which made it taste great Beef varutharachathu- beef gravy.. the flavour was good but it was too sweet to our liking Allepey fish curry - vibrant orange colour but honestly did not enjoy it.. the flavour was not balanced.. it was more of sweet and sour with sourness overpowering everything and even the fish was so overcooked that it was very hard
Pros The quantity is really good and filling for all of us Very reasonable rates Great ambiance Friendly staff
Cons All the dishes were too sweet.. I know coconut makes it so but this was not balanced and it was overly sweet and couldn’t taste the coconut...

The porottas, oh the porottas! Light and fluffy yet satisfyingly substantial, they were the perfect canvas for soaking up the rich, aromatic beef curry. Each layer, paper-thin and flaky, practically melted in your mouth, while the curry itself was a masterpiece. Deep, complex, and infused with warming spices, it was the kind of dish that lingers on your taste buds long after the last bite.
It wasn't just the individual components that were incredible; it was the way they harmonized on the plate. The porotta's buttery richness perfectly balanced the curry's heat, while the subtle sweetness of coconut milk peeked through in every flavorful spoonful. It was a culinary adventure, a love letter to Kerala's traditions, and a meal I'll never forget.
So, if you're ever in the vicinity, do yourself a favor and seek out this gem. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you for it! And don't even think about skipping the porotta and beef combo - it's an experience not...
